During Mr. Parkers lifetime the reference to man and mankind had a universal meaning that included both sexes. Today there is much greater emphasis on identifying the separate sexes in order to make clear their equality. Rather than alter the original writings by changing all such references to humans and humankind, interpret these references as universal terms that include both sexes on an equal basis.

THE CYCLIC LAW

Prologue
For centuries man has divided life into entirely opposite phases, actually diametrically opposed to each other. The first is the material aspect of life wherein man deals only in fact and form, his only infallible key being mathematics. To the scientist, mathematics is the ultimate in revelation; it is the basis of all his scientific data. It actually represents the quantity of being and of time, life having its being within the confines of time. Reason having become involved in being and time, being or mind has to seek within self to its true reason for existence. Man being the only conscious part of this life, it is he alone who can discover the true pattern of being and his responsibility to it. The second phase of life opposite to the material aspect is that of the abstract: the Conscious Intelligent phase of life that should motivate all human existence. Time is the path of spiritual unfoldment, whilst Conscious Intelligence is the quality and the fulfilment of time. Quality and quantity in proper perspective and balance is the completeness of God's Plan.

Sincerely, Yours in Service

Why must we accept tragedy as a natural phenomenon? Why place it in the accident class as though it were an act of God? Is there such a thing as an accident? I doubt it. On every hand we hear about the epidemic airline tragedies, which have taken a heavy toll of human life--not mentioning the military losses that are not always made public. Tragedy is not confined to air travel, it has always been with us; but air travel is superseding all other forms of travel and is naturally in the limelight. Man learns through research and experience but should endeavour to minimize human sacrifice in the learning. To facilitate discovery, the airlines have an official investigating committee whose duty it is to assemble the pieces of a plane after a crash to determine whether the error was mechanical or the pilot's, although what is usually left over after a plane tragedy would not be enough to arrive at a logical, basic conclusion; however it seems sufficient to satisfy an apathetic public, who provide the human sacrifice for the disaster. The wrecking of a plane is not actually a disaster because the plane is insured: it is the loss of lives that constitutes a tragedy. Often after each tragedy we read in the newspaper that the commission, after considerable research, has come to the conclusion that a certain airline disaster was the result of pilot error. Just what is meant by pilot error? Could this include a fit or mental confusion? Finding a mechanical or structural error merely represents mechanical research for better planes--a step in advancement. What does the pilot error represent--the necessary sacrifice for better planes, or just an alibi to the loved ones of the deceased, put forth to bolster public morale? Unfortunately, the finding of pilot error does not produce better and safer pilots; all the safety gadgets in the world cannot compensate pilot responsibility and error, and we will never have completely foolproof planes.

Why Not Better and Safer Pilots?

It seems that scientists have not made much progress in the understanding of human mind. They have merely catalogued human weaknesses and inhibitions, but the cause is still a mystery and will remain so while the answers are left to psychiatry. A weakness must be discovered beforehand. What can happen to a pilot's mind whilst in the air is not entirely unknown to those of the flying profession, only it is not known why or when certain dangerous phenomena may occur to cause a blackout or a panic and mental confusion; a pilot may not have exhibited any previous weakness, but, of course, there is always the first time.

I suppose that all airlines demand regular physical check-ups of their pilots which, however, tell nothing logical or basic about the mental pattern or possibilities for the future. I once knew a pilot of the Second World War who one day hired a private plane and, whilst flying, suddenly lost all cognizance of plane mechanics. He looked at the controls as with blind eyes, not knowing anything about a plane. He had the urge to jump, yet was afraid to do so. His mind was in confusion and panic, but luckily he had plenty of altitude and he fought down his panic so that he could experiment with the control and balance of the plane. His next fear was how to bring the plane in to a landing without crashing. He could not stay up too long as daylight was fading, and so he decided to take a chance; while he was losing altitude, his mind suddenly regained normalcy and he brought the plane in safely. As an example, there have been many incidents where a pilot who, having lost one motor of his plane and being hampered by icing-up conditions, has asked permission to return to his original field; but in turning he did not take into consideration the strong wind that was blowing. Even though used to the mountainous terrain and the distance between points, he thinks he has cleared the mountains and asks permission to reduce altitude, but crashes, killing all aboard. Could a miscalculation like this be termed pilot error? In which case, science had better learn to eliminate the error, or remove the pilot from human responsibility.

Human Nature Can Be Changed

Allow me to state here and now that there is a way of determining the stability of a person's mind, of knowing when a mind is going to be subject to a severe mental and emotional test, and how to avoid it. It is generally thought that human nature cannot be changed, but this statement is erroneous and misleading and stops further research. It is because human mind is a mystery that science knows not where to start, but dislikes to admit it; instead, science is lost in removing the lobes of the brain and boring holes in the skull to stimulate the brain cells, erroneously thinking that the brain is the mind. Mind and time are the two greatest forces known in this finite plane of ours. Consciousness gives us intelligence and mortal being, which manifests through that universal and eternal power called time. As a business executive you may ask: "What in thunder could possibly interest me in such a subject as time? My answer is: "If yours is an intelligent and progressive mind, you will naturally be interested in knowledge that could well put your business on an entirely new status, one where all gamble and force of circumstance are removed. Mind is

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 4

a quality of being manifesting in thought and verbal expression." You well may ask: "What has this to do with the airlines industry?" You could be astonished to learn how much you do not know about life and time, and how man is influenced by time. You would be equally surprised to know that your life is measured by time, and that time actually represents a chart or map of your life upon which you can depend with the utmost certainty. Time is something we are born into and cannot get out of until death; it is eternal and immutable; it cannot be borrowed, paid back, nor retrieved. It is associated with every living thought; perhaps it could be expressed as that great eternal void that is to be filled with human thought and eventually Consciousness in the spiritual expression of mind. Now, man is lost in mere living and self-satisfaction, with little desire to lift his mind above the mundane things of the desires. Thus, little is known about the divine laws that govern human existence: the quality and Reason of being.

Man, Lost in Living--No Spiritual Objective

Following the average pattern of life, there are two opposite paths: that of business, materiality, and science, and that which is known as the spiritual or religious path on which man is supposed to meditate upon things divine. The unfortunate points concerning these two opposite paths are the over practical, scientific, and factual aspect of the first-mentioned path that has led us to the verge of atomic destruction, and the lack of practicality and fact of the religious path that offers no alternative. One's religious studies should encompass reason of being, man's relationship and duty to the source of his being and to his fellow man, and the fulfilment of his destiny in creating harmony and balance in his own life and that of others. All this would necessitate making his material existence only incidental to a spiritual existence; but, knowing nothing about a spiritual duty or objective, man has just become lost in living itself. Herein lies the reason why man's duty and control over self is negligible, because man knows practically nothing about self and absolutely nothing about his own mind. Man has lost his individuality; he is a creature of mass-mindedness. Even his thoughts are not his own, for medical science tells us that the condition called *schizophrenia has become a major problem. This means that man cannot guarantee that his own mind will always be in the driver's seat, for he may contact a mental interference at any moment and exhibit some form of mental phenomenon such as fits, blackouts, insanity, childishness, mental confusion, temper, criminality, suicide, self-pity, or jealousy, etc. Any of these conditions could be the cause of a major

air tragedy. How many times has a passenger gone berserk and had to be forcibly subdued? How many have held a gun to the back of an airline pilot and demanded some form of concession? This is the reason that more time and finances should be used for the study of human mind: to assure a greater measure of safety to the travelling public and not dismiss a major tragedy with the simple remark, "just pilot error." Either cause-- mechanical or mental--has the same significance in that no effort is being made to teach man mental control over his emotions and thinking, and complete individuality through positive thinking.

Lack of Individuality
It is public knowledge that millions of Americans are living on tranquilizers. How many pilots use them to control their nervous systems or to enforce relaxation? Anyone who takes tranquilizers is a *schizophrenic in the first place; otherwise his mind would govern his emotions and actions at all times and he would relax naturally. There is a religious axiom that reads, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." If you live on tranquilizers, you will lose your individuality and die through a mental interference. Man carries on through life with no specific mental or spiritual goal, merely existing, a slave to social customhis mind moulded by television, radio, periodicals, entertainment, and social ethics which, of course, are not really ethical but only functional to a degraded standard of existence with his guiding star a disc jockey.

Ignorance and Confusion

Time is the period of existence in which man lives from the cradle to the grave, and man has learned to dissect it down into seconds, minutes, hours, weeks, months, years, and ages; thus is man able to hear his earthly existence ticked away by his watch, and every tick is a thing of the past that can never be retrieved or redeemed. Thus man lives in mental confusion with no constructive objective, living but only to have riches and an independent standard of living to satisfy his desires. This is not what nature intended, but it is the human pattern of existence. This is what is termed civilization, which is of mind governed by liquor, tobacco, finance, clothes, credit, and racketeer barons; they build the maze of confusion for profit in which man becomes hopelessly lost. What has this to do with time and tragedy? you may ask. To explain anything, one must get down to cause and pattern, both of which I am explaining. If man lives in ignorance he will die in confusion.

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 6

It is obvious that man's pattern of living is degenerate and contains no spiritual objective relative to living and progress; consequently, each generation becomes more degenerate, leaving the "...iniquity of the fathers upon the children..." (Exodus 34:7) Only the evolution of each generation, each a step higher than the last, guarantees freedom from the evils of the previous generation. Thus we see that wisdom is our only positive protection against complete annihilation through human ignorance. Man becomes either the only creative and regenerative power in existence, or the complete destroyer--symbolized by the four horsemen of the apocalypse--"the destroyer of his own soul."

Man Colours the Age

Time is the unfoldment of the reason of being through its being, the involutionary and evolutionary forces of nature endeavouring to create and mould a constructive pattern of living through the creative mind of man. Time is the mathematical and dimensional law of life; it discerns movement and motion in mathematical gradations of time and symbolizes distance, which we term the ages, the quality and nature of which are the sum result of human thinking. Whether an age is primitive, confused, one of murder and repression, chivalry, culture, or of musical and dramatic expression, is the result of human mind. Thus man colours the age, and not the age, man.

Life Is Dual
All life is dual in its creation, and the pattern is laid out in religious theory as God being the nucleus of being, termed spirit or abstract, i.e., beyond and above human sense and concept--the Father Principle. On the other hand, we have the negative manifestation of this God Principle as the Mother, or world of dimension, the power of fertility, or the earth. The abstract power of Universal Consciousness represents the reason and cause of life, or the quality of being, which is endeavouring to manifest its wisdom through the mind of man to fill the ages with harmony and balance, to create perfection, love, and service upon earth among all men; this is often termed universal brotherhood. It represents peace, health, constructive progress, and the equality of all men. Thus we see that time is the essence and quality of life. The quantity side of life manifests through the finite or dimensional plane of existence. Thus quality is expressing through quantity. These are the positive and negative phases of existence and the duality of being.

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 7

God's Plan
If there is complete co-ordination with this divine quality (wisdom) and the human mind, then will we have unity of man, or mind, with the Godhead or quality of being. This is what is termed God's Plan, or the complete balance between the positive and negative forces of nature. God's Plan, so-called, is not where we are going after death, but our duty and labours here as stewards of the earth. Some religious theories have become lost in mysticism, i.e., striving to reach out beyond human concept, logic, and reason; whilst others are living only the Mother or negative principle, lost in matter and mortal concept. Neither has discovered the steps that man must take to find the proper balance between quality and quantity, known as the middle path. If man is ordained to reach spirituality of mind through an earthly existence, there must be basic laws creating a foundation from which to build a spiritual civilization. Each phase of life, abstract (mind) and finite (materiality) must have its individual laws and expressions of being.

Rhythms of Nature
Let us view time as the vehicle of expression, expressing the mathematical gradations of spiritual unfoldment. This we see working through the law of growth in plant life, through what is termed the Cyclic Law. Cycles have been termed by science as rhythms of nature expressing through mathematical balance pulsating in perfect regularity and bringing specific conditions or qualities of life, such as seasons of growth and of weather and the rhythmic movements of planets and comets such as the reappearance of Halley's Comet, which occurs every 76 years. Then there is the phenomenon of dry and wet seasons, sun-spots, and booms and depressions or fat and lean years. Nature maintains the balance of animal existence through periodic destruction of prolific species, e.g., the rabbit, which is conspicuous by its absence from the woods every seven years; also the lemmings that make their periodic mass migration to the sea as a suicide mission. These, and numerous other examples of the cyclic rhythms, bear out how quality or Universal Reason manifests through dimension or form and quantity--called nature and life. This is the proof of the divine intelligence behind all phases of existence.

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 8

The Measuring Stick of Time

All nature expresses through laws based upon absolute logic and reason, which in itself represents absolute truth. Thus we see the link between time and the intelligence that manifests through it. Up to this point I have been speaking of the natural laws of rhythms as affecting form, nature, and species. The greater concept I am endeavouring to paint is that of Divine Consciousness through human mind. If time expresses the gradations of the growth of life and each gradation shows a specific quality as in the seasons of nature (i.e., spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and the movement of the planets in conjunction with time) is it not plain that mathematics through time is the measuring stick of life, both universally and personally? Thus, if man has a specific duty to perform in life--which we believe is to be the eyes, ears, mouth, and concept of these divine forces of Consciousness or Universal Intelligence known in religious parlance as the temple or instrument of the Supreme Power--is it not to be expected that such duties would have to come under the jurisdiction of time? And if time represents the law of growth and production, then man would not have to adjust his duties and efforts to time. Thus man would reap what he has sown, according to time. Man has made the mistake of accepting time only as a form of measurement of the clock or calendar and not as a quality of preordained conditions to which man should direct his mental effort. For instance, it is a preordained law that certain seeds must be sown on the proper calendar date relative to the season and weather conditions because the nature of the seeds is relative only to the quality and quantity of time. The same law applies to everything, including man. Man is told that nothing supersedes mind, that mind is not subservient to any law. This is erroneous. Man, or mind, is born into time, which is this life, and he must work in unity with the law of existence, which is time.

Man Must Harmonize His Efforts with Time

Time does not force man to do any specific thing, except to advance in age; neither can mind interfere with or stop time, but man can and must harmonize his efforts with it and do the things relative to it. For instance, we realize that winter is a quality of time bringing changing and cold temperatures; so mind clothes its body with warm clothes for benefit and comfort. This is only relative to personal comfort, but man must also record mental growth relative to the nature

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 9

of the age in which he lives. If each age is supposed to record human growth and achievement, is it not logical that man should create that achievement--a specific age, the things relative to that age? Is this not God's Plan? For instance, we live in the mathematical age, which, according to some people, is called the Christian Age, when man as a whole should endeavour to lift his mind above the mundane things of the senses and look for absolute logic and reason. If man did, he could well personify truth, justice, and wisdom; and thus fulfil his spiritual duty or destiny. Man has failed to do this, and instead of this age exemplifying Godlike qualities through man, it has hit its lowest negative level of evil, confusion, and murder. This represents degeneration, not the results of a conscious, religious attitude of mental and spiritual progress. When human mind knows how to dissect itself and understands its relationship to time, it will understand how to read the secrets of life and time and know what seeds of material and spiritual progress to sow, and how to sow them according to time. When man attempts to do things out of season, his efforts are not crowned with success; and thus man destroys the true nature of the season, and earthly confusion causes man to think that nature has turned its hand against him. This is actually opposite to the true picture. Man goes through the ages divested of the power to control the forces of nature or to create success and happiness in place of confusion, and so he becomes a prisoner of his own creation. Man, not having learned to unite his mind and efforts with the natural law of time, has created indifference and mental confusion and thus destroyed the unity of mind with purpose. Such indifference destroys sanity and makes one prey to disembodied minds or entities and one becomes *schizophrenic, or not entirely in control of one's mind and actions.

"A Time to Every Purpose"

Today man ignores time, representing it only as a hollow void in which to accomplish the things he desires. He lays out his business agenda for the year and tries to complete it, disregarding the scriptural admonition: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven..." (Ecclesiastes 3:1) meaning that there is Universal Intelligence connected to time and seasons. Consequently, he fails to complete his undertakings successfully. Man cannot do the things he desires to accomplish just any time that he desires to do them; this is why there are so many failures in all walks of life. Man must plan his affairs according to timehoping things will turn out fine is not enough. So little is known about the

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 10

human mind; that is why there are so many conflicting theories and so little discussion on the subject. Getting down to a practical basis, every living individual is born into his personal cycle; as a matter of fact, so are animals but they do not know it, being connected with their cycle only through instinct-which is their protection. They instinctively know when to do the right thing. Man, having no instinct and a mind that knows nothing of the laws of nature, has become lost in misleading things of the senses and the desire mind, and is therefore not protected. Some people follow hunches; these are the extremely sensitive people who live very intensely in their emotions and sense of feeling. Thus they sense much that they do not understand. This is not an asset because uncontrolled emotion leads to mental and emotional confusion. Man is supposed to know through logic and deduction. In this way, he is able to discover facts and create workable theories that reveal the many patterns of life. A thorough study of mathematics as applied to human mind, through the Cyclic Law, will convince any intelligent person that there are natural forces working through life, of which man knows very little. If all human minds were working in conjunction with the Cyclic Law of nature, there would not be the confusion in the natural forces that comprise the weather elements, and there would not be the many disasters caused through confusion of the elements, such as by unseasonable weather--floods, hurricanes, etc.--through excess rain out of season. It must be considered that human mind, being a conscious power whose duty it is to become a creative power within the limits of time so as to give meaning to the ages, must be a terrific influence; but without wisdom, it is bound to have a destructive and confusing influence upon the laws of nature as in weather and season. The Godhead, who represents complete balance and harmony in all things, the ultimate in perfection and wisdom in the complete pattern of life, could not possibly have intended confusion within the seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Only the destructiveness of human mind and its refusal to follow the natural path of constructive progress causes confusion and destruction in nature. This is how man creates his own punishment and so bears out the admonition: As ye sow (mentally), so shall ye reap.

Science Wants To Know How

Science is prone to separate human mind from the reality of being, so as to give undue credit to the mechanics of life rather than to universal and human intelligence. This is why shattered planes are

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 11

reassembled in an endeavour to discover mechanical or structural weakness. If human mind were properly understood, there would not be the human error in construction in the first place, nor would there be pilot error which, in any case, is mere carelessness or miscalculation. This power working through the Cyclic Law in conjunction with human mind is the key to life that Einstein was seeking just before his death. There is an unconfirmed quotation attributed to Einstein wherein he said: "Somewhere, somehow, there must be a conjunction between mathematics (the universal rule) and human mind." The universal rule represents all form and dimension because both are measurable and thus existent, whilst the mind is that conscious power that manifests within the dimensional law of life. Thus is God (mind) clothed in flesh (dimension and mathematics). Being, or dimension, has its own reason contained within itself as a natural pattern designated by the universal mind. It is the duty of mortal mind to discover itself and the universal plan of being, and learn to make it a guide and reality in mortal existence. Thus would reason govern in conjunction with being itself. This would represent balance between the positive (reason) and negative (dimension) forces of life. Many people are willing just to believe that God rules the earth, but science wants to know how? Science is based upon the mathematical mechanics of life, the knowledge of dimension and all its ramifications. Life is based upon divine and natural laws, and man must discover them and apply himself to them. This is the divine plan.

Pilot Error under Duress

Let us assume that there is a power within human mind that far surpasses all finite powers; this must be so or man would not have such creative ability to produce a machine that will permit him to fly in comfort in the air by overcoming gravitation through propulsion, speed, and mechanics. The pilot who flies the plane is not the same person who created it, yet he has the responsibility of its flight and of the passengers within the plane. The integrity of the pilot's mind and the mechanical perfection of the plane together guarantee the safety of the passengers' flight. It stands to reason that human mind supersedes all other powers, such as natural law that governs weather and natural conditions. Thus man or mind should know itself and the power it represents. If there is a discord in the forces of nature at a particular time and the pilot is in a test or adverse period of his own cycle (which is in

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 12

itself discordant because the combined discords will continue to exist as he knows nothing of his relationship to the Cyclic Law), under such discordant conditions a pilots oversight may occur causing his mind not to operate efficiently in making decisions--and tragedy results. This may be aptly demonstrated in many disastrous crashes that take the lives of many people. In many cases, there may be mechanical error as well as pilot error and the pilots oversight is fatal. One situation, as an example, happened in this way: the external elevator lock was left in because of pilot oversight. On take-off the pilot found that control of the aircraft was restricted and, as stated, knew the fault to be his; so, upon electing to return to the shorter runways at point of take-off, he informed the tower operator it was not an emergency and he would not need the fire truck (a fatal mistake in itself), possibly to avoid filing a report with the Department of Transport on the reason for declaring an emergency. The crash was caused by the scissoring of the control lock between the elevator and the wing. The type of aircraft involved in this incident is not capable of dumping fuel, but by flying to the military base the pilot would have burnt off considerable fuel, had an 8,000 foot runway to land on, and would also have had crash equipment available capable of handling jet and bomber crashes. This is what I mean by pilot error under duress or discordant cyclic influences. In the first place, neither a pilot nor his airline know when he is in an adverse or test period on a particular day and that he would find himself in difficulties. Had that possibility been known, he could have done one of two things: either asked to be grounded, or, knowing the time of the expected miscalculations and confusion, he could have avoided the disaster by a more complete check before leaving the ground. Either would have saved his own life and those of his passengers, and saved the plane. But he does not know that the cyclic measuring stick could inform him of mental conditions in the same way he, as a pilot, is informed of expected weather conditions for a flight. The fact that he created a tragedy shows that it was in the offing through a test he could not pass; for it was evident that he lost his head, allowing his emotions to govern his reasoning. A pilot under better cyclic conditions thinks out a plan for a safe landing with a minimum of risk. This theory may sound radical to the average mind, but it has been demonstrated in the lives of thousands of people in all walks of life, as well as in the aviation industry.

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 13

Pilot Error--an Alibi

I have a very close friend, a pilot, who, knowing he was in an adverse period in which anything could happen, was prepared for an emergency and against panic. He was flying a two-engine plane with a complement of passengers when one engine threatened to seize because of trouble in the lubricating system. He immediately cut the engine before it seized completely and continued on one engine. And, strange to say, while losing altitude preparatory to making a landing, the good engine "conked out." However, because he had used his head, he was able to start the engine that had been shut down for lack of oil and it brought him in safely. He told me he was in an adverse period at the time, had anticipated some such trouble, and had resolved to keep his head at any cost, which he did, and not just literally speaking, as well as those of his passengers. The average human mind is so unpredictable and in most cases so affected by the emotions, especially by fear in an emergency, that one can never be sure how he will react under different conditions. Just suppose that the airline had put forth an honest effort to safeguard their pilots by a conscientious search into the mental aspect, and had found this cyclic principle: how many good pilots and hundreds of passengers would be here upon this earth to testify to the good judgment of the flying profession and its endeavour to classify pilot error properly?

Mental Aberrations
Pilot error is not the legitimate answer to a plane disaster; it is only an alibi. If man is the controlling factor of a plane or anything, then he should merit first consideration. Surely we have sufficient reasons to arouse the desire for mental discovery: child prodigies, mathematical wizards at early ages, children suddenly speaking foreign languages fluently without education, people changing their sex, mental obsessions causing sudden insanity and murder, and people of dual personality who live each personality separately and unknown to the other mind. Take, for example, the case of the policeman in England years ago whose beat was suffering systematic robberies that defied detection. The policeman felt mortified and was determined to discover the thief, so he set traps. How horrified he was to find it was he himself, through a dual personality, who was planning and executing the robberies. He arrested and charged himself for the crimes and accepted the punishment.

The Cyclic Law

Page 14

Mental Disturbances
There are situations that demand a logical solution, situations that have no relation to the mechanics of nature but rather to human mind and all its ramifications. Too much money is spent in attempting to fly to the moon and too little, in endeavouring to find out how the moon affects the human mind. Science does classify an insane person as a luna-tic, which brings to mind the fact that many people have mild mental disturbances at different times of their cycle whilst at others they are normal. There are thousands of businessmen and executives who have their personal astrologer, even after intensive surveys have been made proving that astrology is not a one-hundred per cent practical and dependable theory. It does prove that these men are seeking something that business knowledge does not contain, and that the mental angle contains something very vital to man's effort in every sphere of endeavour. Through the years there have been many experiments to find the key to the Cyclic Law; so far they have not found the answers although they have presented much data to prove the existence of the law and its influence upon business booms, depressions, and natural phenomena. *Science accurately prophesies disturbances in the atmosphere and in all weather conditions--why not the disturbances in human mind? There never was a logical explanation given as to why two planes on June 30, 1956 crashed while flying over the Grand Canyon in clear weather conditions, with visibility one-hundred per cent. Was that pilot error in both cases? If the pilot ahead could not see, how about the one following? There are too many mysterious airline disasters to dismiss them with the pilot error excuse. Every man knows he has off days when nothing seems to go right regardless of how systematic and careful he is; whilst on other days everything seems to fall into place. All that is needed is the knowledge of how to pinpoint those days accurately, and to realize that they are the cyclic conditions manifesting through human mind and affairs. As previously mentioned, rabbits die by the thousands every seven years and lemmings go into a mass migration and suicide periodically because they have no reason or protective mind, but follow instinct. Man uses mind as a means of self-extermination because his mind cannot use reason about the influence and cause of adverse conditions as related

to self and nature. Man in his ego thinks he is above and beyond natural law--until he is riding a few million dollars down to a major disaster! Of course, the plane is insured liberally and so is the pilot, no doubt, but the commission cannot put his pieces together to discover the mechanical and mental difficulty. It is so difficult for a layman to imagine air crashes where there is so much wide open space, for instance the Grand Canyon disaster. The crash over the Grand Canyon was reconstructed from known factors on flight plans filed and facts proved from the wreckage. Both aircraft were off controlled airways. Number one aircraft was climbing from a position ahead of and below number two aircraft. The latter was cruising in level flight and was consequently moving faster and overtaking the former. Both pilots were unaware of the presence of another aircraft in the area as there had been no warning issued by Air Traffic Control, who were not legally responsible for aircraft flying in areas off controlled airways, though a moral responsibility is indicated. Pilots in the first aircraft naturally could not see the second aircraft above and behind them, and the pilots in the second one were unable to see an aircraft coming up from ahead and below them, with the result that one aircraft had the tail section broken off and the second aircraft lost a wing. Fault was laid to extremely poor visibility incorporated in many modern aircraft designs. Still, though the reasons for the crash are known, the odds are astronomical against such a series of incidents building in a chain of events whereby two aircraft on converging courses meet under just those circumstances. What was the final factor, chance or cycles, that drew pilots and passengers towards the point of collision? How could this cyclic theory be used in conjunction with the flying profession to minimize accidents and loss of life? I have been told that it would be impossible to ground a pilot on certain days to ensure safety; in which case, the pilot is literally sent out on a mission of death and disastrously grounds his passengers and himself for eternity! One of these times, after every other precaution has failed, this theory will be a universally accepted and established system, especially in all fields of transportation.

A Natural Blueprint
The Cyclic Law is a natural blueprint of time in relation to all nature and to human mind. We know that booms and depressions show through the rhythms of nature as do seasons; the difference is that seasons are a natural phenomenon designed to take care of growth and fruition in all phases of life; this is seen most clearly in plant life.

Booms and depressions appear rhythmically because all human activities, being subject to time, must show an established rhythmic pattern relative to time itself. Does this mean that naturally and rhythmically we must be subject to depressions and lean years? It is to be presumed that all life is based upon the positive and negative principle, which represents the duality of life, the principle of opposites: hot and cold, winter and summer, north and south, bitter and sweet, light and dark, day and night, male and female, abstract (reason) and finite (the physical and material plane of existence), black and white, etc.; all phases of life have their counterpart within the natural law. Booms and depressions in man's activities over the ages have been almost as exact as the swing of a pendulum. To show how opposite man's mind and thinking is to the natural law, he has seemingly known of these rhythms through repetition and has endeavoured to use his knowledge destructively, basing business ethics upon principles designed purposely for profit, regardless of mental and spiritual progress.

Reversing the Natural Trend

For instance, when nature decrees a fat year--when crops are prolific and humanity as a whole should benefit through the bounteousness of nature--the opposite occurs as far as man's affairs are concerned. Because bounteous crops mean low prices in the business world, profits and business progress are restricted. Thus man's living and buying power are affected, and conditions are classified as bad. When crops are scarce and prices are higher, business is more active because of the larger profit. Thus, when there is a scarcity because of a lean year, man finds it more difficult to buy food; or, should I say, he pays higher prices for what he buys. In this way man is stopped from benefiting through the bounteousness of nature--which naturally interferes with his accumulation, through lower prices. This condition has often caused purposeful destruction of crops and the misuse of subsidies to help present the business failures in bounteous fat years. If man could find the happy medium of sowing and storing through the fat years to alleviate the shortage of the lean years, then prices could be kept stable at all times; of course, this might eliminate booms, which allow cunning and avaricious minds to gain control of goods and commodities that are scarce and to make huge profits for themselves. Booms and depressions represent nature finding a balance, because as far as a pendulum swings one way it must equalize itself by swinging just as far back in the opposite direction.

The Cyclic Law

Kabalarian Philosophy Ltd.

Page 17

We have summertime and wintertime in nature, the two opposites. Booms and depressions in the business world are engineered movements reversing the natural trend to take advantage of the gullibility of human nature; they are supposedly subject to the law of supply and demand, with the supply never in doubt as far as prices are concerned even though the quantity may be purposely curtailed. Thus are major movements in market conditions relative to the natural law, only reversed for business reasons. What should be good conditions by nature are bad in business and vice versa. This is what is termed taking advantage of the natural law profitably.

The Time Clock of Nature

Yes, nature does endeavour to maintain a balance as shown through the action of the pendulum, but man must always maintain the middle path between the higher and lower. To do this he must learn the natural movements of nature known as the Cyclic Law, the timeclock of nature. What I mean is that it should be general knowledge through which all could benefit. Unfortunately, the Cyclic Law is known only to a favoured few who comprise the basis of our business structure or economic system, and the manipulation of markets of the world testify to their knowledge, for the mass public invariably buys into the market near the top instead of selling, and sells near the bottom when it should be buying, and thus adds to the swing of the markets to bring about more profitable conditions for those who are cognizant of natural trends or rhythms. When financial credit is restricted, it always has an adverse influence upon business progress and accumulation; nevertheless, there must always be a depression to find the bottom of the market where a few might benefit from the folly of the masses, who through over-buying at the wrong time create the right conditions to break the market profitably and bring the right buying point for those not caught on the wrong side of the market trend. Thus does man misuse the Cyclic Law for personal gain at the sacrifice of the many. Man, in his ignorance, always goes against the cycles because he uses his emotions through greed and personal feelings instead of using his mind and spiritual principle.

Adjustment of Opposites
This brings us back to the point that the Cyclic Law is man's guide as far as nature is concerned; what man does with that knowledge or what happens to man without the knowledge is quite evident in the

confusion and chaos of our present conditions. A natural depression, or lean year, represents the winter period of a long protracted period, in the same way that we have spring, summer, autumn, and winter, in the yearly periods; so we also have the same seasons over greater periods of the lesser and greater ages. All of nature is governed by the same law, only in various degrees relative to time. Bringing the Cyclic Law down to a practical basis and according to human and natural events, we find that the lean years--which represent the depression or wintertime periods of nature--create the most destructive conditions, such as: floods, storms, earthquakes, and loss of life through unnatural and unseasonable conditions. This reaches out into all forms of life affecting crops and wild life and, in the ensuing confusion, man's mind is also affected and man lives in negative thinking; of course, he always does, but more so when nature is in a depressed condition. This is when nature is over-bounteous on the wrong side. When man observes the cyclic rhythms of nature working both constructively and adversely, he should realize that nature is merely telling the story of the duality of nature or the adjustment of the two opposites, and that human mind is supposed to set the balance or middle path to demonstrate man's stewardship and control over the natural law. It could be said--although instantly disputed by the layman--that man, being the only known creative channel upon this earth, should have and express that power of balance that would insure complete seasonal rhythms as intended by nature, and thus eliminate floods and destructive storms which represent excesses of nature with their attendant destruction to property and lives.

Mind and Time

I am attempting to establish the connection of human mind with the rhythms of nature, showing that human mind being born into the finite plane of existence is subject to, or guided by, the cyclic rhythms, which when understood point to human mental progress. When man sees the divine plan working in nature he will be able to conform his plans to the divine plan, and thus become One, or the complete positive and negative: the reason and being combined in balance. As nature expresses both negative and positive conditions in the depressions and plentiful seasons of nature, so does the human mind have its negative and positive conditions: times when man is up and down in his thinking, when he tends more to depressed and emotional

thoughts and his analysis and good judgment are affected, and his convictions are completely negative. You should know the cyclic conditions affecting your thinking and judgment and you will know why you made poor decisions in the past and could never understand the cause of your mistakes and bad judgment. Only now, as you look back to any bitter experience of the past, do you realize what vast changes can take place in your thinking-depending upon the time and conditions surrounding you at the time. There are times when everything seems to come your way with the least effort, and at other times, despite all you do, nothing seems to work in your favour. These are the cyclic conditions through which you are passing. Few people couple the events in their lives with cyclic conditions, or the nature of the hour, day, month, and year. With knowledge, one's mind is never affected adversely because of the depressed conditions of the day or month; yet thousands of people obey the urge to commit suicide, to fight, show anger or fear, or to express strange mental and emotional phenomena on certain days. Is not a lunatic's mind adversely affected at the full of the moon?--thus showing how strong are the forces of nature relative to one's thinking. Even dull days affect millions of people's thinking and health, whilst on the sunny or positive days everyone feels stimulated and inspired in their thoughts. The point is to find the direct relationship of one's mind to the hours, days, months, and years, to know whether one's thoughts are positive or otherwise; the nature of one's decision may well affect one's entire life materially, emotionally, and through the health. Every thinker knows that his thinking and judgment may be affected by outside conditions. The vital thing is that in the past no one seems to have had any positive standard of measurement.

Quality of a Day
Every day you observe the calendar to establish the date and the day of the month, and you listen for weather forecasts to determine the day weatherwise, and then you study your business and personal agenda. What could be more systematic, logical, and complete? But there is one very vital point that is overlooked, and that is: "What is the quality or nature of the day business wise? Will your efforts succeed? Will there be tests, adverse conditions, and bitter experiences? Is it the time to further your efforts along particular lines? Is it a promotional day, a technical, detailed day, a day for social contacts, a day to buy

and sell profitably?" This has nothing to do with astrology, which bases earthly conditions upon the position and movement of heavenly bodies. The Cyclic Law is based upon the divine law of mathematics; all secrets scientific and otherwise are revealed through mathematics as are the nature and conditions of the hours, days, months, and years of the calendar year--as well as the great ages. Let us take for instance the great ages of empires, which, like all lesser cycles, are based upon the principle of nine and multiplied in the greater ages.

Life of an Empire
It was in 1215 A.D. that King John of England signed the Magna Carta at Runnymede. This established the British Empire under the existing laws and tenets, the same as now incorporated in the United States' legislative structure. The life cycle of empires is seven hundred and twenty-nine years; thus *1944 saw the passing of the British Empire as dominating the financial and economic structure of the world. It still has a strong influence politically because of past experiences, but through inferior trade balance it has surrendered world leadership. Thus, the period from 1215 to 1944 represents the life cycle of the British Empire. Would it not seem uncanny that mathematics in the form of the Cyclic Law should play such a vital role in determining the birth and death of an empire? It always has and always will; but so little is known of the vital influence of mathematical cycles--even in relation to our physical and finite existence.

No Life Without Mathematics

Nothing is existent without mathematical measurement, which is dimension itself and the measurement of dimension. Mathematical measurement is fact and rule, and expresses as dimension, form, and time, to measure its infinite gradations of existence. The principle of thirds to make up the complete trinity of nine is symbolized in the heavens through the nine planets. Thus conditions upon Earth are subject to the divine law of mathematics, only symbolized by the planets and positions but not affected by the astral

body itself. Each planet has its mathematical position, which is significant in itself. Where would astronomy and astrology be without mathematics? By the same token, there could be no life without mathematics. Every day of one's life has a quantity or position in the calendar; but the most vital point overlooked by man is the quality or divine essence of the day, its characteristics, opportunities, experiences, and its complete picture that expresses constructively only when man's mind is tuned to harmonize with that day; lacking the timing or balance, the negative conditions predominate. Everyone should know his cyclic conditions; this knowledge is extremely vital to a businessman whose activities are linked with so many. You should know what you are capable of accomplishing and the nature of your planning so as to get the most out of your efforts. One must not blame the cycle days for bringing destructive conditions; no day is cyclically destructive or adverse; only man makes it so because he does not know the nature of the day and, therefore, does not plan his affairs and activities relative to the cycle day. On a technical day one should not attempt promotional or creative ventures, nor make changes or travel to any extent, but should look after detailed development such as systematizing, putting things in order, bookkeeping, mechanical pursuits, or any detailed work that requires system and order.

A Right Time To Sow

When one attempts to do things contrary to the nature of the day, events do not work out as desired; wherein lie the mistakes and disappointments. The nature or quality of the day is very important to know; doing what one should do insures success in one's undertakings. The daily cycle is part of a nine-day cycle extending from seeding to fruition; the same is true in the yearly cycles. Each year has its own specific cyclic vibration or quality, and one's plane of mind and one's planning should be relative. If the cycle day shows that one should go out, make new contacts, and promote something necessitating travel and much activity, then one should not get involved in small technical details and system. Get busy on those days and you will succeed in your endeavours. Technical days are not conducive to quick thinking and action, nor is the mind versatile and sensitive; one lacks snap-judgment, and that is why one is apt to be involved in accidents of a minor or major nature. Knowing the nature or quality of each day is man's protection. It is only as one goes against nature that unfortunate conditions arise. There are no lucky days; only when one has sown constructive seeds in

The Cyclic Law

Page 22

his affairs and carried through the growth of the cycle to the fruition period does he receive fruitful and accumulative conditions so often expressed as lucky days. If one starts into business at the seeding period of the cycle with the necessary knowledge relative to that business, and expresses initiative, positive thinking, and action according to cyclic days, months, and year, success should be reached by the eighth year of the nine-year cycle. This also applies to daily cycles. Starting into business is like sowing a seed; there is a right time to sow--not just any time. Business, like all other things, should grow and succeed the same as all other things under the universal cyclic year.

A Country's Cycle
Every country has its own cycle, depending upon its confederation date, and this date denotes the business conditions and the part it is playing in international affairs. Let us take, for instance, the United States of America which was in its two-cycle year in 1961; its major problems of that year was that of associations with other countries, internal troubles affecting its peoples, and unity. It was a year of much propaganda, diplomacy, and much endeavour to keep its national dignity in the eyes of the world, as many mistakes were made because of lack of co-ordination, system, and initiative. In other words, "Much talk and little action." There were many diplomatic leaks and much mistrust between political and committee executives, and much difficulty in retaining her status quo. It was a year when "the least said, the soonest mended." The Cuban fiasco was a good example of things done without proper systematic forethought in a two-cycle year. The above are the conditions of a two-cycle year. The two-cycle is really a good year to make friends internationally, and not enemies. Unfortunately, the leaders do not know how the country's destiny is shaped cyclically and so they go on making their mistakes. This is discovered by the close of the year. Every state or province has its own individual cycles, which show through the difference in financial and business standing, through weather and crop conditions, and material progress. The same applies to cities. They too differ in crime ratio, employment, tragedies, amount of progress in building, attraction of industries, and their financial standing in relation to other states or provinces.

World Cycle
Then there is a universal cycle governing the world, with each country having its own national cycle within the universal cycle, just like a watch with wheels within wheels. It is a very wonderful picture to see and contemplate the individual cycles working within the universal cycle, each showing its own national and international standing in world affairs. It is interesting to note the belligerent attitude between the United States and Russia for such a long time, and the puny attempts to establish summit meetings--at which nothing is done. When one understands the influence of cyclic conditions upon nations, it is easy to see the reason for diplomatic and economic manoeuvres that are not understood by the layman. When diplomatic moves are made by countries, the knowledge of cycles enables one to determine their stability and their ultimate success or failure. The cycle dates of the country when leaders of countries are elected tell the story of their success or failure.

Basic Laws of Life

It stands to reason that every action and reaction in the lives of people, both great and small, must have some relationship to divine law. What greater universal law could there be than mathematics? Are not numbers the pathway to God? In Freemasonry, in Morals and Dogma, we are told, "Everything lies veiled in numbers." Mathematics is designated as the universal language because it is the same in all races, past, present, and future. It is the revelator of all secrets. Learn through the Cyclic Law to see the negative and positive conditions that will come in the future, and learn the basic rules of life so that your decisions may be made while your mind is in a positive plane of thinking; do not attempt to tackle problems when under negative conditions arising from the adverse influence of your cycle days. Knowing the Cyclic Law allows you to plan constructively, to find your natural balance in nature, and to suit your mind always to positive conditions. You will know when you are in a depressed period and you will know how, through emotional and mental control, to place yourself in the driver's seat and be able to handle any situation--as everyone should! Do not be afraid of the future; master it by linking your mind with time, which represents your past, present, and future, and learn to create your future as you wish it. This is your birthright.
