EDUCATION University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois Bachelor of Music Education, 2005 SKILLS As an educator, I have worked with students of all ages in many different situations. I have been a choir teacher, general music teacher, assistant marching band director, concert band director, and a jazz band director. My duties have included preparing and giving musical concerts, theater productions, and performing in festivals around the mid-Michigan area. In addition to my duties at school, I have been a clinician with area schools. I have utilized technology in many facets throughout my career as a teacher. This includes using itunes, youtube, weebly, googledocs, webquests, wikis and googlesites to create enriching experiences for my students. I have also used music software including finale and sibelius to input, create and arrange music for students. In addition, I have created databases using Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel for my classroom acquisitions. For the past two years, I have attended the Michigan Music Technology Conference to learn more about the possibilities of music and technology. In my spare time, I am a member of the Capital City Brass Band. Within this group, I have been vice-president and am the current past president. As president in the 2010-2011 season, I helped the group receive a local grant from the East Lansing Arts Commission. The year also included a first place win at a national brass band competition, saw a collaboration with the Mid-Michigan Youth Symphony, and had a performance as a featured ensemble at the Association of Concert Bands festival in Muskegon Michigan.
