DEPT: ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING SUB: EC 48 LINEAR INTEGRATED CIRCUITS LABORATORY SEMESTER: IV

The laboratory experiments in circuit theory course are dedicated for practical understanding Integrated Circuit concepts. Linking of the Integrated Circuit with practice it is very important motivate the students for learning theory and to encourage them to use this theory knowledge practical activity. Thus the relation of theoretical IC elements and Op-amp components understanding of IC functioning is the main objective of the Integrated Circuit theory course.

4.0 Principle Inverting Amplifier: The output voltage Vo is fed back to the inverting input terminal through Rf - R1 network where Rf is the feed back resistor. Input signal Vin(ac or dc) is applied to the inverting input terminal R1 and non-inverting input terminal of op-amp is grounded. The output voltage is inverting of the applied input voltage. Gain A = (-Rf / R1) 2. Non-Inverting Amplifier: The output voltage Vo is fed back to the inverting input terminal through Rf - R1 network where Rf is the feed back resistor. Input signal Vin(ac or dc) is applied to the non-inverting input terminal and inverting input terminal of op-amp is grounded. The output voltage is non-inverting of the applied input voltage.

Gain A = 1 + (Rf / R1)

3. Diffrential Amplifier: A circuit that amplifies the difference between two signals is called a difference or differential amplifier. This type of the amplifier is very useful in instrumentation circuit. The output voltage is the difference between the given applied two input voltages of inverting and non-inverting terminal. The output of this circuit is Vo=R2/R1 (V1 -V2). Such a circuit is very useful in detecting very small differences in signals, since the gain R2/R1 can be chosen very large.

Inverting Amplifier: Procedure: Connections are given as per the circuit diagram. The input signal is given to the inverting terminal. The non-inverting input terminal is grounded. The output is received from the 6th pin. The output is connected to the CRO. The output is inverted to the input. Observe the reading from the CRO and note down the input and output wave form. Vary the input voltage and note the output voltage and tabulate the readings. Calculate the practical output voltage and compare to the theoretical output voltage. Calculate the gain Av = Vo / Vin . Non-Inverting Amplifier: Procedure: Connections are given as per the circuit diagram. The input signal is given to the non-inverting terminal. The inverting input terminal is grounded. The output is received from the 6th pin. The output is connected to the CRO. The output is non-inverted to the input. Observe the reading from the CRO and note down the input and output wave form. Vary the input voltage and note the output voltage and tabulate the readings. Calculate the practical output voltage and compare to the theoretical output voltage. Calculate the gain Av = Vo / Vin . Differential Amplifier: Procedure: Connections are given as per the circuit diagram. The input signal is given to both inverting and non-inverting terminals. The output is received from the 6th pin. The output is connected to the Voltmeter. The output voltage is equal to the difference of input voltage. Observe the reading from the voltmeter and note down the input and output wave form. Vary the input voltage and note the output voltage and tabulate the readings. Calculate the practical output voltage and compare to the theoretical output voltage. Calculate the gain Av = Vo / Vin .
