NOVEMBER 29, 2011 DAILY LESSON PLAN I.

PREPARATION

Overall Objectives:
the ability to comprehend the text and guess the meanings of the regular verbs in this short text, the ability to pronounce these regular verbs correctly, the ability to differentiate the sounds /t/, /d/ and /d/, the ability to understand and learn the meanings of these verbs, the ability to fill in the blanks in the activities, 1

the ability to match the verbs with suitable collocations, the ability to write sentences using past forms in the activity,

Behavioral Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: pronounce these verbs correctly, differentiate the sounds /t/, /d/, /d/, fill in the blanks with the appropriate verbs in the activity, match the verbs with appropriate collocations in the activity, write sentences using past forms in the activity,

II.PRESENTATION 1- Motivation
The teacher greets the students saying, Good evening class! Then, he asks them How are you, today? They reply, Fine, thanks and you? The teacher says, I am fine. Thank you. Then, he goes on, Are you ready for the lesson? But before starting the lesson, lets do a warm-up activity.

2- Warm-up
As a warm-up activity, the teacher wants the students to play a game called telephone game and the teacher shows a student a sentence from the short text including a regular verb. Then the game starts.

3- Stating the Instructional Objectives


After performing the warm-up, the teacher explains the aim of the lesson to the students; Today, we will learn some regular verbs. He says that they should guess the meanings of the regular verbs while reading the short text.

4- Presenting the Instructional Objectives


The teacher reads the story and wants the students to dictate the regular verbs to their notebooks. After completing this, he handouts the short story and wants them to guess the meanings of the underlined verbs. Finally, the teacher shows the verbs english equivalents. Then the teacher writes a list of some other regular verbs and wants the students to guess the

past forms of these verbs. Meanwhile, the teacher explains the meanings of these verbs by gestures and imitations and wants the students to do.

III. PRACTICE
At this stage the teacher wants the students to repeat after him and until they pronounce these verbs correctly, these repetitions go on. After that, they do exercises about the verbs meaning. Moreover, he wants them to repeat the words while answering the questions. These repetitions continues until they pronounce well. Finally, he wants them to write a sentence for some regular verbs given in the activity paper and the teacher wants them to read their sentences aloud by paying attention to the pronunciation.

IV. PRODUCTION
At this stage the students are expected to pronounce the words correctly. Also, the teacher draws a chart on the board-including /t/, /d/ and /d/ sounds- and he wants the students to write the regular past simple verbs on the board according to their ending sounds. Meanwhile, the teacher wants the students to repeat the verb after him by paying attention to the pronunciation.

V. SUMMARY
In a few words the teacher summarizes the lesson by saying Today, we have read a short text that includes regular past simple verbs and also we have learnt some other regular past simple verbs. That is, we have learnt their meanings and pronunciations of these verbs. If there isnt any problem, thats all for today. He says; See you next week.

A short Text-Regular past simple verbs Sylvia went to the market because her mum wanted some fruit. She bought some apples and oranges. But then unfortunately she knocked over a very large melon which fell onto a box. The box broke and a chicken escaped. It ran away down the street and Sylvia chased after it but she couldnt catch it. Then the chicken jumped onto a bus! So Sylvia followed it. Finally, inside the bus she caught the chicken. When the bus stopped Sylvia and the chicken got off. She felt happy until she looked around. She was completely lost!

English equivalents of the verbs


Want: to have a desire or a wish for sth

Knock over: to hit sb/sth and make them fall to the ground Escape: to get away from a place Chase after: to run, drive etc, after sb/sth in order to catch them

Jump: to move quickly off the ground or away from a surface

Follow: to come or go after or behind sb/sth

Stop: to no longer move; to make sb/sth no longer move

Look: to turn your eyes in a particular direction
