CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION
Health remains one of the biggest challenges for students today. Students are considered most important aspect of the future but because of health problems most students cannot perform well both in their school and house. In order to help the students we must know their complain and problems. Understanding this prerequisite can help students to achieve better in their studies.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study is aimed to assess the different motivating factors affecting the job performance of the employees of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. To delve into specifics of this investigation, the following questions were answered: 1.Does PUP students been troubled by any illness this SY 2011-2012? 2.What are the particular health problems did they encountered? 3.How frequent did PUP students experience those such health problem? 4.What are the top 3 health problem commonly encountered? 5.How does this health problem affect there study? 6.What are the initial steps did they did whenever they have a illness? 7.How long does it take for them to recover from such illness?

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

This study was conducted to assess the different health problem or complains of the students of Polytechnic University of the Philippines. This study is delimited to evaluation of students health this SY 2011-2012.The concentration of this research is to show the most common illness that university students encountered.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
The terms below are defined conceptually and operationally to furnish a common ground for understanding, clarity, and communication between the researchers and the readers. Researchers the person engage in research Troubled disturb Percentage the result obtained by multiplying a number by percent Question an interrogative expression often used to test knowledge Student an attentive and systematic observer Cough an act or sound of coughing Cold having or being a temperature that is uncomfortable low for human Health problems illness Fever a rise of body temperature above the normal

THE RESEARCH PROCEDURE/METHODOLOGY Research design

The study used the descriptive survey method or research utilizing questionnaire checklist in fulfilling the objective of the study that is What are the common health problems that PUP students of SY 2011-2012 encountered.A survey questionnaire was employed to solicit the perceptions and performances of the students of PUP. This pattern reveals condition or relationships that exist or do not exist, practices that prevail or don prevail, beliefs or points of view or attitudes that are held or not held, processes that are going on or otherwise effects that are being felt or trends that are developing; thus it was chosen as the design of the present study which aimed to determine and analyze the factors that causes health problems of the students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Respondents
This research study selected students of PUP of different age, sex, and course. A total of

50 respondents were asked to answer the questionnaire developed by the researchers regarding the information needed for which this study is used.

Instrument

In this research the author use close-ended questionaire. This kind of questions are hard to prepare because the author makes multiple choices but this kind of research instrument is more easy to quantify.

Data gathering procedure

The research phase was conducted during the 2nd semester of School Year 2011-2012 entailing the following activities: 1. A survey-questionnaire was drafted by the researchers and presented to their professor

for approval. 2. 3. 4. The survey-questionnaire was distributed by the researchers to the students of PUP. The researchers retrieved the questionnaire from their respondents. After retrieving the questionnaire, the researchers made the tally sheet and then prepared

the tables for statistical treatment, presentation, analysis, and interpretation.

Statistical
For the statistical treatment, the researchers made use of the percentage to quantify the date gathered, wherein they used a simple percentage formula:

P = / N x 100
Wherein: P = percentage n = response N = total # of responses
