Australian Bred Tallara

Tallara has resulted from a cross between the Californian cultivators Parker and Pajero. Tallara is a classic short day variety and crops during the period October to January in southern Victoria. Tallara has shown adaptation to all areas of Australia where Pajaro has been grown. In addition, its resistance to rain damage will open up the possibility of producing a Pajero type variety in Queensland where Pajaro has not been grown due to cracking. They are a tasty fruit and best left to ripen on the bush.

Lowana
Lowanna is a classic day neutral variety, which crops during the period October to late May in southern Victoria. Lowanna forms a semi compact open plant, which will allow closer plant spacing and still allow fruit to be well displayed. Lowanna has shown adaptation to all areas of Australia where Selva has been grown including Queensland. Lowanna fruit is large, red and glossy. A tasty fruit and best left on the bush to ripen for full flavour. The excellent appearance is maintained throughout summer and autumn. Shape is uniformly conical with little variation between primary and secondary fruits, and good fruit shape is maintained during hot weather. Flesh is medium red with a lighter core. It has shown moderate levels of resistance to rain damage .

Adina
Fruit are exceptionally large, conic to wedge shaped.. Skin is bright red and moderately glossy with the appearance being maintained throughout the season. The flesh is medium red, low in acidity and high in aroma. Fruit is moderately resistant to rain damage.

Old Favorites Red Gauntlet

A Scottish variety that has been grown in many areas of the southern parts of Australia for its excellent high yields. This plant is very hardy with resistance to fungus diseases. It is always very productive but needs good culture conditions and feeding. Fruit size varies through the cropping season and is medium/large to very large and small towards the end of the harvesting season. The fruit is regular with a beautiful shiny bright red colour. It is fairly resistant to handling and suitable for quick freezing. The flesh is reasonably firm, not very juicy, pink not very sweet, rather tart and aromatic.

Tioga
This is a Californian variety suitable for warmer areas. The plants are very vigorous and give a high response to nitrogen fertilisation with a too vigorous growth. They are susceptible to chlorosis. Soils with a high content in active calcium and with high ph have to be avoided. The fruit is sweet and best left to ripen on bush for their full potential

Torrey
This is an old Californian variety that has a very low chilling requirement. It is a vigorous grower with good colour and a tasty fruit. A very good variety for the warmer climates of NSW, SA, WA and Northern Victoria. Torrey yields well during spring and early summer from autumn planted runners and produce a high percentage of large and medium sized fruit.
