Criada em agosto de 1943, a FEB (Fora Expedicionria Brasileira) teve 25.334 soldados lutando ao lado dos Aliados na Segunda Guerra Mundial. Atuou no norte da Itlia, onde foi incorporada ao 5 Exrcito Americano. Inicialmente constituda por uma Diviso de Infantaria, abrangeu tambm os efetivos da Marinha e Aeronutica, com homens e mulheres envolvidos no esforo de guerra. Permaneceu em combate por 239 dias, enfrentando dez divises alems e trs italianas, com aproximadamente 3000 soldados feridos e 467 mortos. As foras brasileiras tiveram pouco tempo de preparo e enfrentaram frio de at 25 graus negativos. Isto no impediu que cumprissem seu papel com destaque, sendo vitoriosas em oito grandes batalhas e fazendo prisioneiros cerca de 25000 alemes.
Created in August 1943, the FEB (Brazilian Expeditionary Force) had 25,334 soldiers fighting alongside the Allies in World War II. They served in northern Italy, where it was incorporated into the 5th U.S. Army. Initially consisting of one Infantry Division, also included the Navy and Air Force troops, with men and women involved in the war effort. Remained in combat for 239 days, facing ten German and three Italian divisions, with approximately 3000 wounded soldiers and 467 dead. The Brazilian forces had little time to be prepared, facing cold up to 25 degrees Celsius below zero. This did not stop them to carry out their role with emphasis, being victorious in eight major battles and making about 25,000 German prisoners.
