DRS-BB Distributed, digital busbar protection

General
The proven and KEMA-tested distributed busbar protection system DRS-BB of ANDRITZ HYDRO has its main focus of application in protection of large and complex network nodes. Especially important for very large substations is the distributed arrangement of the components whereby as many tasks as possible are transferred to the periphery. The main purpose is a rapid isolation of faulty busbar sections preventing power system disruptions and heavy damages to the plant. The compatibility of the system with all other products of the DRS family together with the common operating software DRS-WIN simplifies the training and spare part inventory.

Features
Transmission of signals from individual feeders units to the central unit and vice versa is via two redundant fibre optic ring connections minimising the external cabling. The peripheral components of the various feeders are also equipped with completely independent feeder protection facilities. Complex switchgear configurations require complex plant replica software for the busbar protection. This is achieved by the universally valid method of the graph theory (developed by ANDRITZ HYDRO) catering even for the most complex plant configurations. Integrated CT saturation detection Software adaption to different CT ratios Integrated circuit breaker failure protection is standard Very comfortable HMI software DRS-WIN as used for the whole DRS family. Two types of field units (DRS-LBB and DRS-CBB) for different I/O requirements
