1. Introduction
This software allows consulting the state and configuring the modules GPS OSA
4533/4534 modules. The module is represented by a logic view (EI), through a RS232
serial connection. This graphic view allows to consult the module's state (Alarms,
Events) as well as it's configuration.
1.1. Management Features
1.1.1. Configuration Management:
CMSW possesses a graphic view (EI) allowing to visualise the state of the module as
well as accessing the different functions to be configured.
1.1.2. Fault Management:
CMSW allows consulting the entire alarm and event history since it's connection de to
the module.
It also allows saving, exporting and printing the history for a more comfortable
consultation.

3.2.3. GPS Module Operational State
The general functioning state of the module is indicated in the upper zone
The different possible modes are :
1) Init (Red)
The module starts up.
Cause : The module has just been connected or the user forced a restart.
2) Warm-Up (Red)
The oscillator is in warm up stage.
Cause : The oscillator is cold.
3) Holdover (Red)
The module is not locked.
Cause : The GPS signals is not valid.
4) Forced Holdover (Red)
The module is not locked (user forced mode).
Cause : The user forced the Holdover mode with the GPS General window.
5) Squelched (Red)
The module no longer sends out the signal.
Cause : The module has been in Holdover longer than the delay configured in HBSQ.
6) Tracked Fast (Yellow)
The module is locked with a weaker time constant.
Cause : The module reselected and input and uses a different time constant than the
one configured in order to lock correctly and more rapidly.
7) Tracked (Green)
The module is operational.

These different symbols represent the state of the module's outputs, the two possible
states are as follows :
Green : The signal is sent out.
Red : The signal is not sent out because the module is
squelched, see Holdover Before Squelch function for
additional information.
Above each triangle appears the types of signals sent out, which are :

3.2.5. Wait to Restore Time
The WTR function allows configuring the delay during which a newly validated input
cannot be used by the module. In this way, the selection of an intermittent signal is not
necessary.
The WTR state of an input is represented by a blue bitmap as shown in the example
above. The WTR value configured for both inputs and the remaining values are
indicated in the lower zone of the EI.
To configure Wait to Restore Time, open the WTR dialog box in the Configuration
menu or in the contextual menu in the WTR zone.
The following window appears :
It is possible to disable WTR so as not to use the WTR function.
The configured value for both inputs is between 1 and 2500 seconds. The remaining
values for each input are shown in the lower zone of the dialog box.

5) Red-green light blinking
Antenna and either GPS input, Init, WarmUp, Tracked Fast, OCXO alarms.
6) Off (Black)
The module is not on, not possible in this case, otherwise the application could
communicate.
For further information concerning module alarms, please refer to the alarms and
events chapter.
The lower zone indicated the number of active alarms as well as the number of alarms
and events detected since the connection of the software to the module.

3.2.7. Time and Date
This zone indicates the date and time of the module and the time difference in relation
to UTC date and time.
Note :
The alarms shown in the alarm and event window are generated by the date and time
of the module, not by those of the PC. When the module starts up and has not yet
acquired the date and time from the GPS signal, default date and time are
established.
For further information concerning module alarms, please refer to the alarms and
events chapter.

3.2.9. Holdover Before Squelch (HBSQ)
The Holdover Before Squelch (HBSQ) function allows cutting the outgoing signal when the
module has been in Holdover mode during a prolonged time. This delay can be configured
and is indicated in the Automatic Squelch zone of the Element Interface. In the example
above, the module has been in Holdover for 1 minute and the outputs will be squelched 2
minutes later if the module stays in this state. In this case the Element Interface indicates the
Squelched state as follows :
The Element Interface indicates Squelched and the outputs appear in red when the HBSQ
delay has run out. The module no longer sends out signals.
To configure the HBSQ function, open the HBSQ window in the Configuration menu or at the
contextual menu in the Automatic Squelch zone.

Author: OSA - DUCH Revision: - Last Up-date: 12.09.2002 Creation: 12.09.2002
The Holdover Before Squelch dialog box appears as follows :
The HBSQ value must be between 1 and 7200 minutes. Disable radio button signifies that
the user does not wish to use the HBSQ function. Hence, the module will never squelch the
outgoing signal after prolonged Holdover.

This information is compatible with NMEA 0183. The application is capable of connecting
itself to module generating that spontaneous information and displays it in a specific window.
The TOD menu allows activating or deactivating the
spontaneous generation of Time of Day on the GPS
module and to visualise the information contained in this
protocol.
The Details menu allows access to the following window.
The zones are as follows :
TOD State indicates the state of the generation of Time of Day as well as the number of
errors calculated by the CRC.
Offset from UTC indicates the offset of the date and time in relation to UTC.
UTC Date and UTC Time indicates the UTC date and time decoded from the TOD message.
The list in lower part of the window displays the last TOD messages received by the
application.

configured at 4800 bauds as foreseen by the NMEA 0183 norm.
The menu Configuration -> Baud Rate opens the following window. It allows selecting the
modules communication speed, either 4800 or 9600 bauds.
When the user validates his choice, the application modifies the communication speed and
automatically reconnects to it.. During the modification of the speed, the following wait
message appears.

OUTPUT SIGNAL FAULT
The module's oscillator has failed or ReTiming unit has no input reference signal.
GPS ANTENNA FAULT
The antenna is either disconnected or short-circuited.
GPS TIMING ERROR
The GPS module receives invalid signals. This alarm can also appear at start up of the
module while searching for satellites.
START UP OR WARM UP
The module is in start up or is warming it's oscillator.
TRACKED FAST MODE
The module is locked on an input that has a different time constant than the one configured
in order to correctly lock on the selected input more rapidly.
HOLDOVER MODE
The module is not locked because either the inputs are invalid, deactivated or the Holdover
mode has been forced by the user.
OUTPUT SQUELCHED
The outputs of the module are occupied because the module remained in Holdover longer
than the configured HBSQ delay.
