Lemon Gingerini

This is one of my favorite martinis! If you are afraid to drink gin, this drink will change your mind. The Lemon Gingerini incorporates ginger syrup (very easy to make at home, or substitute with fresh ginger), gin, and lemon to produce a slightly herbal and incredibly refreshing drink. [Aperitif] [Girly] [Glamour] [Happy Hour] [Poolside] [Refreshing] [Retro] [Shooter] [Simple] [Sweet]

Ingredients [ oz | cl ]
2.5 oz Hendricks Gin 0.75 oz Lemon Juice 0.5 oz Ginger Syrup
Method: Stir Glass: Cocktail

1. Before you begin - DO NOT put ginger ale in this drink. You need to either make ginger syrup, which is simple syrup (2 parts sugar dissolved into 1 part water) with a few chunks of ginger placed in it use enough ginger to give a strong ginger flavor. Or just grate about a 3/4 inch chunk of ginger and squeeze the juice from that into the drink with about a tablespoon of sugar. I hope this doesn't prevent anyone from trying this drink, because it is very good! 2. Once you have everything: Add 0.5 oz of ginger syrup (or whatever you decided on), 0.75 oz of lemon juice, and 2.5-3 oz of gin (I prefer Hendricks) to a large glass. 3. Add 4-6 ice cubes and stir until cold. 4. Serve in martini glass. 5. Garnish with candied ginger and lemon peel. 6. Make sure to squeeze lemon peel over glass before serving - this releases oils that make the drink taste better. 7. If you don't believe me compare two drinks, one with and the other without lemon oil squeezed on top.
