Important points contributes to the change in our community in the periods Before 1985: The invention of computer Before 20th century, most people work in the industial company and manufacturer. In that era, machines has fundamental functions to help them do their job. Most of new invention on the effective and efficiency use of machine for industrial or daily life purposes followed. That time callled industrial age. In the first half of 20th century, many research had been implemented became new sophisticated product (compared to the time before that). People shocked knowing that there are another smaller machine that can help them faster. In that thime, many new fundamental technology on computer hardware and algorithm was invented. For example, the invention of semiconductor made computer hardware smaller and cheaper. Some of big computer solution company were found like IMB, HP, Microsoft, and Apple. Those are the very visionary company that finally "send" personal computer to every home desk. On the other hand, some of basic language like FORTRAN also developed. Many researcher try to find problems that could be computationally solved. Their work were implemented as standard protocol, base technology and became consorsium (ASCII, TCP/IP and IEEE). 1985 1995: The Personal Computer Era In this era, computer manufacturers started to produce computer. Computer became used not only for business purpose but also for personal. The size computer become smaller and portable. On that era, bringing a personal computer is a new culture. Computer manufacturer started to build new design to reach market. New protocol and communication technology also introduce to make this computer interconnected. Some technologies are FTP, VoIP and world wide web technology. By enabling people to get PC, some pioneer company in e-commerce also found, like Amazon.com and ebay.com. 1996 - 2005: Dotcom Boom On this timeframe, people are now realized what the power of internet can bring to their life. There are more website existing, the first-mover of e-commerce appears, Wiki and Blogs are starting to spread. Later on, with the advancement of web 2.0, people can share many kinds of content, and a website can have contributors making a user generated content website. This affecting community to become a more

connected society, where people from a part of the world can send or obtain information from other part of world in no time. 2005 - Present: Social Media Era Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and others has reached a very high number of users. Moreover the mobile device development enable almost every application to be accessed via mobile and to be reached broader users. Social media has changed the way people communicate and interact with others by cutting the time and space barrier. People could interact each other anytime and anywhere more interactively and way cheaper. Personal information which used to be a privacy and given very carefully is now published voluntary by the users itself. It makes people who far away each other feel closer with no distance. With many positive impacts given by the social media, the easiness of information gathering also increase the crime rate through internet known as : cyber crime. Information is misused as irresponsible act. What Did We Learn From History? Through the hystory, we learn that things happened with the same pattern. People has problems - they though how to solve it - then they solved that with some technology they built - another issues came up or appeared - then they tried to found a new or another way to solve them. We could understood that today's technologies are the accululated dream and hard work they achieved. By analyzing that pattern, we could learn from the past what were their dream, which are accomplished and which are just impossible. Then, we could dream our future as they did before. For years, many technology were intoduced to us. Some were gone but others won our heart and become part of our life. Human and technology itself become blend in deeper. Everyday, we don't do any activity without that. The more people use it, the more this particular technology immersed into they life, even they unaware of usefulness and it's appearance anymore (but they use it anyway). Many technology that make our daily life easier like cellphone and mouse (computer's mouse) are become ubiquity and gently change the way we interact with others. Furthermore, it become more than just tools or facilities in making our life easier. On the other hand, some of technology could be missused by irresponsible parties. For example, they collect our privacy and sell to make them profit. In fact, we are by voluntary give away our personal infomation and don't think twice what the impact by doing that. So, think it could harm us in the future, then we sould more careful what we shared by now. Another example for the overuse of technology is the amount of time somepeople spent on the internet. Sadly, some people spent more time for the internet than use it for another usefull one. They love to interact with their friend in other lands and avoid they family next to them. We agree that our life in not in the cyber world. So, make it balance is as important as finding new sophisticated

technology. We should keep in touch physically doing the direct communication with people close to us. What do we need for our community in the next 5 years in terms of new technology? Here are our findings about new technology our community need in the next five years. First, Technology for Disable people. The last new advance future technology we propose is a technology that can make disable people act and be treated equally as the "normal" people in their daily activities. In this context, it means that they can have the same access to the knowledge and entertainment, and do what they like to do. the point is, we need a technology that can make them enjoy what we ("normal" people) enjoy, do what we can do, and indirectly "remove" their disabilities. The second technology we propose is technology that have ability to make any object interconnected. This kind of technology could communicate each other. Example the use of this technology is in the transportation, we need new kind of vehicles that could communicate each others, telling each others to avoid accident, traffic jam, etc. The interconnected object is being implemented with IP physic (IPv6), but the most important is how to make our communication barried thinner by using it. We need this particular technology because today's communication has problem with lose of context and information overload. For example, we could not get any body language by interacting with peers in chat box. The next technology we think it important for next few years are smart-medicine. People dies everyday because of sick, either they can not afford a doctor, or no access to doctor, or the cure has not found yet. We wish there will be a technology to produce one medicine as cure for every disease. One medicine consumed could self detect what pain or disease a person has and kill the cause. It is a combination of multi discipline knowledge. Medicine will be embedded with a nano technology (chip) to enable the further research inside the body with the device. The medicine should be very cheap and available for everyone. The last technology we dream a lot to be implemented is better technology for our mass transportation. The problem we face today, especially in the metropolitan cities, is that our mass transportation may be the last resource to be used because of their's inappropriateness. There are a lot of bus and metromini but they produce too much polutions. While use it, we always worry about our safety because most of that are (tidak layak pakai). We need a new kind of mass transportation that could bring us safely and produce no polution. Sources:
