Biography of the director

Revaz Shatakishvili was born in 1976 in Gori, Georgia. Since his earlier childhood he had been publishing articles in national printed media. He was only 11 years old when his first article was published in newspaper Norchi lenineli: In 1994 he enrolled and in 1999 he graduated from Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University, faculty of Law qualified as a lawyer. Parallel to studies he started working and still works in printed media as a journalist. Between 1995-1997 he was publishing and editing youth newspaper Pikrebi(in english Thoughts). After his own edition was closed he continued working in the following newspapers: Akhali Sakartvelo(New Georgia)- as a deputy editor in Chief. Dilis gazeti ( The mornings newspaper) - as an editor of criminal unit. Meridiani- political journalist. Alia-Kviris Kronika- Journalist. At present he still works as a journalist for newspaper PrimeTime . In 2010 Prime Time edited the book The Hero dedicated to soldiers died in 2008 in the Russian-Georgian war. The book included more than hundred essays written by Revaz Shatakishvili. In 2011 the International Journalists Foundation awarded Revaz Shatakishvili the title of laureate of Golden Wing for his merits in the development of Georgian journalism. In 2005-2009 he studied at Drama Department of Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film Georgian State University that he graduated from with honours. He had academic degree of bachelor in arts, qualification of director of drama. During his studies in the baccalaureate he put on the stage the following plays: Tennessee Williams The crashed Petunias 2007 Lord Dunsany The glittering Gate -2008 The War lifetime based on motives of Servantes, Adele Hakimi and Georgian Folklores . In 2009 he put on the stage the play of Jean-Claude Carriere - The young prince and the truth at the small stage of Rustaveli theatre; it was his Diploma work. In 2009 he was enrolled in graduate level of University namely in the group of the famous director Rober Sturua. During the studying period he put on the stage the plays Two brothers of Fausto Paravidino and The Balcony of Otar Katamadze at Rustaveli theatre. In 2011 he put on the stage of Georgian Theatre and Film University Glass Menagerie - the play of Tennesse Williams. The premiere held on April the 6th 2011 in Moldova, in Kishinev at The International Festival of Theatre schools Classfest.

Revaz Shatakishvili participated with his work Glass Menagerie in The International festival of Student theatres Teatralni Kufar in Minsk, from September the 25th to October the 2nd 2011. Thanks to this performance as well as to his theory works on theoretical and practical aspects of working on Glass Menagerie of Tennessee Williams Revaz Shatakishvili was awarded the academic degree of Master of theatrical Arts. At present Revaz Shatakishvili continues studying at the postgraduate level His postgraduate program is Drama Direction- analysis of Theory and Practice. He gives the courses at Shota Rustaveli Georgian Theatre and Film State University. Invited by Kishinev Academy of Music, Theatre and Arts Revaz Shatakishvili carried out the joint Georgian-Moldavian experimental project: in participation with young Moldavian actors he put on the stage in Georgian and Rumanian languages the play of Fernando Arrabal Picnic on the battlefield. The Experience meant playing the theatre by Moldavian actors in Georgian - unknown language for them and only after that they played the same theatre in Rumanian language. The partner of the project was the National Theatre of Moldova Republic Mihai Eminesku. The premiere of the theatre held on September the 8th 9th 10th at the stage of the National theatre. Afterwards this play was included in current repertoire of the theatre.
