This coursework should take an average student who is up-to-date with tutorial work approximately 100 hours Learning Outcomes: A: Demonstrate knowledge of key concepts such as electronic markets, electronic data interchange and Internet commerce. B: Critically evaluate the business strategy and business decision-making processes, taking into account, competitive strategy, first mover advantage models, etc. which are crucial in developing e-commerce solutions. C: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of e-Markets and e-Marketing and be able to analyses, design and provide eCommerce solutions for a given scenario, including. D: Evaluate the possible legal outcomes of alternative designs, practices and processes. E Understand e-Procurements and its related issues and models. F: Understand the concept of Quality of Service (QoS) and evaluate the security technology, management and administration issues on which sound e-commerce practice is founded.

Coursework Submission Requirements An electronic copy of your work for this coursework should be fully uploaded by midnight (local time) on the Deadline Date. The last version you upload will be the one that is marked. For this coursework you must submit a single Acrobat PDF document. In general, any text in the document must not be an image (ie must not scanned) and would normally be generated from other documents (eg MS Office 2007 using "Save As .. PDF"). There are limits on the file size.

Make sure that any files you upload are virus-free and not protected by a password otherwise they will be treated as null submissions. Comments on your work will be available from the Coursework page on the Intranet. The grade will be made available in BannerWeb. You must NOT submit a paper copy of this coursework.

Coursework Regulations 1. If no submissions were made before the deadline, coursework submitted up to two weeks late that meets the criteria for a pass will be treated as a referral. It will be subject to university regulations for referral work. 2. Coursework submitted late without an Extenuating Circumstances claim will receive a ZERO grade. If you have extenuating circumstances you may submit your coursework up to two weeks after the published deadline without penalty but this is subject to acceptance of your claim by the School Extenuating Circumstances Panel. If your claim is rejected then you will receive a zero grade for your work. 3. Coursework submitted more than two weeks late will be given feedback but a grade of nonsubmission will be awarded regardless of any extenuating circumstances. However, if your Extenuating Circumstances claim is accepted then the Extenuating Circumstances Panel will recommend to the Progression and Award Board that you be permitted to retake a different item of assessment at a future assessment point. 4. Title: Developing an eSolution for eMusic


eMusic consist of a group of young entrepreneurs who have got together to create a web company that sells Music and Film products. The range of products includes CDs, DVDs, MP3 as well as various types of players (including MP3 players, PDAs etc). The group requires professional advice on how to get their e-commerce channel started. Although they are all Web enthusiasts they do not have technical ability or the know how to develop their ecommerce strategy. They approach Customised Media Solutions a well known web and media designers and developers group and ask them to come up with a proposal to develop the eCommerce channels for eMusic and help them develop their online value proposition. The company requires the following requirements to be developed: 1. Fully integrated E-commerce solution which includes order processing (from receiving the order to issuing invoices and processing payments). 2. Interactive Blog where users write their reviews about various products they have purchased. As part of the Customised Media Solutions team you are required to present a comprehensive report which includes the followings: 1. An Introduction 2. Critical discussion of the research - identification problems with rationale, outlining the key issues and findings of the report, compare similar websites. 3. The design and development approach (this should include web pages to demonstrate the design approach used) 4. Online value proposition, Marketing and CRM Plan discuss different ways of marketing the website and ways of attracting/retaining customers to the site. 5. Security considerations with special focus on user policy. 6. A budget which estimates development, implementation and Marketing costs.

Assessment of Deliverables

Possible design approaches to developing the e-commerce website (developing the user interface and front end interactivities). b. Secure staff interface which allows them to login to the Database. (The back-end infrastructure). c. The Blog where users write their reviews about various products they buy. Section 4 Online Value proposition, Marketing and CRM Plan discuss different ways of marketing the website and ways of attracting/retaining customers to the site. Note: Literature used needs to be properly referenced within your report. It is not acceptable to just submit a bibliography at the end of your report. You will loose marks. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA Part A: (50% of marks): The production of a web-site published to university server. Part B: (50% of marks): Report meeting above criteria. Contents page must include the word-count (excl appendices). The website plus report add up to 100% BUT up to 10% will be deducted for missing or poor contents page, poor spelling/grammar, missing or poor appendix or reference material, missing or wrong website URL, word-count too low or too high.
