INTRODUCTION

Knowledge management Knowledge is the key to success of any organisation; if they know information which is unique that will make them profitable that can some knowhow or any business idea. Km has several definitions but what is more important is that what is km is to you and your organisation. Organisation now a days are realising how important is that what they know. If they are very good at what they know is very effective for them, they can be best in their field. Sometimes knowledge becomes competitive advantages because if others dont know what you know defiantly its an advantage over others. If the employee of an

organisation have enough sound knowledge about the organisational structure like what they are doing, then its easy for them to interact with the customers. So the

process will be reduced and will be more effective. The best knowledge management makes an organisation more effective player in the global market.

Knowledge is very much important in day to day life and in work also, everyone knows how to carry his/her work in an organisation. The main purpose of knowledge management is to make the knowledge available to all people or organisation as a whole. The knowledge should be shared and used in an effective way. Knowledge hold organisation together for the long term growth. For people working in team work there should be sharing of knowledge so that everyone will know what they known before this will become effective system in the organisation. Day to day the world is changing so updating of knowledge is very much important. Such new technologies are coming up so keep organisation survive in the market it is essential that to have current knowledge. Corporate knowledge can be sorted in three categories: Explicit: - This is the knowledge formally organised in a company documents. Tacit :- This is unstructured , personal , and based on the experience of employees Strategic: - This is the knowledge is typically restricted and given limited access such as it can executive market strategies or patent regulations. Knowledge management seems a simple idea but implementing is very hard, because right type of knowledge at right time is needed that should be analysed properly and timely to meet the current market perception then only we can survive in the rapidly changing environment.

The knowledge management system compromises of following components:-

Planning strategic and performance knowledge

Knowledge

Customer, supplier and competitor knowledge

Management Financial knowledge System Product, process, technology and service knowledge

Operational knowledge

Organizational people skills and competencies knowledge

Successful organisation always said to be a learning organisation and it is made up of knowledge workers. Who is continuously ready to learn and change according to the change in technology .So the knowledge management process must be reflected in its culture strategy, policy and practice. The challenge for purchase and supply department is to develop a common process, procedures, and practices across the individual units such as business units, divisions, plants, mills etc.

Improvement in Efficiency and Effectiveness of knowledge management system:There are several different confusing definitions of knowledge management system. There are various perceptions about knowledge management system these are following: Km is about systems and technologies Km is about people in the organisation and their learnings Km is about process, methods and techniques Km is managing knowledge assets Km is holistic initiative across the entire organization Km is not a discipline it should be followed by every worker and their responsibility towards the organisation gaols in order to manage KMS effectively and efficiently in the organization special attention to be given to the dimensions of the organization

First of all building strong culture in the organisation is very important and also adopting and supporting it. Strategy should be made in such a way that all the knowledge resources should be used efficiently. Better technology is always having a competitive advantage. using information technologies is efficient in managing knowledge

management systems such as :- Digital documents Intranets Expert systems etc.

CULTURE:The first dimension is culture it should be considered before implementing knowledge management systems. Knowledge management systems as its core have more human intervention. Knowledge management cannot be effective unless the trusting knowledge culture that emphasizes the role and value of knowledge in day to day business decisions. People should have positive orientation towards knowledge that is, employee should be bright, intellectual, willing and free to explore. Executives should encourage their knowledge creation and use them efficiently. People should have habits of sharing of knowledge in the organization.

Therefore effective management system requires a healthy and conducive culture in the organization.

STRATEGY:For making the knowledge actionable effective strategy is needed. We have to form a strategy that will utilize the full resources of knowledge.

Developing a knowledge management strategy

Implementing a knowledge management system follows these seven steps:1. Identify the problem 2. Prepared for the changes in market 3. Creating the effective team 4. Proper mapping out the knowledge, so that it should be utilized in the right way. 5. Establishing a feedback system

6. Having effective knowledge directory and content management. 7. Integrating all the existing information system so that all of the team members of the organization can use it efficiently

TECHNOLOGY:Another last dimension of knowledge management is technology. Technology has a very important role in maintaining the knowledge management system. The information technology tools are very much effective in managing the knowledge management.

The technology which helps in managing knowledge management systems is 1. Information prospective 2. Awareness prospective 3. Communication prospective

These are the basic elements which can improve the effective knowledge management systems.

Conclusion:In todays era every organization is facing tough competition in the global economy. They have to identify the effective knowledge system in the knowledge driven economy. In the changing economic scenario every organization should be up to date learnings of technology changes, if they fail to do so they cant compete in the market. The management knowledge system components have an effective role in managing the valuable assets includes: - defining effective strategies for its management, using the state of art technology for better implications of KMS, and developing strong culture. Effective management system helps in improving overall activities of the business from production to customers. Thus we can conclude that it emphasizes the competitive advantage to the organization
