August 21,2011 Dear Students and Families: I hope this letter finds you all well rested and eager for another exciting school year in Orting Schools! Freshmen are excited for this important transition to high school. Our 1(fit and 11tit graders bring experience and wisdom from their prior years in school, and are beginning to plan beyond high school Our senior class will take the leadership reins at OHS in a couple weeks, as the 10 l" class of Orting High School seniors is about to begin their last and final year in public schools. In this time of transition, I find myself thinking, "How will this school year be different than for those students 100 years ago?" "What will our students today need from us in Orting Schrnls that will ensure success for each of them over the next 50 years?" "What role can each of us play to ensure that all of our students are prepared for college, careers and life?" I am very excited to begin this work and I know our staff is as well I am pleased to join this wonderful community as the new Principal of OHS. Also new this year is our Dean of Instruction, Mr. Aaron Lee. Joining the administrative team as the Dean of Discipline will be a familiar face in Mr. MaI1y Parkhurst. He will continue as coach and Athletic Director. Together, with a wonderful group of certificated and classified staff, we will do our very best to ensure the success of all of our students. The focus of our work this year will include:
