ABSTRACT
The project is about the study on Recruitment and selection process in TVS SUNDARAM INDUSTRIES LTD Chennai, tamilnadu. According to ARTHUR LEWIS: There are great differences in development between countries which seem to have roughly equal resources, so it is necessary to enquire into the difference in human behaviors The project report is all about recruitment and selection process thats an important part of any organization. Recruitment highlights each applicants skills, talents and experience. Their selection involves developing a list of qualified candidates, defining a selection strategy, identifying qualified candidates, thoroughly evaluating qualified candidates and selecting the most qualified candidate. Every organization needs have well recruitment to select the knowledge person to perform the activities that have to be done. The useful recruitment and selection process is to improve productivity, improve quality, helps company to fulfill personal needs, improve organizational climate, improve health safety, the major objectives of this study is: To find out the current practices adopted for the recruitment of the potential candidate and To learn what is the process of recruitment and selection that should be followed. The major recruitment method used in TVS SENDARAM INDUSTRIES LTD into two categories, namely Direct method and Indirect method. Both primary and secondary data are used for data collection. Employees in TVS SUNDARAM INDUSTRIES LTD were 25 out of which the number of samples collected was 20. Sampling technique used is simple random sampling method. In order to arrange and interpret the collected data statistical tools were used: percentage method, graphical method and weighted average method. The major findings of this study are: 55% of employees strongly agreed that internal sources are best for recruitment. iv

Majority of the employees strongly agreed that direct method is best for recruitment. Majority 35% of employees agreed that employee referral is best to adopt the candidate in the resourcing policy. 50% of employees agreed that 10 to 20 mins time is spent for recruitment. 35% of employees agreed that professional background check is followed during the verification.40% of employees opinion on the HR personnel during the recruitment process is GOOD.85% employees agreed that maximum only 2 stages are involved during the selection process. Majority of the employees strongly agreed that personal interview test methodology is mostly used in selection process. All of the employees agreed that personal interview is mostly used in interview during the selection process. Majority of the employees strongly agreed that medical tests are mainly used during the selection process.40% of employees give first preference to knowledged persons during the selection process Majority of the employees strongly agreed that mixed interview is mostly used during the selection process.All of the employees agreed that manual process is mostly used to select the candidate.
