Speaker Presentation Guidelines

marcus evans would like to welcome you and at the same time thank you for joining us at this prestigious conference. We would like to provide you, as a speaker, with some guidelines to ensure that you are able to maximise the opportunity that has been afforded you. In order to make certain that both your expectations and the delegates' expectations are met, the following procedures and guidelines have been put in place:

Presentation Outline
Presentations about the speakers organisation should be limited to not more than 2 minutes The presentation should be case study/best practice focused, discussing successful implementation within the organisation. Alternatively speakers can discuss cutting-edge processes that are currently being implemented Theoretical presentations are to be avoided as most of the delegates will already have basic knowledge on the subject matter. Theory should only be discussed where revolutionary processes and techniques are in-place, which then should also be supported by case study examples The target audience will comprise of senior level executives, hence the presentation should cater to this group Your presentation should be submitted 2-3 weeks before the conference date. This will allow us to assess the presentation and advise on possible amendments should it be required Presentations should be done on PowerPoint. Should you need further clarification on the format please feel free to check with us You should allow for a 5-10 minute Q&A session at the end of your presentation Generally each speaker is allocated 45 minutes and, since timing is very important to delegates and speakers for the smooth running of the event, we would appreciate it if you could keep within the allocated time

Speaker Presentation Guidelines
Presentation Preparation and Delivery
Think about what you want to achieve: Do you want to inform your audience, inspire them to think about your topic, or convince them of a particular point of view? Our suggestion: Demonstrate why you are here and how your case study fits in, linking your background to subject matter as this is the most critical point to grab the audiences attention and engage them right from the start. Think about your content outline: What has your session been described as and what do delegates expect you to cover? Our suggestion: Decide early on if you want your presentation and bullet points to remain as per the conference programme. Make any changes early with the conference producer to avoid a disconnect between what delegates are expecting to hear about and what you eventually end up speaking on. Think about your audience: What background knowledge do they have about your topic? Do they have any particular interests? How are you going to involve them in your presentation? Our suggestion: Encourage interaction by asking them for a show-of-hands to respond to your presentation, e.g. how many of you are involved in this process/ have this system in-place etc. Try to make use of the space on the stage instead of reading from the script at the podium. Probe simple questions as you go to get them engaged and involved. Dont get carried away Remember you have a limited time for your presentation. Dont spend too much time at the beginning discussing your company, concentrate on the key findings. Our suggestions: Well rated presentations cover the following scope of (sequence is not necessary in this order) (10%) 1. Why you are here; 2. The key learning they would benefit from/ walk away with; 3. Your company structure/ business relating to the case study; (20%) 4. The key challenges; 5. The approach to overcome; (50%) 6. The actual implementation (How-To); 7. What were the failures and how they were overcome 8. The successful outcomes/ results (20%) 9. Key lesson learnt What works well and what not, common pitfalls etc

We look forward to working with you further to create an informative, relevant and cutting edge programme and we would like to ensure that you maximise your time and effort at this conference. A content-relevant, value-added presentation is the best way to ensure a successful delivery. A depth-of-knowledge and well-honed presentation skills impress delegates, and your ability to excel in these areas will generate great interest in yourself as well as your company. Thank you.
