February 2012
February 1, 2012 Dear CCV Family, Jesus said, For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21 It took me many years to truly understand the meaning of what Jesus was saying. For me, it was always the other way around, my treasure followed my heart. My business was important to me, so I invested in it. My house was important to me, so I invested in it. My family was important to me, so I invested in them. What I believed was important in my heart, thats what I invested in. But eventually, Gods Word spoke to me loud and clear and I began to understand the truth that Jesus was trying to transfer. This verse is about His priorities and my commitment to be faithful. Its a verse about choosing whats most important, even when its hard and I dont want to. Its a verse about worship, trust, faith and obedience. As I have faithfully given back to the Lord first, making Him my priority above all else over the years my heart has increased in love for Him. I can unashamedly say, my heart now follows Jesus. On February 26th your church will be having our annual state of the church meeting where we will be approving our 2012 budget and installing new elders/deacons. There are a few things that I would like you to prayerfully consider prior to this meeting and they all relate to our treasure. We are running negative $3,000.00 a month of our needed budget to make ends meet and only have a couple of months left in reserve. Some facts regarding our giving habits. We have roughly 51 families in our church. Of those 51 families 30 attend on a regular basis. This means, on any given Sunday 21 families are not in church. In order to close our $ 3,000.00 a month deficit there are three options to consider. First, if the 30 families who come faithfully would commit to giving an extra $ 28.00 a week we could make budget. Second, if the 21 families with sporadic attendance would commit to regular attendance and give $ 40.00 a week we could make budget. Thirdly, If we would simply pray for the boldness to invite someone to church we would begin to grow and thrive as Christ intended His church to. Could you imagine the possibilities if we began to do all three? I have always said that if we could as a church family commit to regular attendance, commit to regular giving and commit to inviting our unchurched friends we would have no financial worries. So please consider in these weeks leading up to our business meeting how you might be stretched by God in this vital area of being faithful to Him. We will have 2012 commitment cards for the purpose of determining pledge amounts as a decision making tool for our future direction and budgeting as a church. My prayer is that our church family will answer the call and make real financial commitments to
