BITS, PILANI: I SEMESTER 2011-12 ADMISSION TO HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMMES

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE BEEN OFFERED PROVISIONAL ADMISSION 1. (a) Check the website http://www.bitsadmission.com/hd to find out the higher degree program to which you have been offered admission. (b) If this offer is acceptable to you, please send in advance the requisite fees of Rs 79,000/(Admission fees and One semester fees) for admission to the higher degree program of the Institute so that the same is received in the Admissions Office, BITS, Pilani 333031(Rajasthan) latest by 5.00 P.M. 8th July 2011. The fee payment can be done in one of the following modes. By cash payment at all ICICI Bank branches through a challan which is to be printed from the above link. (after Paying the fee send Institute copy to Admissions officer, BITS, Pilani333031 before deadline by speed post or registered post) Through Demand Draft drawn in favour of BITS, Pilani payable at SBI-Pilani (Code:11309) or UCO Bank-Pilani (Code:0150) or ICICI Bank- Pilani (Code:1538)

(c) On 9th July, 2011 after removing the names of the candidates who do not pay fees before the deadline, another iteration of the program assignment may be done and you may be slided upto one of the higher degree programme as per the preferences given in your application. Please be sure to check the website on 10th July, 2011. Note: Whenever you are admitted to a programme, you are kept on a waiting list for programmes of your higher preferences. Until all admissions for I Semester 2011-2012 are completed, any vacancy in any programme caused by non-acceptance of the offers will be filled by offering the vacant seat to the next candidate in the order of merit. This process is called Sliding-Up. According to the Institute rules, your acceptance of the admission offer implies that you will be automatically considered for sliding up to programme of higher preference as indicated in your application form, under the above circumstances. 2. Reporting for admission a. Please report with all your original certificates, mark sheets of the qualifying degree etc. at Admissions Office of the Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad campus at 8.30 A.M. on 28th July, 2011. If you are offered admission to a higher degree program at Pilani campus you should report at the Pilani campus, if you are offered admission to a higher degree program at the Goa campus you should report at Goa campus and if you are offered admission to a higher degree program at the Hyderabad campus you should report at Hyderabad campus. b. On the reporting day you should submit the original marksheets and qualifying degree certificate. If your final result of the qualifying examination is not available on the reporting date i.e. 28th July, 2011 then you should have atleast already appeared in all exams of final year and you should submit your qualifying degree and marksheets latest by 1st October, 2011. If you do not submit the original qualifying degree and marksheets by 1st October, 2011, your admission to the program will be automatically discontinued and no fees will be refunded and you will be asked to leave the institute immediately. Further if the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination is below 60%, the offer of Provisional admission stands automatically cancelled. No further extension of date for submission of final results of the qualifying examination will be given. c. On the Reporting day you will be interviewed by a team of senior professors of the Institute This interview will not change the merit position of the candidate. However if the candidate fails to show up for the interview, the admission offer will be automatically cancelled.

d. Finalization of the admission is subject to the following: You should fulfill all the eligibility criteria You are found medically fit by a registered medical practitioner (proforma attached) Submission of the following original mark sheets and certificates with a photocopy of each: - Matriculation/10th pass certificate - Mark sheet or grade card for all years/semesters of the qualifying degree - Final/ provisional degree certificate of the qualifying degree e. In addition to the advance fees specified above on the date of reporting you will be required to pay a sum of Rs. 12250/- (if you are to report at Pilani campus) and a sum of Rs.14250/- (if you are to report at Goa campus) and a sum of Rs.17250/- (if you are to report at Hyderabad campus) which includes Institute caution deposit, hostel fee, students union fee, etc. This amount has to be paid by Demand draft only as specified below If you are reporting at Pilani Campus - drawn in favour of BITS, Pilani payable at UCO Bank-Pilani (Code: 0150) or ICICI Bank- Pilani (Code: 1538) or SBI-Pilani (Code: 11309). If you are reporting at Goa Campus - drawn in favour of BITS Pilani, KK Birla Goa Campus", payable at SBI, BITS Pilani, Goa Centre branch, (Branch Code 10720). If you are reporting at Hyderabad Campus - drawn in favour of BITS, Pilani payable at SBH, BITS, Pilani Hyderabad Branch (Code: 21092). (i) (ii) (iii)

f. Hostel accommodation is provided to the candidates at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campus of the Institute. g. Admission will be followed by an orientation from 30th to 31st July and registration on 1st August, 2011. The classes will start immediately thereafter and students should come prepared for the same. h. (iii) Reporting at Hyderabad campus: On arrival at Hyderabad Campus, please contact Dr. P. Rao Chief Warden, for hostel accommodation, Phone No.:9010202882 Parents accompanying their wards will have to make their own arrangements for stay. The Institute cannot provide accommodation to them. However, they can stay temporarily for a very short time along with their wards in their wards hostel rooms. In the case of girl students only the female guardian accompanying the girl can stay with her temporarily for a very short time. 3. REFUND OF FEES The candidate who has paid advance fees but his final result is not declared by the day of reporting i.e. 28th July, 2011, will be given time till 1st October, 2011 to submit the original copies of the results. He he/she fails to do so then the admission offer will be cancelled and he/she will be NOT be given any refund of the fees paid by him. If the candidate reports on the specified date and submits all the required documents but subsequently withdraws before or after the registration, the total fees will be forfeited. Only caution deposit money and mess advance will be refunded to him after deduction of dues, if any.
