Directives for Lent

I. Days of penance in the United States:
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are
days of abstinence from meat and also
of fast, that is limited to a single full
meal.
The other Fridays of the season of
Lent are days of abstinence from
meat.
The Fridays of the year outside Lent
remain days of penance, but each indi-
vidual may substitute for the tradi-
tional abstinence from meat.

II. Those bound to fast and abstain:
All those who are 14 years old and
older are bound by the law of absti-
nence.
The law of fast binds all who are 18
years and not yet 59 years old.

Hunger Awareness Dinner

Join us Saturday, March 17
th
after the 5 p.m. Mass for some Irish food, fellowship
and fun. We will be raising money to send our teens to the Appalachias this sum-
mer to serve the poor of Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin and Martin counties, some of the
poorest counties in any state in the U.S.
Tickets are $10.00 each, children under 12 under free. Contact Lisa Downs for more

Learning and Living Our Faith
The Difference Jesus Makes!

Our Lady of Lourdes Church is the location for this 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., March
31st event. Keynote speakers include Archbishop Kurtz and Deacon Greg Hall
(owner of the drilling company that freed the trapped Chilean miners). The Confer-
ence will bring an opportunity for men to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ
bringing benefits to each participant, their families and their Parish Community.

The March schedule for the Moms club is March 1, Moms Night out at Milla
Nova; March 5, Family Mass; March 14, Preschool Story time; March 15, Family
Adoration 10:30 a.m.; March 22, Playgroup at St. Francis and March 30, Playgroup

WALKATHON

If you havent already, be sure and mark your calendars for our first ever Walkathon
on Sat., March 31 starting at 8:45 a.m.at Bullitt East High School. To participate,
please fill out a Walkathon pledge form and return it to the parish office or place it
in the collection basket by Sunday, March 11. With each minimum $25 collected
pledge, each walker receives a t-shirt and water bottle! Extra walkathon forms are
available at each of the church entrances. Make plans to come!

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS FISH FRY
All are welcome

Knights of Columbus will be hosting their annual Lenten Fish Fry on Fridays start-
ing at 4:00 p.m., eat-in parish hall or carry out. The price for the dinners is $8.00.
