Part 1

Premise Clown and a Pianist are just two of many artists performing at an old theatre in a small town. One day when they turn up for work, they are finding out that the building is going to be demolished. Two performers dont want to give up so easily, and they keep giving spectacles even if its for free. Logline An old theatre is about to be demolished. Two artists with sadness are giving their last performance. Step Outline EXT. An old Victorian theatre- Early morning. A brick building is shown in friendly surroundings. There isnt many houses around is and opposite the street there is a park. INT. Theatre Four flashbacks of people performing: dancers, actors, pianist and clowns. EXT. By the old theatre- Morning Two people walking down the street one is wearing a tuxedo the other on is dressed up as a clown. They get to the front door of the theatre, where is a big sign saying DANGER demolition in progress, but they walk in anyway. INT. Theatre Two flashbacks of Clown and Pianist performing. During the first performance the roof of the building is missing. During second there are only two walls left. EXT/ INT. Theatre- Evening On the day of final demolition all there is left from the theatre is a stage. A lot of people gathered to watch the last performance. After a huge applause when the music stopped, everyone becomes quiet. Both Clowns and Pianists faces become sad. A young boy runs up on the stage and points in the direction of the perk. Between trees a stage shows up lighten up by small colourfull lamps.

Script The Last Performance By: Alicja Druzga Draft 1

EXT. A Victorian theatre- Morning An old free standing Victorian theatre is shown. On the other side of the street there is a park. INT. Theatre 4 short flashbacks are shown- (to give an idea of what the theatre is used for) First flashback shows a stage full of dancers in colourful clothing. Second is of a pianist playing a grand piano. Third is of a play, and actors dressed in various costumes. Fourth shows clowns doing tricks and making people laugh. EXT. Street by the theatre Two people are walking down the street one is wearing a tuxedo the other is dressed up as a clown. They walk up to the theatres front door. With a surprise they find a big sign saying; DANGER demolition in progress . The clown gets upset, the pianist puts his arm around the clown and opens the door. INT. Old theatre- Stage 2 short scenes of the clown and the pianist performing for a small crowd of people. One day when the clown performs the roof of the building is gone and the clear blue sky is showing. Second day when the pianist performs, another two walls are missing. INT/EXT. Theatre- Late Evening Pianist and Clown are both standing on the stage which is the only thing left from the theatre. In front of them there is a huge crowd of people who came to see their last performance, before the final demolition. The Pianist starts to play a cheerful music and the clown starts making his funny tricks. When the music stops there is a big applause from the audience, but after a short while everyone becomes quiet. Both performers got very upset. The Clown is crying and the Pianist has a pained expression on his face.

A young boy runs up on the stage, poked the Clown and points at the direction of the park. Everyone turns around. At the same time between the trees a small stage shows up, lighten up by tiny colourful lamps. Clown and the Pianist are smiling again. END.
