POSITION SUMMARY This is a salaried administrative position, which is exempt. This position is responsible for all business and operational aspects of the shelter and is not responsible for the health and medical care of the animals. The Executive Director is a supervisory position. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Follow and hold staff accountable to all policies and procedures. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the shelter to ensure safety for the staff and animals. Manage operations of the shelter and be a steward of the shelters resources according to the policy and procedures set forth by the board. Learn the use and application of software programs the company uses to operate the business including, but not limited to Word, Excel, QuickBooks, IBGs and Pet Point. Be responsible and accountable to the board for the staffs daily job performance and conduct performance corrective actions if necessary. Conduct Annual Performance reviews in a timely manner. Work with Volunteer Coordinators to recruit, develop and schedule volunteers including writing volunteer procedures and training. Develop procedures based on ACAPL policy, to be included in an ACAPL Procedures Manual. Hold an active position on a minimum of two committees as defined by the Board of Directors. Prepare all necessary paperwork for animals going to off-site events. Be responsible for accurate record keeping, data entry, and file maintenance of the shelter. Perform Adoption Counselor duties in the absence of Adoption Counselor or when an Adoption Counselor is not scheduled. Be responsible for the shelter meeting compliance by all regulatory agencies. Notifying the board immediately of any areas of non-compliance for regulatory or safety issues for staff or animals. Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget and operating within that budget. Monthly budget variance reporting. Inventory control, maintenance, and management of all supplies and consumables to meet daily operational needs. Daily environment of care rounds with record keeping and reporting. Participate in and develop fundraisers as requested by the Board of Directors. Conduct monthly staff meetings with minutes. Generate and post a weekly staff schedule that will include the hours of all staff members, Directors and key Volunteers including surgeries. Ensure accurate time keeping of staff hours. Must maintain a minimum of a forty hour work week All other duties as assigned or needed related to the consistent operation of the shelter. Attend board meetings as requested. Provide written monthly reports for the Board of Directors with updates on animal population, status of current projects, etc. Maintain honest, open and effective lines of communication between Executive Director, the staff and Board of Directors. Operate and represent the shelter in a professional manner in keeping with the shelter's Mission Statement, Vision and Goals. Research and apply for grants 1
