2. Getting Started Guide


Thank you very much for purchasing Privileg MID-10! Our company has done every effort to make this user guide detailed and precise. But products and their software are all the time updated. If the product you are holding now differs from the description of the user guide, please follow the instructions on the screen of the product itself. Thank you!

2.1 Charging the Battery


Privileg MID-10 has an internal rechargeable battery. We suggest to recharge the battery immediately, when the battery power is low. Power Adapter Connect one end of the power adapter to a wall socket, and the other end of the power adapter to the power port of the device, then the device will start charging. 1

Charging the Battery 1. Connect the power adapter; the battery charge indicator turns red, indicating charging. When the battery is fully charged, the indicator turns off. After unplugging the power adapter, the indicator always stays off. 2. During Battery Charging, the user can operate the Privileg MID. Note: Charging time will be longer when you operate and charge the device at the same time.

2.2 How to use the Memory Card


Insert the memory card: Insert the memory card in the Card slot. Use a fingertip to put the card into the slot until a click sound is heard. The upper left corner of the screen will prompt: SD card is ready. Browsing files in the memory card: Run the "File Browser" program. Select "SD card", then Open to browse the contents of the Card. Remove the memory card: Close all applications or documents which have been opened from the card. Press the card lightly. It will be ejected partly. Pull the card out. The upper left corner of the screen will prompt "SD card has been removed". Note: 1. Insert card to in the correct position. Otherwise the card will be damaged. 2

2. Once the card has been locked, it can not be formatted or written. 3. Dont insert and remove the card repeatedly in a short time. It may cause the card damaged. 4. Suggest using major brands of memory card to avoid any incompatibility.

2.3 Remove and insert memory card and U disk


Please dont remove the memory card and U disk while you are using the files in it. For example, when you are viewing files in my photo, my video or my music apps, if you remove the memory card or U disk directly, this may cause the memory card and U disk to be damaged and the device may exit automatically for protection. For memory card removal, please refer to2.2 How to use Memory Card. In order to remove the U disk, please close all applications or documents which have been opened from the U disk.

2.4 Storage Space


The device has three storage spaces: internal device storage, U disk and memory card. The internal storage device is not shown, it can only be used to store system files; the U disk and memory card have their own its specific capacity, the device supports maximum 32GB card.

2.5 Power On and Off


1Power On: When power adaptor is plugged, User can long press (2seconds) Power button to enter the Window Platform.

2 Power Off: User can long press (4 seconds) the power button, then the system will pop up a dialog box for equipment selection. Slide the unlock icon The device can be shut down. User can long press (8 seconds) the power button to shut down the machine.

2.7 Switching screen orientation


The system interface can switch the screen automatically. If you choose switch orientation automatically when rotating, the orientation will switch automatically with device rotation. If you dont choose switch orientation automatically when rotating, a rotating screen icon will appear, and the screen will switch following the device only if you click the rotating screen icon.

2.8 Connecting to the Internet


Connecting to the Internet via Ethernet Insert the network cable into the Ethernet portYou can get the IP address automatically and you can also select to set the IP address manually. The upper right corner of the screen will show ETH icon. Connecting to the Internet by Wi-Fi 1. Click MENU button to pop-up the menu, and select "System Settings"; 2. Select "Wireless & networks" in the settings menu; 3. Select the box to open Wi-Fi; 4

4. Open Wi-Fi Settings; 5. All the AP in the vicinity will be listed, select the name of AP you want to connect to; 6. If the AP connection was successful before, the AP information will be saved in the pop-up window. Select "Connect" to connect, choose "Forget" to remove AP information; 7. If the AP is not encrypted, select "Connect" in the pop-up window to start connection; 8. If the AP is encrypted, enter the password in the pop-up window, and click "Connect" to start connection; 9. When Internet connections are successful, the wireless connection icon appears in the status bar.

3. Input Operations
3.1 Keyboard
When you need to enter text and numbers using the program or file, the touch screen keyboard will appear automatically. Note: This tablet supports an external USB keyboard, but when using an external USB keyboard, some keys may not work properly.

3.2 Touch Screen


The Touch Screen senses the finger movements: Note: Please do not place objects on the touch screen surface, they may scratch or crush it. Click: Select an icon, click on it, and then you can select the icon or an option; Long press: Select a single icon, long press it, and then you can drag it to the desktop display. Drag and Drop: You can switch between three screens of the desktop. In the process of using the screen, you can use a pencil instead.

4.2 The Home screen


The Tablet main screen contains two modes: Desktop Gadgets mode and Application mode the two modes can be switched via the central button, Desktop Gadgets screen is shown below:

4.3 Shortcuts
In the desktop screen, press the MENU button to pop up the shortcut menu. Menu items include: Add Widget, wallpaper, notification, Settings, Animation Mode - like the following screen:

4.4 A Quick Way To Add Gadgets

Widget If you want add a widget to the main screen: In the desktop gadget screen mode - Press Menu Add Widget, then you can add one to the main screen. After adding, click on the main screen for the implementation of the corresponding shortcut

4.5 The use of desktop gadget


Users can add, remove, install a desktop gadget, you can add, remove application icons, the icon can be moved to adjust the position. When in Desktop Gadgets screen, press the small tool icon, the screen pops up a small box, the central pop-up trash in the shortcut bar appears.. You can drag the icon anywhere on your desktop, you can also directly drag into the trash box to delete it.

5. Web Browsing
Users can connect to the Internet through a browser. Click the browser icon on the Desktop , and then you can open the Web browser.

6. Application Management
6.1 Install and Uninstall
Install To install third-party software, please first enter File Browser. Then find the APK file from the memory card, as in the following picture:

Click iReader.apk like the above picture to pop up the installation screen:

Click Install button, and then the device will begin to install iReader. After installing, the following screen will show:

Now the application is installed. Click Open, and you will be able to open iReader directly; click Done to go back to the File Browser. Uninstall To uninstall installed third-party software, press MENU Settings Application management application. You will see the following screen:

Click the application you want to uninstall, like iReader on the above picture. The uninstall screen will pop-up, like the following:

Click Uninstall to enter the confirmation uninstall interface:

Click OK to uninstall the application, and iReader will be uninstalled from the device.

6.2 Market
Click Market icon to enter the following screen:

If you want to download application software, you only need to click the icon. For example, click featured to enter the following screen:

Click the application you want to download, to enter the detailed screen. Click Download, a dialog box will pop up to enter account password. Enter your account password and the download will start After the download is complete, installation tips will pop up automatically. Click Install to have the application installed on the device. After installation is complete you can click History to manage the installed applications. Further on, you will be able to comment, open and uninstall the application. Click Comment to make your comments on the application; click Open to open it; click Uninstall to uninstall the application from the device.

7. Typical Applications
7.1 Chat Tools
You can download chat tools such as FRING, SKYPE and MSN.

7.2 E-mail
Click the E-mail icon 1. Set up an e-mail account; 2. Open a new e-mail; 3. Send and receive e-mail. Note: Press MENU to pop-up the shortcut menu. to enter the E-mail app, and then you can proceed as follows:

7.3 File Browser


Click the File Browser icon to enter file browser interface:

In the file browser, you can go back to previous, create new folder, switch to U disk udisk, switch to memory card TF card Copy files: If you want to copy files between the memory card and USB disk (U disk), please follow the procedure: Example: copy files from the memory card to the external U disk. 1. 2. Enter the File Browser and click the memory card icon Select the file you want to copy ; to enter the sdcard folder;

Click Local, the file will be pasted into the local directory.

Delete files: Select the file you want to delete, Select Delete to pop up the following confirmation delete dialog box:

Click OK to delete the file.

Click Gallery icon to browse pictures:

Click Video player icon to get into the list of the video files

7.6 YouTube
Click YouTube video icon to view all videos rom this source:

Click a video in the list to play it directly.

7.7 My Music

to enter the application, and play songs by clicking on them.

8.1 Some convenient operation modes

8.2 Convenient Set


Wi-Fi settings: Click Wi-Fi settings icon to enter the Wi-Fi settings. The following screen will show:

Ethernet:
Click Ethernet icon to enter the Ethernet screen. You can set the IP manually.

8.3 Battery Tips


Since the device has a large screen, it will consume a lot of power. In order to extend battery life, you can reduce the frequency of use of the following features: 1. Watching videos, listening to music or taking photographs; 2. Reduce display brightness: Please press MENU Settings Sound & display (Display Settings) Brightness (reduce the brightness); 3. Web search : Please press MENU Settings Wireless & networks Wi-Fi settings Network notification; 4. Wi-Fi use: Please press MENU Settings Wireless & networks Wi-Fi (turn off Wi-Fi).

9. Personalized settings
Click the settings on the shortcut menu to personalize the device settings.

9.1 Wireless controls


Wi-Fi If you want to open and close the Wi-Fi connection, please press MENU Settings 18

Wireless & networks Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi Settings If you want to set up and manage the wireless access point, please press MENU Settings Wireless & networks Wi-Fi settings. 3G network settings If you want to set up the 3G network, please press MENU Settings Wireless & networks 3G settings.

9.2 ADSL settings


Press MENU Settings ADSL Setting to enter the following screen. Enter user name and

password, and then click connect to connect via this broadband connection.

9.3 Sound &display


Set ringtones, notifications, and screen brightness.

Silent mode Except for the sounds when playing media, or the alarm clock, you can mute all other sounds. Please, press MENU Settings Sound & display (Sound settings) Silent mode. Media volume In order to set the volume of music and video, press MENU Settings Sound & display (Sound settings) Media volume. Notification ringtone In order to set the ringtone of incoming notifications, press MENU Settings Sound & display (Sound settings) Notification ringtone. Audible selection In order to play a sound when making a selection on the screen, press MENU Settings Sound & display (Sound settings) choose sound. TF card notifications In order to play a SD card notification sound, press MENU Settings Sound & display (Sound settings) TF card notifications. Orientation Press MENU Settings Sound & display (display settings) Orientation. You can switch orientation automatically when rotating the device. If you choose switch orientation automatically when rotating, the interface will switch automatically when the device is 20

rotated. Animation In order to open and close the window to display animation, press MENU Settings Sound & display(Display settings) Animation. Brightness In order to adjust the brightness of the screen, press MENU Settings Sound & display(Display settings) Brightness. Screen timeout In order to adjust the screen automatically to turn off after an idle period, press MENU Settings Sound & display(Display settings) Screen timeout.

9.4 Applications
Unknown Source After checking, you will be able to install an application, which is not provided by the App Market. Manage applications In order to manage and remove installed applications, press MENU Settings Applications Management applications. Development In order to set options for application development, please press MENU Settings Applications Development.

9.5 TF card & device storage


Here you can unmount the SD card (TF-card), and view available storage space

Storage devices Press the MENU Settings TF card &device storage Storage devices, and see the available space and the total space of the SD Card (TF card). Unmount SD Card In order to remove the SD card in a safe way, please press the MENU Settings TF card &device storage Unmount SD card. Internal device storage Press the MENU Settings TF card &device storage internal device storage, and check the internal device storage space

9.6 Date and Time


In order to set the date, time, time zone, and date/time format of the system, please press MENU Settings Date and Time.

9.7 Language & keyboard


In this screen you can make your local settings (language and region), text input.

Select local In order to set the language and region, press MENU Settings language & keyboard Select local. Android keyboard In order to choose Android keyboard and make Android keyboard settings, press MENU Settings language & keyboard Android keyboard. User dictionary In order to add words to the user dictionary and remove words from the user dictionary, press MENU Settings language & keyboard User dictionary. 23

9.8 About the device


Status In order to view the battery status, battery power, Wi-Fi address and boot time, press MENU Settings About device Status. Legal information In order to view the relevant legal information, press MENU Settings About device Legal information. Model number In order to view the model, press MENU Settings About device Model number. Firmware version In order to view the firmware version, press MENU Settings About device Firmware version. Kernel version In order to see the kernel version, press MENU Settings About device Kernel version. Build number In order to view the build number, press MENU Settings About device Build number.

9.9 Touchpanel Calibration


If you want to calibrate the touch screen, please press MENU Settings Calibration. Follow the prompts of the touch screen calibration procedure; when calibration is complete, there will be a prompt and advice to return to the corresponding list of settings.

10. Using HDMI


Via HDMI, you can switch the video from your tablet to a HDMI display device, (like TV, etc. with HDMI interface). The Tablet supports a maximum output resolution of 720p. 1. 2. 3. Open your tablet PC; Connect by a HDMI cable your Tablet to the HDMI display device. Open the display Play video files on the tablet; 24

device, when you have a HDMI connection, there will be a pop-up message on the status bar;

Press the MENU key, the tablet screen will turn black, and the video will be switched You can switch back in the following ways: After the video stops, it will automatically switch back to the tablet display You can press the MENU key while playing video You can pull out the HDMI cable while playing video You can click the BACK key while playing video

to the HDMI display and play. Please be patient, you will have to wait about 5 seconds;

11. Locking the MID


Screen / device lock: 1. When the screen is idle (no buttons pressed for a certain time), the device will lock the screen automatically in accordance with the system settings; 2. Short press the power button in any system interface to turn off the screen backlight and lock the screen. Screen / device unlock: When the system is in hibernation, press shortly the power button to enter the lock screen interface, slide the unlock icon, and you can unlock the screen.

12. Troubleshooting
12.1 Forced shutdown
Press the Power button for 7 seconds, and you will force the device shutdown.

12.2 Restore default settings


You can restore the device to factory settings and clear all entered information and settings. In shutdown mode, while holding down the power button and the menu key, then in the middle of the screen the Android robot will disappear, the screen will show the recovery, and you will restore the factory setting Warning: Resetting the device will delete Google accounts, system and application data and settings, downloaded applications, please use this feature carefully. 25
