BENEFITS
RSLogix programming products are designed to help increase your productivity. FLEXIBLE, EASY-TO-USE EDITORS Flexible program editors let you create application programs without worrying about getting the syntax correct as you create your program. The Project Verifier builds a list of errors that you can navigate to make corrections at your convenience. Powerful online editing features let you modify your application program while the process is still operating. The Test Edits feature allows you to test the operation of your modification before it becomes a permanent part of the application program. Online and offline editing sessions are limited only by the amount of available RAM. The Sequential Function Chart (SFC) editor found in RSLogix 5 shares the same simple drag-and-drop editing found in the common ladder logic editor. RSLogix 5 includes a Structured Text (STX) editor, as well. The RSLogix 5 SFC and STX editors are based on IEC 1131-3, allowing you to leverage your knowledge of this standard as you develop application programs. Drag-and-drop editing lets you move or copy instructions from rung to rung within a project, rungs from one subroutine or project to another, or data table elements from one data file to another. You can even move program elements between the RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, and RSLogix 5000 programming packages.

DIAGNOSTICS AND TROUBLESHOOTING TOOLS Compare Compare ladder and data file images just like in A.I. Series software. Compare detects inserted, deleted, moved, and modified ladder rungs and detects differences in data table content and size. This function also offers various configurations: online vs. offline, offline vs. online, and online vs. online. When comparing, you can choose to: View by exception Detect RLL differences Detect data table differences You can view the differences graphically in a side-by-side view or as a report. Advanced Diagnostics Quickly locate the specific area in the application that is causing a problem with Advanced Diagnostics. Diagnose the interaction of output instructions within a section of your program by viewing them at the same time.

RSLogix products allow you to view different sections of your ladder code at the same time using multiple windows. Custom Data Monitor Simultaneously examine the status of bits, timers, counters, inputs, and outputs all in one window with the Custom Data Monitor. Each application project you create can have its own Custom Data Monitor window. Multiple views of your data RSLogix 5 and 500 provide an easy-to-use Address/Symbol Editor that allows the user to edit, create, and search for all Tag elements in a project from a single view. View projects as multiple ladder, SFC, or structured text files in a tabbed window, an individual window for each ladder file, or any combination of the two techniques. The application logic can be viewed simultaneously with multiple data table monitors, CDMs, or database.

Easily review status bit settings specific to your application, including Scan Time information, Math Register information, Interrupt settings, and more with the tabbed Status displays. Histogram The RSLogix 5 Histogram function allows you to monitor a data table word as either text or a graphical timing chart. POWERFUL, TIMESAVING FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY Compatibility Projects developed with DOS programming packages from Rockwell Software A.I. Series, 6200 Series, APS, and MPS can be moved to the RSLogix environment simply by opening the existing project with the appropriate RSLogix package. Conversely, it is just as easy to move a project developed with RSLogix to any of the DOS programming packages. Context menus for common software tools are quickly accessible by right-clicking on addresses, symbols, instructions, rungs, or other application objects. This convenience provides you with all the necessary functionality to accomplish a task within a single menu. This is a timesaving feature because you dont have to remember the placement of functionality options in the menu bar. Dot Commands RSLogix 5 and 500 now support Dot (Portal) Commands. There are 35 commands supported, including: Auto-Address Wizard The Auto-Address Wizard significantly speeds you through the creation of rungs and reduces keying errors. As you type an address, the wizard pops up a list of symbols and data file types matching the text you have entered. You can select a symbol or data file type from the list. If you select a data file type, the wizard leads you through creating an address using the next available data file element. If you dont want to select from the pop-up list, simply continue entering your address. The Auto-Address Wizard functions in an IntelliSense-like way, providing you a display of: Current symbols matching the characters entered Next available element in existing data file of the characters entered Next available element in a new data file of the characters entered

Assistance on Demand If you do not understand an RSLogix function or have a question about a processor instruction, you can access the comprehensive online Help system and PLC instruction reference. The Help system even includes step-by-step instructions to lead you through many common activities.
