BUILDABILITY

BSB 602

Introduction
Design details are sometimes very difficult and even impossible to construct. This could be resulted from design teams not considering problems which the contractor has to face on site. It is also seen as a result of fragmentation between the design and construction practitioners (Moore, 1998).
BSB 602

Definition
Buildability can be defined as the ability to construct a building efficiently, economically and to agreed quality levels from its constituent materials, components and sub assemblies.

BSB 602

Buildability is the share of the responsibility of all those disciplines whose constitute the multidisciplinary building team including architects, engineers, surveyors, building contractors and subcontractors, and not the individual responsibility of the Architect (Griffith, 1994)
