orn on the 11th of May 1904, Salvador Dali, a famous Spanish surrealistic artist emerged as one of the main representatives of surrealism. He joined the Surrealists in 1929, and his brilliant talent rapidly made him the most popular of his time. Salvador Dali is famously known for the Great Masturbator and the Persistence of Memory. Along with Salvador, there are quite a few artists that represent the art of surrealism in many different ways, and in their own styles. Since surrealism has no limit of reality, many of these works by the artists are incredibly bizarre, as they trigger the minds of the audience, and engage the audience to think and try to comprehend what the art works are portraying. Surrealism was developed from the Dada movement that began during the horrible time of WWI. Dada was a literary and artistic movement that sparked up in Europe, and the word Dada was created as the catch phrase to represent the least amount of sense. These Dada

artists promised to create non-art, since there is no meaning to anything in the world. The pioneer of surrealism was a French poet named Andr Breton, who introduced surrealism to the world with his Manifesto du Surralisme in 1924. As he influenced by Sigmund Freud, an Austrian psychologist and his theories about the unconscious, Andre Breton helped popularize the movement of surrealism. Since people were greatly affected by the war, the idea of surrealism grabbed a lot of attention from audiences all over the world. Surrealism is an art movement that was influenced by the effects of post World War I, and Sigmund Freuds psychological theory about the unconscious. It consisted of art that was developed from the world beyond the reality, and in the world of dreams. As it was introduced into the world in the 1920s, it gained many admirers all around the world, as they enjoyed bizarre nature of surrealistic art works.

Jazz: Louis Armstrong

t was the year of 1895, in the city of New Orleans, where jazz was born into this world. Although there isnt a specific origin of jazz, many people believe that jazz was influenced from the African tribal music that the African American slaves brought to America. One of the famous artists of jazz music is Louis Armstrong, as he is known for singing West End Blues, that had been very famous in 1928. Although he became one of the most successful jazz singers of all time, his past wasnt exactly as smooth as most of us might think it would have been. Born into a poor family, Louis Armstrong was abandoned by his father, William Armstrong, when he was just an infant. He spent his youth growing up in a dangerous uptown neighborhood. However, this neighborhood in New Orleans was full of music, in which he was influenced with. In 1912, on an exciting night of New Years Eve, Armstrong was arrested by the police, as he was caught firing a gun as a celebration for the New Year. He was sentenced to spend his days at the Colored Waifs Home for Boys for a while. However, it was that place that gave him the opportunity to start performing with an actual band and a musical instrument. Peter Davis, his

band director of the Waifs Home Band, gave him his musical instrument, which Louis Armstrong used to prove that he had the ability to become the head of the band. Louis Armstrong did not have a fancy beginning, where he grew up in a rich family and was provided with expensive instruments. He grew up with a rough

beginning, but later on, he became incredibly successful by being an opportunist. And now, his music is admired by many Americans, and the introduction of his early days is definitely needed to be spread.
