SHORT HISTORY OF BARANGAY POBLACION VALENCIA, BUKIDNON: 1987-2001

ABSTRACT The primary objective of the study is to determine a short history of Barangay Poblacion Valencia, Bukidnon: 1987-2001. The study aims: 1. to determine how barangay government evolve, 2. to determine the major programs and projects implemented by the barangay government in areas of infrastructure, heath services, peace and order, 3. to determine problems challenges encountered by barangay government in the pursuit of the programs and projects. The study focused on events, starting 1987 a year after the EDSA uprising took placed and new national leaders of the nations were installed. The study centered on the programs and projects of the barangay government in the area of infrastructure, health services, peace and order. Likewise attention was also given on the problems and challenges encountered by barangay government in the period mentioned, to give a picture how barangay government responded and pursued its mandate. The analyzed data were presented using narrative-descriptive approach to come up with the history of the barangay for the period covered. From the inquiry of the study, the researcher had found our following, the study revealed that Barangay Poblacion, Valencia City already appeared as a pueblo in the 1980s. In the later years, it became one of the barrios of the Municipality of Malaybalay and a school was established in the barrio in 1911. These can be seen or manifested through the projects they have planned and executed which can be observe and views by the locals of the Barangay Poblacion. The progress of the Barangay Poblacion will not be attained without the support provided by the city government and agencies who helped improved the Poblacion. The Barangay officials have indeed properly implemented social services such as health care, education, peace and order and it is also acknowledge the progress of Barangay Poblacion is nothing without the support given by the locals. Progress of Poblacion did not overnight it took decades to develop Poblacion in what it is now. The research recommend conductive further study on a short history of Barangay Poblacion Valencia City, Bukidnon from 1987-2001 since there were limitation encountered during the conduct of this studies. It is recommended to have a vast resource with regards to the subject/topic in order to provide more knowledge and reviews to the topic. Recommendation to the barangay officials/any government employee it is recommended that the barangay officials keep their records and provide monthly or annual reports so that the public would have resources to look into with regards to the activities and development conducted by the barangay officials.

It was clearly defined and can be easily identified. Through extensive and careful historical research, a researcher can come up to a solution to the problem. The study can be accomplished and problems would be answered within the competence of the researcher provided that he has the characteristics of an ideal researcher. Although the author used secondary sources, there was no overdependence because he also used primary sources like records provided and kept by the city. He also interviewed people who are experts in their own fields, examples of his interviewees are librarian, councilor, etc. The data collected by the author is reliable and can be effective sources of information. The data was analyzed and presented using narrative-descriptive approach and the results presented were matching with the data he had gathered. The study is significant in a sense that it can be a source of information for an inquiring mind. It can feed information for anyone who needs knowledge about the history of Barangay Poblacion Valencia, Bukidnon for the period of 1987-2001. Although the information presented is not of considerable number, it can somehow provide some information which are also relevant. As far as we have observed, there were no biases in the conduct of the study. The processes were not manipulated and the papers from which he got some of the information were showed in the appendices. Upon reading, we have observed a lot of parts which are grammatically wrong. Also, there are a lot of clerical errors.
