Final Documentation for the On-the-Job Training

On-the-job training is one method by which students is given a chance to apply the theories and computations that they have learned from their school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. This on-the-job training provides opportunities for the students to go through the actual methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipments and documents. In effect the workplace becomes a development venue for a student trainee to learn more about his chosen field and practice what he has learned from the academy. An effective OJT program also benefits the companies and organizations who accept trainees. One of the advantages of an OJT program is that it provides additional manpower for a lesser labor cost than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that they will cooperate. To sum it up, accommodating on-the-job trainees can truly be beneficial not only to the trainees but also to the companies and organization that provides opportunities for this type of learning. Such training can be an investment that will be valuable to the company later on. This is also why trainees should take their on-the-job training program seriously as it can be a powerful tool and possibly even a source of recommendation when they take that big lift from being students to career professionals.

The On-the-Job Training in General Santos City Chamber of

Commerce and Industry, Inc.

The General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. envision to be a dynamic and proactive advocate, initiator and partner in business growth and socio-economic development founded on strong social conscience. Its mission is to promote dynamic business opportunities and growth for the development of General Santos City and surrounding areas with emphasis on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); to advocate a healthy and environment-friendly workplace; to develop a strong partnership with Local Government Unit (LGU) and other local, national, and global organizations; to ensure a strong and stable organization; to campaign for patronage of General Santos City local products and services and to contribute towards a livable, competitive and socially responsive General Santos City. Going back to my on-the-job training experience at the General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., it greatly improves my skills and ability to mingle and interact with the people especially from the different walks of life. It also develops both of my oral and written communication skills and my proper phone etiquettes. The first event that, I have attended by my co-trainee Arvilyn Setanos was the Board Election 2011 and Social Networking Event which is held at the East Asia Royale Hotel. In this event we are exposed on different types of business tycoons in General Santos City which is also a member of the chamber. We are trained to deal and mingle with them. In this we are instructed to welcome and assist them especially in finding their sit to which they are comfortable. Later, I am instructed to help Sir Eric Simon to tally all the votes that they have acquire after the voting process. Intellectual Property Rights is the second event that we have attended together with my two co-trainees Arvilyn Setanos and Daryl Jay Ranario. Before the event, the three of us are very busy in preparation for the said event. I am given the tasks to be the one whom will inform and get the confirmations of our chamber members especially on how many representatives they will send to attend the seminar. Thank God the seminar becomes successful and many chamber members have attended. After a week, another event has take into place this event is called the Doing Business in Free Trade Areas, it is a two day seminar in which it is divided into two categories; the first one is the Academe Approach in which all the educational institutions are required to attend the said event while the second one isa Sectoral Approach in which are intended for the fishing sector. I am given the tasks of disseminating all the information to our chamber members through phone calls and sending letters through fax machine. I am also the one who takes initiative to formulate a letter that will be send through fax to our chamber members. On the day of the event, I am the one who assisted the visitors to their respective seats. Also, I am the one who operated the laptop

when the speaker starts her speech. At the end of the day, we are all happy to see the success of our hard work. December 17, 2011 when the Typhoon Sendong hits Cagayan and Iligan almost 6,000 people died and many of the people are left homeless. This is the most devastating typhoons that Cagayan and Iligan have experienced. The General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., have taken initiative to launch a program that will help the victims of the Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan and Iligan. I and my co-trainee Daryl Jay Ranario and Arvilyn Setanos were the one who are given the tasks to seek help to our chamber members in whatever help they can give to the victims of the disaster it maybe in kind or in cash. As a staff of the GenSan Chamber we are obliged to donate our old clothes and foods to them. We are also the one who help to repack and file the donations of our chamber members. After a month later, on February 3, 2012 at 6:00 pm in the East Asia Royale Hotel, we held the event named Grand-Oath Taking and Membership Socials in which our board of directors takes their oath in order for them to be fully recognized as a part of the board. I am the one who assisted the guest and our board members to their respective seats. I am also the one who ensures that there would be no interruptions will occur. This event is successfully held. Two weeks after, the General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. and the Socsksargen Federation of Fishing and Allied Industry, Inc., has organized an event called the Kapamilya Safe Ka Ba? A Green Valentine Concert which is held at Lagao Gym, in February 17, 2012 at 6 pm. But unfortunately, due to heavy downfall of rain the event is postponed. But they said try and try until you succeed, the GenSan Chamber and the SFFAII have move it on March 9, 2012, which is held at Lagao Gym at 3pm, now the concert is entitled Kapamilya Safe Ka Ba? Green Concer. It is a disaster-preparedness campaign in which its primary goal is to educate the people on what they can do when a disaster strikes. This event also informs the public about the important hotline numbers to call on in times of disaster. It also aims to inform all the people on what are the areas that are prone to flashfloods especially those who are situated in the lower areas of the city. This event does not only educate and inform its viewers but it also brings entertainment to them such as the performance of the local bands and talents such as the Querdas Band, the Theatro Ambahanon, the RMMC Pop Idols, City Choir, the Contortionists, and the City Dance Troupe. The last activity that was given to me is the survey about on how to get and where to get the business permit. This activity has been given to me it is because one of the role of the chamber is to serve as the one who will inform its chamber members about the requirements in applying for business permit. Also, I am instructed to get the date of the information about the deadline on which the income tax percentage will be paid.
