Carla Mae A. Boston N43 Reflection Care of Client with Eyes and Ears Disorder

There are lots of eyes and ears disorders being diagnosed and among them, I was able to have care with the 60 year old woman with Right Cataract who had been at the Operating Room an hour ago before she was transferred to the Ward and been assigned under my care though I was not the direct student nurse assigned to her but I was assigned as the vital signs so I was still able to give care to her. She was still under a 15 minute monitoring and I assessed her every 15 minute. I was able to instruct her proper positioning and all but I guess she failed to hear it because she was sleepy. With that, her relatives manage to move her. Provide Knowledge-skill-attitude when caring a patient with Eyes and Ears Disorder. Caring for patient with a visual difficulty can be a little stressful. The patient had a Right Operation for Cataract. With that, you have to guide her to move especially if she was moving to right because of her limitation. I was able to give proper health teaching to them and they participated and eagerly listened to me. I was thankful with that. Give two ways to reinforce learning. In this exposure, student nurses will have direct observation on how a family lives, usual food they serve, the things they usually do, their individual chores, their health status, etc. Building rapport is am important component before anything else because the family will not receive you if they do not trust you. The Family I was assigned was a welcoming family in the area. they are very participative in my activities which aims to promote health in their family. I was able to appreciate the way they live and the things they usually do. I respected their religion which is Filipinista. They are very well-informed in terms of health. There are diseases they know how to respond though they do not usually go to the Public Health Center; they go straight to hospital in Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital.

Carla Mae A. Boston N43 Reflection Patient Care Management Head Nursing

When I was assigned as the Head Nursing of the week, I was very nervous with things I will be doing in the ward. I know that I do not leader-manager qualities and if I have, then, it was not so big unlike the others. One of the things I was nervous about was the perceptions of my group mates that I will be not-so-good like the others. I really do not like comparison, but can I stop what they were thinking at that time. The first day was okay because even though I was confused with my activities, I was able to finish my tasks on time. I thankful with the group I had because they are competent in terms of caring with their patient. Though there are times were I felt like crying because of insubordination and disrespect. I was able to manage them, but not that much. I simply cannot change those who disrespect me over a week, I do not mind as well because it is such a waste of time. If my words of warning is not a warning for the, then there is really nothing I can do. For me, head nursing is a very nice and memorable

experience because I was able to assess myself. With this, I was able to see what I was lacking, what I need to develop and what I need to maintain.
