Course outline: day TWO Using pictures effectively. Using Radio and Television. Feature-tracking getting your company quoted in regular magazine and on-line journal features. Letters to the editor, customer testimonials and other tools. On-line - Web Marketing and PR. Getting the interview. Media Training session with journalist. How to get your message across; what to do; what to avoid; tricks by journalists and how to counteract them. Course outline: day THREE How to create a public relations plan that adds value to your business. Step-by-step guide to creating a workable plan: including how to generate your messages, soundbites and deliverables. Reviewing the results how do you know it is working? Handling a PR Crisis. In depth press release writing advanced session. Includes: identifying news angles, spotting dangerous avenues, interviewing customers and your own staff, time to practise writing your own. Journalist advisor on hand to give confidential feedback. Choosing and using a PR agency.

Our Expert Facilitator: Edwin Naidu.

Edwin Naidu is an experienced PR, Marketing & communication Director. He does Formulation of strategy and strategic intelligence, Media Liaison & Managing information systems. He has worked in various Organisations such as DStv, Fox channels , Top TV as well as eTV. He has also worked as a media consultant (corporate communications) and freelance journalist, handling several assignments linked to public relations and editing. He consults for several educational organisations around media or public relations strategy, drawing up of press releases, editing of in-house brochures and advising on corporate strategy. Edwin co-wrote a booklet for the Department of Arts, Science, Culture for distribution at World Summit on Sustainable Development. He wrote and edited WaterDome pages of Summit Star at WSSD & edited a publication for the British Council and managed the media campaign for the South African Congress for Early Childhood Development world conference in October & Handled PR for Ster-Kinekor (Bollywood) and SA Life College. Edwin visited Cyprus and Greece (1999) as guest of both governments to look at the ongoing conflict in Northern Cyprus. Covered United Nations Economics Commission conference on technology for developing nations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (1997). Edited special project. Received four-month scholarship to America on World Press Institute programme. Also worked as Saturday news editor. Received a Reuter Scholarship to Oxford University (1995). Visited Egypt on media tour and wrote a travel piece. He has done various studies at University of the Witwatersrand, Institute for Advancement of Journalism, Gauteng Newspapers Training Centre, to mention a few.
