Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall
With the Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall firmware release 4.0 comes a new improved Web interface and layout, including animated tabs allowing the user to hover the mouse over the tab to see the page titles available without clicking on the tab. Some settings have been moved to different tabs and pages to group related features together, and the new interface provides the ability to drill down to domain level administration from which domain configuration, user account and quarantine inbox administration is managed. This document will walk you through these changes to get you quickly on your way.
Feature updates
Requeuing email: For email that is waiting in the Out queue, clicking the Retry at the bottom of the BASIC > Administration page will initiate the process to retry sending the messages immediately. The button will then be disabled until the requeue process has completed. Single Sign-On: o Single Sign-On is now a per-domain offering and not configurable at the global level. Realms are no longer used. o The Administrator or a Domain Admin can configure Single Sign-On from the USERS > Single Sign-On page when editing a domain. o Fully qualified domain names are now required when logging into a users quarantine inbox via Single Sign-On. Submit to Barracuda Central: From the BASIC > Message Log page, when you click the Spam, Not Spam, Whitelist or Un-Whitelist buttons, the resulting pop-up includes an option to forward the selected message(s) to Barracuda Central for analysis and classification by Barracuda Central engineers. Upon upgrade to firmware release 4.0, Bayesian filtering is turned OFF by default. Consequently the Spam and Not Spam buttons will NOT appear on the Message Log page until after enabling Bayesian from the BASIC > Spam Checking page. In firmware release 4.0, full Outbound Mode is not supported, though it will be in a future firmware release.
Re-grouping of Features
To make the Web interface more intuitive and easier to use, some features have been grouped together and as such appear on different pages than in previous firmware releases. These changes include: All features related to Spam Filtering policy have been grouped on the BASIC > Spam Checking page, including Fingerprint, Image, Intent and Bayesian. The BASIC > Bayesian/Intent page has been removed. All SMTP protocol settings have been grouped on the ADVANCED > Email Protocol page. All features specific to domains are now scoped under the DOMAINS tab in a sub-section of the Web interface. This section includes some of the same tabs and pages as the global scope of the Web interface. A subset of the tabs and pages i.e. BASIC, USERS, etc. available in the global scope is available for each domain from which you can configure all domain-specific features. All Outbound Relay and Smart Host settings have been grouped on the ADVANCED > Outbound page.
