Budget Highlights 2011 12 Tourism  Rs.

Budget Speech Tourism 164. Our State is blessed with natural resources, ancient monuments, temples and art & culture. In 2010-11, Karnataka Tourism was adjudged as the most visible Indian tourism destination at over 8 leading international travel trade fairs. To take up new infrastructure works, an amount of Rs.50 crore will be provided during 2011-12. 165. In 2010-11, the Department took up eco tourism project at Jogimatti in Chitradurga district, beautification of Sadanakeri at Dharwad and creation of tourist facilities at Malpe, Marawante, St. Marys Island and Gokarna. 166. A theme park is proposed to be set up in Hampi to commemorate 500 years of coronation of Sri Krishna Devaraya of Vijayanagar Empire and to revive glory of Vijayanagar Empire. An amount of Rs.100 crore will be provided for this purpose. Apart from this, an amount of Rs.10 crores will be provided for the development of the city of Hampi.

KARNATAKA BUDGET 2010-2011 HIGHLIGHTS Tourism An amount of Rs. 204 crore provided for development of tourism infrastructure in the State For promotion of tourism, entrepreneurs will be permitted to purchase up to 5 acres of agricultural land, at 100 selected tourist centres in the State for the construction of hotels. Concessional loan at the interest rate of 10% will be made available through Karnataka State Finance Corporation. Such enterprises will also be given VAT exemption for a period of 3 years. A theme park will be developed at a cost of Rs. 50 crore at the renowned world heritage site Hampi An amount of Rs. 5 crore will be provided for developing roads and infrastructure at the famous tourist place of Sringeri. Speech Tourism 286. An amount of Rs.204 crore is being provided in 201011 for development of tourism infrastructure in the State. Tourist spots will be developed in collaboration with the private sector, after preparing projects for integrated development, with necessary infrastructure for tourists at important tourist sites in every district 287. A theme park will be developed at a cost of Rs.50 crore at the renowned world heritage site Hampi to reflect the glorious traditions of the Vijayanagara empire.

Rs. 5 Crore for renovation of Brindavan garden in Krishnaraja Sagar. Speech Tourism 233. An amount of Rs.180 crore will be provided for supporting the development of tourism in the State in this years Budget. Infrastructure facilities of good quality will be developed under public private partnership at the important tourist places like Hampi, Badami, Pattadakal, Bijapur, Belur, Halebeedu, Somanathapura, Jog etc. 234. An amount of Rs.10 crore will be provided for the development of Nandi Hills, Kemmanagundi, Kodachadhri and other hill stations.

235. An amount of Rs.5 crore will be provided for development of Tagore Beach at Karwar. 236. An amount of Rs.5 crore will be provided for renovating the Brundavan Garden near Krishnaraja Sagar in Mandya District. 237. Kukarahalli tank in Mysore will be developed. An amount of Rs.2 crore will be provided for this. 238. Facilities for Night Safari at Bannerghatta near Bangalore will be developed with the required assistance. 239. An amount of Rs.2 crore will be provided for the construction of Yathrinivas at Sringeri, and an amount of Rs.1 crore will be provided for the development of Kigga Kshethra. 240. Shanthi Sagara lake in Channagiri Taluk will be developed as a tourist center with assistance of Rs.2 crore. Budget 2008-09 JULY Infrastructure Development 102. The State government has released its state support of Rs.295 crores and equity of Rs.48 crores to Bangalore International Airport Limited. All necessary steps are being taken to quickly improve road connectivity to the new airport. This private-public partnership projects will be funded on the basis of viability gap funding and KSIIDC will be the nodal agency for establishment of these projects. In 07-08 I propose to allocate Rs. 50 crore for viability gap funding. 97. Our Government proposes to promote development of Aqua Marine park, golf club and ropeway between Tannir Bavi and Sultan Bateri at Mangalore on a PPP model. This work will be assigned to KSIIDC. For this purpose I propose to allocate Rs 20 crores in 2007-08 for viability gap funding. We need to develop our major hill stations at Nandi hills and Kemmanugundi on a PPP model.
