Silly word game - demonstrate how to play the game by picking a card from each set and arranging them in the sentence on the ledge below the whiteboard. Ask the children for name of occupations the know and list them out on the board. Show them pictures of occupations. Ask twhere the piple work and what they wear. Ask the children about their parents occupations and where they work. Give out a reading passage to the children. Give the children time to read about Abdul Rahim bin Daud. Read the information about Abdul rahim with the class. Check that the children know what weight and height means. Ask the children question about Rahim. Ask them to work out how old he is, ,where he works, etc. if the children give short answers, model the whole sentences for them to repeat, encourage sentence- length answers. As a class, read the passage together, filling in the missing words. Reading and writing (30 min) Ask the children to use the information from the table to complete the sentences. If necessary go through the chart orally with the children. Ask them to read about Cg Norlinawati. Using the texts about Abdul Rahim and Sulaiman as models, ask the children to write a paragraph, ,in their exercise books about Cg Norlinawati. Wednesday Date: 11th January 2012 4 Mawar (10.30 11.30am) Theme: Traditional Clothes Classroom routines/Greetings/ settling/ tuning in activities.
Listening and speaking (30 min) Talk about traditional clothes. Tell the children that these clothes are in the same styles as they were a long time ago. Most children will wear traditional clothes when they go to a wedding. If they go to a special event, such as His majesty the Sultans Birthday, they will see many people wearing traditional clothes. Give the children a passage on traditional clothes. Ask the children to look at the traditional clothes in the pupils book. Talk about the photographs and ask the questions on the page. Give the children time to read the passage. Read the passage with them. Talk about the passage with the class and ask questions to check their understanding.
Reading and writing (30 min) Ask the children to look at the pictures and read the instructions. Can they remember any of the names of the clothes? Tell them to use the passage given to help them label each item of clothing- explain that for labels only words is needed. Worksheets 1. Remind the class to look carefully where each label is pointing to and to take care with their spelling. If necessary do the first label with the children. Worksheet 2. The children should identify the pronoun referents at the top of the page. Ask the children to complete the answers to the other questions in sentences. Tell them that they will need to use she or he or the peoples name for their answers and not I as it is in the passage.

Ask the children to guess the meaning of these words from the context, after they have read the whole passage. Before the children start to read, initiate discussion around the theme of the passage. Guide the childrens reading by asking relevant questions and facilitate relevant discussion about the text theme. Ask different types of questions on closed questions and open-ended questions so children requires to guess, assume, give their own opinion, a reason or an explanation. During the reading of the text, questions should be asked to check comprehension of, or clarify information in, paragraphs already read. Ask the children on closed questions and open-ended.
