BACKGROUND OF STUDY
JOB SATISFACTION:
Locke (1976) has defined job satisfaction as "a pleasurable or positive emotional state, resulting from the appraisal of one's job experiences" meaning that job satisfaction is associated with an individual's emotional reactions to a particular job. Job Satisfaction is a part of life satisfaction. Job Satisfaction is the result of various attitudes possessed by an employee. In a narrow sense, these attitudes are related to the job under condition with such specific factors such as wages. Supervisors of employment, conditions of work, social relation on the job, prompt settlement of grievances and fair treatment by employer. INFLUENTIAL FACTORS OF JOB SATISFACTION: The major factors influencing job satisfaction are presented below: Pay Job Security Social Simulation Demographic Factors Opportunity For Promotion Recognition & Appreciation Interpersonal Relationships Opportunity To Use Ones Abilities Working Hours & Physical Conditions Adequate Authority & Sense Of Control Equal Opportunities Working Environment

RATIONALE: One of the major assets of an organization is the people that it employs.
This is because an effective organization aims to involve good work performers. Job satisfaction is of a great importance to an effective organization and its employees as it has a great relevance for human health, considering that most people spend a large part of their

working lives at work. Furthermore, apart from its humanitarian value there is also a great interest in seeing whether job satisfaction is related to or not, to job related behaviors such as productivity, turnover and absenteeism. There are many factors which influence the performance of the employees such as the working condition, the salary, the job tasks, the relationships between employees and managers including levels of their communication between them etc. Thus, these factors give rise to the need of conducting job satisfaction surveys.

OBJECTIVES:
To study the job satisfaction of employees. To measure the satisfaction levels of employees on various factors. To study the impact of job satisfaction on the productivity of the company.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
The methodology followed for conducting the study includes the specification of research design, sample design, questionnaire design, data collection and statistical tools used for analyzing the collected data. Sample Size: 50 Research Design: The research design used for this study is of the descriptive type. Descriptive research studies are those studies which are concerned with describing the characteristics of a particular individual or a group. Sampling Design: Since it is difficult to contact the entire population, sampling technique was adopted. The employees were interviewed using convenience sampling techniques. Questionnaire Design: Questionnaire was designed in consultation with the Guide in such a manner that it would facilitate the respondents to reveal maximum information. Data Collection: The primary data was collected by using questionnaires. The questionnaire has 16 questions excluding marital status, age, and factor. A five point scale was used such as strongly disagree, disagree, neutral, agree and strongly agree. Statistical tools used for analysis: Descriptive Analysis

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY: 1. Sample size of the study is only 50. 2. Some of the respondents may not respond to the questions honestly. 3. Due to time constraint the researcher may not be able to complete the project to desired level.
