TEACHER: Jayme Braida GENERAL FOCUS OF THE PLAN: SPECIFIC GOALS (Written in a manner that allows for progress to be measured): DISTRICT GOAL: 1. Chariton Community Schools 2010-11 Annual Improvement Goal for Reading is to increase the percent of 2010-11 tenth grade students earning a score considered proficient or above (41%-99%) on the Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED) Reading Comprehension test as compared to their performance as ninth graders (64.0% proficient). 2. Chariton Community Schools 2010-11 Annual Improvement Goal for Math is to increase the percent of 2010-11 eleventh grade students earning a score considered proficient or above (41%-99%) on the Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED) Math Concepts and Problems test as compared to their performance as tenth graders (69.1% proficient). Chariton Community Schools 2010-11 Annual Improvement Goal for Science is to increase the percent of 2010-11 eleventh grade students earning a score considered proficient or above (41%-99%) on the Iowa Tests of Educational Development (ITED) Science test as compared to their performance as tenth graders (61.9% proficient). Chariton Community Schools 2010-11 Annual Improvement Goal for Technology is to continue to expect 100% of 2010-11 eighth grade students to earn a score considered proficient or above on the district-developed technology assessment. Chariton Community Schools 2010-11 Annual Improvement Goal for School Climate is to increase the average daily attendance for all district students compared to the average daily attendance of 2009-10. BUILDING GOALS: 1. (ACADEMIC) Each grade level, 3-5, will have 82% of their students reach the 41st percentile or above using national norms on the ITBS Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, and Language Tests. Action Plan: - Continue to use district curriculum to guide instruction. - Teachers will learn new instruction strategies from professional development training using Teacher Quality money. - Analyze BRI, Saxon Math tests, writing probes, science exams, and MAP data to make instructional decisions. 2. (ACADEMIC) Percentage of students taking the MAP Test in grades 3 through 5 will increase levels from fall to spring. Action Plan: - Use data from MAP tests to drive instruction. - Gain knowledge from data to learn how to meet the needs of individual students.

3. (TECHNOLOGY) All Van Allen students will use technology to enhance their learning.
Action Plan: - Provide more opportunities for students to use technology. - Give teachers more training on how to use technology. - More technology will be available for teachers and students to use.

4. (SCHOOL CLIMATE) Student attendance will increase from 2009-2010 totals.

Action Plan: - Staff will continue teaching bullying lessons. - Continue training staff on bullying. - Staff will greet students as they enter the classrooms. - All staff will hand out five lightning bolts each week.

What specific strategies and activities will help to accomplish your goal? -Readers Theater -Continue to implement Buddy Reading into daily schedule, but include all students. *Currently Buddy Reading is held during the time students are at Title I -Timed fluency probes, with students tracking their own progress during Buddy Reading 3. What artifacts will be available for you to use as evidence that your plan is working? BRI Scores, fluency probes
INDIVIDUAL GOAL(S): 1. All students will meet their fall to spring goals for math on MAP tests. RATIONALE FOR THE PLAN:

What specific strategies and activities will help to accomplish your goal? -Daily word problems -More frequent use of manipulatives -Use of MAP data from fall to drive math instruction 3. What artifacts will be available for you to use as evidence that your plan is working? MAP scores, Formative assessment in math including open ended questions, written assessment from Saxon
