M.Tech. Project:
The fabrication, characterization and application of a simple, cost-effective and sensitive molecularly imprinted conducting polymeric platform for detection of the water pollutant, para-nitrophenol (PNP). Polyaniline-polyvinyl sulphonic acid composite (PANI-PVSA) has been electrochemically fabricated in presence of PNP as template. Spectroscopic and electrochemical characterization of the composite films have been carried out with Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transformed infra red spectroscopy (FT-IR), Ultra violet spectroscopy (UV) and contact angle (CA)measurements, Cyclic Voltametry(CV) and Differential pulse voltametry (DPV) studies. The charge transfer kinetics of these electrodes have been conducted through cyclic voltametric studies as a function of scan rate. The Electrochemical sensing studies of PNP imprinted polymer composite shows low detection limit of 0.05 mM with a sensitivity of 1.79x10-5mM and good reusability. Real sample analysis has also been performed by using these molecularly imprinted electrodes. Another molecularly imprinted nano composite has been synthesized using poly phenol and barium ferrite. This nano composite has been characterized with Scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transformed infra red spectroscopy (FT-IR), Ultra violet spectroscopy (UV) and contact angle (CA) measurements, Cyclic Voltametry (CV) and Differential pulse voltametry (DPV) studies. Myoglobin imprinted nano composites of poly phenol and barium ferrite has been prepared by the electropolymerization of phenol and barium ferrite presence of myoglobin. The sensing response studies show linearity in the range of 80 L to 100 L with regression coefficient and standard deviation as 0.999 and 1.02, respectively. Further the high sensitivity of 2.5 Hzg -1L and very low detection limit of 1.26 L reveals the implication of this myoglobin imprinted PPn-BaF/ITO electrode as highly efficient and competent sensing platform.
M.Sc Project:
The main motivation of this work is the low-cost fabrication and characterization of perovskite barium titanate (BaTiO3) and lead titanate (PbTiO3) nanoscale particles. X-ray diffraction studies show the formation of the barium and lead titanate and a rough idea about the paricle size. The XRD technique used here also confirms that an insufficient reaction time at 8000 C will not result in the formation of the perovskite BaTiO3 structure, whereas over-sintering (9000 C) results in BaTiO3 and by-products of BaTi2O5 and in the case of lead titanate it predicts a maximum tetragonality (~1.06) for the stoichiometry Mn:Ti=0.11. The polyvinyl alcohol polymer-dispersed nano-BaTiO3 system exhibits a proportionately large remanent polarization (1 C cm2 ) and coercive field (70 kV cm-1). The inexpensive synthesis is attractive for large-scale production and device application. Photoluminescence studies show an intense emission peak (lem~604 nm) which is ascribed to the disordered inorganic phase of lead titanate containing nonbridging oxygen defects and the PhotoLuminescence peak becomes more symmetric owing to the association of Mn2+ related orange emission. The excessive Mn doping was found to hinder the radiative process significantly owing to the unreated MnO2 phase or development of a thin MnO2 over layer on nanostructure surface.
