Squadron Has Van & Aircraft Cleaning Party!

On Saturday morning 08 May 2010, members of the St. Croix squadron turned out in great numbers to lend a helping hand in the general washing and cleaning of our assigned Aircraft and Van. With our leader and Squadron Commander, Capt. David Yost directing traffic, all the members in attendance quickly filled the soapy buckets, grabbed some sponges and began the task at hand. which need to be done on a regular basis. It was proven once again that when we all come together we can achieve any task quickly and the duties which need to be done do not always fall upon the chosen few. With the interiors vacuumed, the windows cleaned, the exteriors soaped and rinsed and the bottom of the aircraft degreased, all members put in great efforts to get the jobs done. All members took their turns at all the different jobs needed to get done. Both of the vehicles were washed, rinsed and dried in a timely fashion the job was done in not time at all. On behalf of the Squadron commander, thank you to all who turned out for this event! An Image gallery is available for viewing pictures from this event on the squadron website.

Once you have tasted flight, forever will you walk the face of the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and it is there you will always long to return.

This is once again a chance for all members together and have some fun in a relaxed atmosphere and to do the chores

On Saturday, 20 May 2010 , members of the St. Croix Squadron had turned out to help with the Annual Blaine Aviation Days with the Anoka Squadron at the Anoka County Airport. Our members had attended Flight Line Marshal (FLM) training with the Anoka Squadron for the past 4 weeks. This was the opportunity to put all of The weather was hot, steamy and the thunder showers were abound. The day started out slow and the rain chased away the faint of heart, but the diehard aviation fans stuck around to endure the days on and off showers. For the local EAA chapter, Pancakes were the food served up of choice in the morning and hamburgers & hotdogs were the food for the afternoon. Blaine Aviation Days had a special guest show up to this event, AOPAs President Mr. Craig Fuller and his staff made a surprise visit. They came in their company aircraft which was a Cessna Citation CJ3 with the tail number N4GA.

St. Croix Launches End of Aerospace Education Module

On Thursday night 20 May 2010, the entire squadron turned out at Sod Busters model airplane field just off Manning Ave & I-94 to wrap up a two month long Aerospace Education module which involved making and launching model rockets. Under the leadership of the St. Croix squadrons Aerospace Education officer, Maj. Paul Prior, the senior staff helped the cadets who participated in making a rocket, to help pack parachutes, load rocket motors and ready their rockets for launch. Arrangements were made as to have 2 launch pads and launchers ready as to help expedite the launching of all the members rockets. All of the rockets were launched and some for a second time. Many of them reached amazingly high altitudes in their trip skyward. All of the members in attendance had a great time and everything went off as planned. Some of the rockets went straight and true while a few others has some less than spectacular malfunctions and varied flight paths. All but a

The Chaplains Corner Breathe Deep, Fly High

You are probably wondering what this little phrase means. Well, it is going to be the name of our chaplains Corner for future articles in our Squadrons Newsletter. The phrase is actually a greeting that is found in the movie Dinatropia. The greeting occurs when someone who is a worker of the earth (planters and harrowWilliam Martinez C/Airman First Class ers) greets someone who is the sky (a flyer). For me, how appropriate to call our chaplains corner this beEthan Pike C/Master Sergeant cause of what we do best and that is to Fly High! As we develop this section of our newsletter, I hope to Mohammad Battah Wright Brothers touch issues of leadership focused on those things that shape our morals, values and virtues. These are the Mohammad Battah C/Staff Sergeant items that I feel are core to shaping who we are, how we live, and how we conduct ourselves as members of Samantha Carlstrom C/Airman First Class an elite force called The Civil Air Patrol.
