Download & Go! FAQ

How do I access my Download & Go! learning files? Your learning manager will give you instructions. No. However, you do need a few basic Excel skills, including how to open and close Excel files, move from sheet to sheet and move the cursor to a particular cell. Do I need to know modeling in Excel before I use this product?

Where do I use the Download & Go! learning files? You use them in Excelnot from your browser. First, save all 12 Excel learning files to your computer or storage media (diskette, CD, etc.). The files are labeled according to lesson number and topic. Then open the files in Excel.

Do I need to do all the lessons in order? Yes. You should work through all the lessons in order, from 1 through 12, because each lesson builds on skills from earlier lessons. If you already know the material in a lesson, you will move through it quickly.

I get a Security Warning when I open a file. Click the Enable Macros button. To avoid receiving the Security Warning when you open each lesson file, check the box Always trust macros from this source. How do I use the files? The filenames are keyed to each lesson number. Simply open each file in Excel, and start with the first tab on the lower left of your screen, labeled Course Cover. From there, follow the instructions for the lesson, working through the tabs from left to right. After you finish a lesson, close that file and open the next lesson file. When you finish working through all the files, you will be ready to start financial modeling.

I get a message telling me the file will expire within 90 days of opening the file. What if I need it again later? You can repeat any lesson by reopening the file until the expiry date. Contact your learning manager to request new Download & Go! files after the expiry date.

Can I repeat a lesson? My files have not expired, but they still dont work. Try these actions: Be sure you are opening the files in Excel 97 or higher, not in your browser window. Check that you enabled Excel to accept macros on the file. What will I learn? Download & Go! Excel Prep for Financial Modeling targets the Excel skills that are critical to master before you build financial models. See the Lesson Contents for details on lesson topics. Download & Go! teaches you to use keyboard shortcuts instead of relying on the mouse. As a result, you will work faster and build Excel models that are free of errors. How long will it take to complete the lessons? It will take approximately 8 to 12 hours to work through all 12 lessons, depending on your experience using Excel. Yes. You can reuse any lesson file until the expiration date.

Is there a reference for future use? Yes. Each lesson includes a Reference Tab. Print the sheets for those tabs and refer to them later.
