Any laminiscated sandstone available in uniform thickness is called flag stone Thickness of the flooring varies from 20 to 40 mm Sub grade is prepared by laying a 10 to 15 cm thick layer of lime concrete over a bed of well consolidated earth. On the subgrade well wetted flag stones are laid on 20 to 25 mm thick layer of bed mortar. When the stone slabs are properly set, mortar in the joints are raked our to a depth of about 20mm and flush pointed with cement mortar (1:3) Slope of 1 to 40 is necessary to be give in flag stone flooring for proper drainage It hard, resistance to wear and tear, used in workshops, motor sheds and godowns, easily repairable, easy in construction Not pleasant looking and uncomfortable

Tiled Flooring
Depending upon the material used it can be divided in following categories: 1) Terrazzo flooring 2) Chequered tile flooring 3) Glazed tile flooring
Floors
Terrazo tiles manufactured under hydraulic pressure, Available in different size 1) 200X200X20 mm 2) 250X250X22mm 3) 300X300X25 mm Total thickness of the tile comprise of two layers, upper layer and backing layer Upper layer is 5mm to 6mm thick and consists of mix of cement, marble chip aggregated and pigments. Backing consists of leaner mix of cement and aggregate usually taken in proportion of 1:3 Laying, curing, polishing
Floors 10
Chequred tiles are available in different standard size 1) 200X200X22 mm 2) 250X250X22mm 3) 300X300X22 mm Method of laying tile is identical to that of terrazzo tile flooring except that the polishing of the tile has to be done by hand.
Floors 11
Glazed tiles manufactured under hydraulic pressure, Available in different size 1) 100X100X 5 to 6 mm 2) 150X150X 5 to 6mm Tile have only top surface glazed, laid over the sub grade of concrete or R C C slab.

Mosaic Flooring
Over the hard base concrete bed, a 5 cm to 6 cm thick layer of lime surkhi mortar is spread in a small area. Flooring can be easily completed in that portion without the mortar getting dry. On this layer, paste consisting of two parts of slaked lime and one part of powered marble and one part of puzzolana is laid in thickness not exceeding 3 mm. Surface left to get dry for four hours Tiles or marble pieces, but to the desired shapes, are then hammered on this surface in the desired pattern. The surface is gentle rolled by light stone roller about 30 cm. in dia and 45 to 60 cm in length, rolling is done till the tile or marble pieces from an even surface and are cemented together properly
