Printable Checklist
This checklist has 3 sections:

1. Preparation
2. Installation
3. BIOS Settings

Preparation:

[ ] 1. Working DS3L-based system with compatible BIOS


[ ] 2. Video Card with 10.5.5-compatible driver
[ ] 3. Blank CD (or DVD)
[ ] 4. A retail Leopard Installation DVD (not a recovery disc for iMac, Macbook, etc.)

Installation:

[ ] 1. Update BIOS if required (F7+ for P35-DS3L or F5+ for P35-DS3L)


[ ] 2. Set BIOS Settings (see BIOS section below)
[ ] 3. Plug the Boot Drive & DVD drive into SATA Ports 0 and 1 (nearest the memory slots)
[ ] 4. Burn the BootCD (as an ISO, not a file, to a blank CD or DVD disc)
[ ] 5. Install Leopard:
[ ] a. Boot up using the BootCD (ignore the ‘missing file’ message that flashes)
[ ] b. Press Enter at the first prompt
[ ] c. Eject the BootCD and insert the Leopard DVD at the second prompt
[ ] d. Type in the 2-digit code you see on the second line and press Enter (9f, etc.)
[ ] e. After the disc loads, install Leopard like usual and reboot
* Format the drive using GUID and HFS+ in Disk Utility
* To save space, you can optionally uncheck printers, languages, etc.
* Unchecking those options also speeds up installation time
* You can skip Disk Checking

[ ] 6. Setup Leopard:
[ ] a. Boot up using the BootCD (ignore the ‘missing file’ message that flashes)
[ ] b. Press Enter at the first prompt
[ ] c. Type in “80” and press Enter at the second prompt
[ ] d. Setup Leopard like usual
* You can skip entering your Apple ID or registration information by
pressing Command + Q (or Windows + Q on a standard keyboard)
[ ] e. At the desktop, eject and remove the BootCD
[ ] 7. Software Installation, Part 1: (in the “Installation” folder)
[ ] a. Install Chameleon
[ ] b. Install 1-Click (UInstaller app)
[ ] c. Install the 601mb 10.5.5 Combo Update
[ ] d. Reboot
[ ] 8. Software Installation, Part 2: (in the “Installation” folder)
[ ] a. Install Taruga for audio
[ ] b. Run Software Update and download all updates
[ ] c. Reboot
[ ] d. Keep checking Software Update and rebooting until it’s empty
[ ] e. Disable Automatic Updates in System Preferences
[ ] 9. Test your System:
[ ] a. Shutdown
[ ] b. Restart
[ ] c. Sleep (Note: Ethernet takes 10 seconds to wake from sleep)
[ ] d. Time Machine (force backup via the menubar icon, this checks UUID fix;
alternatively try SuperDuper)
[ ] e. AFP/Bonjour (iTunes Shares, etc.)
