General Sciences, Incorporated (GSI) was founded in the mid-1980s by Dr. Peter Zavitsanos, a Physical Chemist experienced in the technology of intermetallic and exothermic solid-solid reactions. GSIs initial efforts into utilizing energetic materials were focused on vaporizing metallic species for exo/extreme endoatmospheric cloud formation for national defense and space studies. Other applications for these materials began to surface, and GSI is currently pursuing the use of non-explosive, energetic materials for multiple defense applications, such as replacement of parasitic mass with energetic structural members in munitions, destruction of chemical and biological agents in both storage and deployed configurations, land mine defeat, armor and reinforced concrete breaching, production facility defeat and missile defense. GSI is also engaged in the development of tamper and theft-resistant electronics, expanded diagnostic capabilities for energetic materials, ballistic evaluation of energetic materials and materials processing techniques applicable to reactive materials. GSI offers our customers the flexibility of a small company, the experience of both university and industrial-trained personnel and the ability to successfully apply non-traditional technology to difficult problems. GSI provides reactive material support from raw feedstocks to finished components, as well as diagnostic support throughout the developmental process.
