BMAN 111 Basic information

1. WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR BMAN 111? Textbook: Van Rensburg, L.R.J. 2008. Business management: an introduction. School for business management. Potchefstroom. Study guide: available at the study guide centre. The handbook and the study guide is available in Afrikaans and English

2. CLASS ATTENDANCE ** Class attendance is crucial for you to compile a good participation mark. It remains your own responsibility to attend classes promptly and be prepared for the sessions. During the semester, class attendance will regularly be taken and will be taken into consideration for your participation mark. UNPREPARED CLASS TESTS AND ASSIGNMENTS WILL CONSTANTLY TAKE PLACE WITHIN CLASS TIME.

Only THREE (3) scheduled evaluations will be written, and all three these evaluations will count towards your participation mark. Apart from the scheduled evaluations, unscheduled evaluations can be written at any time. It will be on work already discussed. Unscheduled assignments can be given in class at any time, which will count towards your participation mark. Evaluations and assignments will be made available during class and the memo will also be discussed then. Keep ALL evaluations and assignments you will have to submit them should discrepancies occur with regards to official marks. Dates of tests Test 1: 2 March Test 2: 23 March GAG test: GAG week Sick test: 11 May o For admission to the sick test youll need a sick note (which needs to be handed in within 7 days after the scheduled test at your lecture) Participation mark 35% is expected from bona fide first years (students who are registered for the first time at a tertiary institution) for admission to the exam. 5. PLAGIARISM AND DISHONESTY ** Plagiarism means that you use work from other sources to complete your assignments without changing the content of the work you use or referring to the source you have used. This should not happen at all. You have to interpret the information you use and you should also refer to the source you have used. A booklet entitled Quoting Sources is available from the cashier in the Ferdinand Postma library. Ensure that you know the contents of this booklet. IF YOU COMMIT PLAGIARISM YOU WILL BE FORMALLY CHARGED IN A DISCIPLINARY ACTION WITHOUT WARNING. ** If you are dishonest during evaluations, semester test or examinations, you will also be formally charged in a disciplinary action without warning.
