When compiling data on keyword phrases I incorporated input from the client, used Google trends and analytic keyword relevancy tools to make sure the keywords generated enough monthly and yearly views to warrant use and examined UMBs website source code for these specific phrases which can tie searches directly to the site. The focus is on the personal mobile banking sector which pointed me in a specific direction when searching keyword phrases, focusing on the personal banking web pages from UMBs site to take most of my keywords. Using keywords located in the title, header and meta description tags of the source code was my starting point, understanding when search engines comb through the code these tags are references they will use to connect to your site to users. Also incorporating keywords from alt tags, image descriptions, menu bars, crumb trails, header and footer descriptions of the specific web pages including: mobile banking, sms text and the banking application page1, these are pages I wanted search engines to connect as relevant. My goal is to use broad enough keywords to encompass phrases that anyone in are target demographic would use but make them specific enough to drive the traffic to UMBs personal banking web pages. The user can be redirected from the mobile banking web page to an iTunes preview page which will launch itunes allowing the app to be downloaded. It only takes three clicks from the UMB web page to download the app making it fast and convenient. This makes the UMB mobile webpage the central hub for my SEO research because the more unique user traffic flowing through the webpage will result in higher mobile banking app awareness and use.

The mobile banking page should be optimized to receive the most traffic, bypassing the UMB home page saves the users navigation time and allows the search engines to easily identify the purpose of the site. Consistently using the same keywords throughout this page will help build more efficient search results. Using the same phrases in the url, image and video description, navigation and body copy is the best way to grow organic traffic.
