Also collaborating with civil society, police officers and institutions, Indian military and bureaucrats in different ways for peace and conflict resolution and training in the application of nonviolent values in collaboration with Peace Centre, University of Rhode Island, United States. Recently awarded Gandhi Youth Gold Medal by Radha Bhatt, President, Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi on 27 April 2010. Authored four books and over two dozen research articles in national and international journals and edited volumes. Published over hundred topical articles in national and international newspapers and periodicals including online academic publications. Edited four research journals. Articles and presentations accepted in international conferences as well. International reviewer in international research journals. Organised national and international conferences. Completed UGC project on Cooperation and Conflict in South Asia: An Analysis in the Gandhian Framework. Main areas of interest and research within the larger fold of international politics are peace and conflict studies including conflict management, conflict resolution and conflict transformation; human security; world order studies; Indian foreign policy; South Asia and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC); United States foreign policy; contemporary global problems; political philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and its relevance to concurrent national, international and global perspectives; quest for a new political, economic and educational order; Indian Constitution; and Western political thought. Opted for a career in university teaching out of my own choice and not due to any compulsion. This profession has always been, as it were, my first love. Major Outreach Activities / Field Action: Course Director of Twenty-one days Interdisciplinary social science refresher course of ASC, Jammu University organised at the Department of Political Science from 06 26 March 2012. One national and one international seminar organised on 21 - 22 and 27 28 February 2012 respectively at University of Jammu. One field trip of about 10 teachers and faculty and 60 postgraduate students and researchers to Border areas of Poonch and Rajouri organised from 14 17 March 2012. Participated and presented research paper in Australia-India Institute International Seminar on Emerging India, 5-6 December 2011 at Calcutta University, Kolkata. Organised two international workshops in January and May 2011 with Professor Paul Buneo from Peace Centre, Rhode Island University, United States; and with Ms Lydia from US Education Foundation. Launching soon a three months certificate course on Gandhian Corporate and Business Ethics at the Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Jammu, Jammu in 2011-2012 academic session. Organise every year 10 to 20 academic outreach activities at local, national and international level. Publishing Gandhi Ganga research and activities journal of the Gandhian Centre, University of Jammu. Invited as Guest of Honour for special Lecture at Meerut University on the occasion of release of the Indian Journal of Political Science Association in December 2008. Organised an International Conference in April 2009 in collaboration with McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on the theme of Participatory Democracy and Foreign Policy sponsored by DAFIT Canada. The proposed post of a Reader / Assistant Director / Associate Professor has also been sanctioned by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir in favour of the Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at Jammu University which also stands approved in the 2008 meeting of the Council of the University of Jammu, Jammu. Degree imparting full Gandhian Studies Department is soon likely to be established at University of Jammu from 2013 onwards. Introducing Post Graduate Diploma in Gandhian Philosophy and Conflict Resolution through distance education -- stands approved in principle by the Academic Council of University of Jammu proposed by the Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at Jammu University (likely to be launched from 2013 2014 academic session soon). Organised one week long International Workshop on Displaced Persons at Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Jammu, Jammu with 12 participants from University of Tuft and University of Boston, United States and 1 from United Nations alongwith 10 participants from national and J&K media and academic community (workshop was held from 08 Aug 17 Aug 2007.

Conducted an Environment Protection Programme of two days at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine with about 70 students and teachers from Jammu schools, colleges and university (form 30 31 January 2007). Member of the Advisory Board to the Jury of Mahatma Gandhi International Peace Prize, Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource, Government of India, New Delhi, 2002-2003, 2003-2004, 2004-2005. Involved in dissemination of information and awareness through mass media as a columnist, author, editor and special invitee to discussions etc. Offered consultancy services for Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi and UGC, New Delhi from 2005 to 2008. Organised Special Lectures by Magsaysay Awardee and Special Police Commissioner of Delhi Dr Kiran Bedi, Mahatma Gandhis great grandson Shri Tushar Gandhi, Professors Yunus Ahmad (Bradford University), David Cortright (Notre Dame University) and Priyankar Upadhyaya (MCPR, BHU) on the broad themes of Crime and Civil Society, Relevance of Gandhi, India Pakistan Peace Process, Gandhi and the West and Gandhi and Conflict Resolution during April 2005 May 2006. Presented a research Paper on Wither World Peace during a three days Global Convention on Gandhi and World Peace at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi in January 2005 at GSDS. Presented a research paper on Gandhi and Conflict Resolution at an International Seminar at MCPR, Banaras Hindu University August 2004. Invited as Visiting Professor/Faculty at Calcutta University in October 2005 for special Lectures on Gandhian Philosophy and its Relevance and later at Banaras Hindu University and Madras University also. Presented a research paper on Gandhian Conception of Human Security at a national workshop in May 2004 organised by Delhi Policy Group at Jammu University. Organised a 15 Days Gandhi Festival at Jammu University and in villages around Jammu from 17 September 02 October 2004. Organised one week long Summer Camp at GSDS in August 2006 at New Delhi with more than hundred youth from schools, colleges, Jammu University and civil society of Jammu including quite a few teachers and faculty members from Jammu University and Colleges. Organised Two Days National Workshop on Managing Conflicts Peacefully: Gandhi and Beyond at Jammu University, 17 18 November 2006. Organised National Seminar on "India's Educational Priorities: Continuity and Change in National Curriculum" from 17 to 19 February 2002 at Udhampur, J&K. M.Phil. and Ph.D. internal / external Examiner in University of Jammu and other Universities. Attended about 03 international seminars / conferences; 15 national seminars / conferences at Bombay, Delhi, Jammu. Presented 10 research papers at such seminars / conferences.

Output as Research Supervisor: Five Ph.Ds and ten M.Phils awarded. Five Ph.Ds are being currently supervised. Five M.Phils are being currently supervised. One M.Phil. lately submitted. One Ph. D. at submission stage.
