But more than speed, we focus our energies on accuracy. Currently, we seek a Director, Lab Operations. Responsibilities This position will have responsibility for the lab operations of the Cambridge, MA Business Unit. This Business Unit generates approximately $220M in revenues, employs approximately 900 employees and processes 15,000 requisitions per day. 250 employees. In addition to managing laboratory quality, productivity and costs, the Lab Ops Director will participate on the Senior Leadership Team and help develop the strategic direction for the business unit. Responsibilities include: Lead the day to day lab operations of the Cambridge, MA site, hospital laboratories and rapid response laboratories. Drive quality, service and productivity while managing costs. Ensure corporate strategies, (e.g.: standardization, systems) are implemented collaboratively and effectively. Develop direct reports and successors. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations and company policies. Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the laboratory operations, including Six Sigma quality and processes. Support and/or lead cross-functional initiatives as needed Partner with Sales to ensure customer service and subject matter expertise is provided as needed Manage the operations budget and oversee all capital expenditure requests are submitted appropriately Quality Index Key Test TAT National Quality Audits Clinical Pathology Implementation and compliance with new SOPs, reference ranges, etc. Productivity and Efficiency Customer Satisfaction New Test Implementation Training and Development Employee Engagement Index Supervisor/Managerial Effectiveness Menu includes significant esoteric testing, much like a specialty laboratory. Mass has become a strong competitor along with multiple smaller lab start-ups. High potential for growth in a large medical market. Experience managing a large, complex commercial or reference laboratory with routine and esoteric tests. Prior expense management including operating and capital budget development and control. Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects. Demonstrated results developing people with positive results. Understanding of how to manage and motivate a large team of non-exempt employees through other managers. Demonstrated results to successfully manage and drive change. Certified Green Belt or Black Belt desired. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management at the business unit and at corporate, as well as medical professionals inside and outside the company. Strategic business acumen and strong analytical skills. Experience in a highly regulated healthcare environment. Focuses on the patient and the customer. High standards for quality and delivering results. A respected leader who can build and lead effective teams Creates environment which supports high productivity, quality and continuous innovation to deliver exceptional results. Excellent communications, including presentation skills that allow this person to communicate a compelling vision to a large, diverse workforce Strong organizational, interpersonal, strategic and tactical leadership skills High integrity and personal accountability Active leader who participates at all levels of the organization Required: Bachelors degree required. Advanced science degree desired. ASCP certification desired. A MBA in addition to a science degree would be a great credential for this job.
