Pastoral Training Our rst week was spent working through the book of 2 Timothy with these eager New Guinea pastors

Pastoral Training in Goroka 2 Timothy

Im back from New Guinea! We had an extremely blessed trip during our 3 weeks in Goroka on the To Every Tribe mission station. Our rst week was spent with a good number of Goroka/ Bena pastors walking through the book of 2 Timothy. We, as trainees of the CPCP, did the same study through the book back in late November and were trained to train others in the handling of the book itself. The pastors were all given group with several guiding pre-assigned passages from questions: the book to work on their own time and eventually would 1. What is the structure of share their work with the whole your text? How does it t within the shape and outline of your sermon? 2. What is the context of your passage? 3. How does your passage t within the big idea of the of the book? 4. Where is Christ (and the cross, the main gospel message) in your passage? 5. What is the theme (authors main point) of your passage? 6. What is the aim (authors intended application) of your passage?

Village Living Pastor Unas Village: Kiaufa

A major highlight of the trip was the week I got to spend living in Pastor Unas village. Several of us were assigned a specic pastor to live with for 1 week. My hike was over one mile up a mountain, and my greatest goal was to become as big of a learner of Una and his people as I could. I shadowed this pastor as he carried out his weekly responsibilities of:

Our lives are marked by this: We have our bible in one hand, and our tools in the other

I fell in love with this village as the days went on. I was warmly received and was gifted with much food from a variety of gardens and was held in high honor as a American guest. I did not desire to impress them with anything that would place me in a position higher than them though. As Jesus became a lowly servant, so that was my desire. I enjoyed asking every question I could think of to learn about them as a people. Before the 1950s there were practicing cannibals living among them. Now,
