Software defined radio

least expensive way of connecting. And equipment makers wouldnt need to overhaul their products to fit every new telecommunications standard. Wireless providers would be able to roll out new services easily and troubleshoot technical glitches with a simple download. Software-defined radio is definitely coming. Dont expect an overnight transformation, though. After all, it took years for the PC to sweep aside the IBM selective typewriter. This revolution, too, is bound to happen in a series of incremental but significant steps. When we run samples through the same channels at two different sampling rates, managing the data flow so that we dont drop data or get struck which turns out to be difficult. If youre trying to cover all the commercially interesting wave bands, its also hard to filter the received signals, efficiently amplify the power of transmitted signals, and do the analog-to-digital conversion. For those and other reasons, most efforts focus on baseband signal processing. The typical approach is to build in reconfigurable components such as DSPs or FPGAs and then write code for whatever waveform youre dealing with. Processing a different waveform just means writing new software. Once the hardware becomes obsolete, though, much of the software typically cant be reused, because it was written for those specialized components. So we have to develop code from scratch. Just as the personal computer replaced the typewriter, the adding machine, and even the telephone, so the software radio will one day replace the cell phone.

Software defined radio is a commercial device that uses a general purpose processor to handle two waveforms simultaneously. The major concept behind is to get rid of the specialized electronics used to process radio signals and instead does everything with software. The result will be a universal wireless device that can seamlessly handle a range of frequencies, modulation techniques, and encoding schemes. This is making software-defined radio an exciting alternative to traditional wireless service. This operates from the cellular base station that can simultaneously process two waveforms - CDMA (code division multiple access) and GSM (global system for mobile communications) - all in software running on off-the-shelf computer servers. Base stations are an integral but largely invisible part of their infrastructure, routing voice and data traffic between cell phone users and the network of landlines. Theres the radio front end, consisting of an antenna and a radio-frequency transceiver that picks up the analog radio waves, filters out the unwanted portions of the spectrum, and converts the remainder into a lower-frequency signal, which is fed into an analog-todigital converter. The resulting baseband signal is then processed - that is, its demodulated, decompressed, or otherwise decoded by a special-purpose integrated circuit, a digital signal processor (DSP), a field-programmable gate array (FPGA), or some combination of the three. A cell phone based on software-defined radio would be lighter, smaller, cheaper, and more power efficient. Whats more, it would be better at making calls: instead of being stuck with one frequency or even one cellular carrier, it would automatically search out the best and

age (C.820 CE) was particularly influential some of his results are cheated by Al-Khwarizmi and in the 10th century Al- Brunei stated that Aryabhatas followers believed that the earth rotated on its axis. He assumed that jibe was the Arabic word jaib, which means fold in a garment. Calendric calculations devised by Aryabhatta and his followers have been in continuous using India for the practical purposes of fixing the Panchanga (The Hindu calendar). The dates of the Jalali calendar are based on actual solar transit, as in Aryabhatta an earlier Siddhartha calendars. Indias first satellites Aryabhatta and the lunar crater Aryabhatta are named in his honour. An Institute for conducting research in astronomy, astrophysics and atmospheric sciences is the Aryabhatta research institute of observational sciences (ARIOS) near Naintal, India. The inter school Aryabhatta maths competition is also named after him as is Bacillus Aryabhatta, a species of bacteria discoverer by ISRO scientists in 2009. Aryabhatas astronomical calculation methods were also very influential. Along with the trigonometric tables, they came to be widely used in the Islamic world and used to be computing many Arabic astronomical tables (zijes).

Aryabhatta (476-550 CE) was the first in the line of great mathematician astronomers from the classical age of Indian mathematics and astronomy. His most famous works are the Aryabhatiya (499 CE, when he was 23 years old) and the Arya Siddhanta. Aryabhatta is the author of several treatises on mathematics and astronomy, some of which are lost. His major work, Aryabhatiya, a compendium of mathematics and astronomy, was extensively referred to in the Indian mathematical literature and has survived to modern times. The mathematical part of the Aryabhatiya covers arithmetic, algebra, plane trigonometry, and spherical trigonometry. It also contains continued fractions, quadratic equations, power series and a table of sines. The Arya-Siddhanta, a lost work on astronomical computations, is known through the writings of Aryabhatas contemporary, Varahamihira, and later mathematicians and commenters, including Brahmagupta and Bhaskara. A third text, which may have survived in the Arabic translation, is Al nit or Al-nanf. It claims that it is a translation by Aryabhatta, but the Sanskrit name of this work is not known. Probably dating from the 9th century, it is mentioned by the Persian scholar and chronicler of India, ABU Rayon al-Brunei. Aryabhatas work was of great influence in the Indian astronomical tradition and influenced several neighbouring cultures through translations. The Arabic translation during the Islamic golden

and Brad Laugh was elected Member of Parliament for Northampton in 1880. Divorce was unthinkable for Frank, and was not really within the reach of even middle class people. Annie was to remain Mrs Besant for the rest of her life. She was able to keep contact with both children and to have Mabel live with her; she also got a small allowance from her husband. She became involved with Union organizers including the Bloody Sunday demonstration and the London match girls strike of 1888 and was a leading speaker for the Fabien society and the Marxist Social Democratic Federation (SDF). She was elected to the London School Board for Tower Hamlets, topping the poll even though few women were qualified to vote at that time. In 1890 Besant met Helena Blavatsky and over the next few years her interest in Theosophy grew wide her interest in secular matters waned. She became a member of the Society and a highly successful lecturer in theosophy. As part of her theosophy related work, she travelled to India where in 1898 she helped established the Central Hindu College, and in 1902 she formed the international Order of Co-freemasonry in England.

Annie Wood was born in 1847 in London into a middle-class family of Irish origin. She was proud of her heritage and supported the cause of Irish self-rule throughout her adult life. Her father died when she was five years old, leaving the family almost penniless. Her mother supported the family by running a boarding house for boys at Harrow School. However, she was unable to support Annie and persuaded her friend Ellen Marry to care for her. Marryat made sure that Besant had a good education. She was given a strong sense of what independent women could achieve. As a young woman, she was also able to travel widely in Europe. There she acquired a taste for Roman Catholic colour and ceremony that never left her. In 1867, at age nineteen she married 26-years old clergyman Frank Besant, young brother of Walter Besant. He was an evangelical Anglican who seemed to share many of her concerns. On the eve of marriage, she had become more politicised through a visit to friends in Manchester, who brought her into contact with both English radicals and the Manchester Martyrs of the Irish Republican Fenian Brotherhood, as well as with conditions of the urban poor. She was married at 19 to Frank Besant separated from him over religious differences. She then became a prominent speaker for the National Secular Society (CSS) and writer and a close friend of Charles Brad laugh. In 1877 they were prosecuted for publishing a book by birth control campaigner Charles Knowlton. The scandal made them famous

CONTROLLING STREET LIGHTS ON SENSING THE VEHICLES Now a day's every system is automated in order to face new challenges. In the present days Automated systems have less manual operations, flexibility, reliability and accurate. Due to this demand every field prefers automated control systems. Especially in the field of electronics automated systems is giving good performance. Sometimes the term automation means with less intervention of human. The main aim of the project controlling street lights on sensing the vehicles is to control the switching of Street Lights automatically according to the density of the traffic like day time or night time. This allows realizing the task efficiently and effectively without the intervention of human by making it automated and even can avoid unnecessary wastage of power by switching it off at right time. To detect the presence of an object IR sensor is used which senses the light actually like eyes. IR sensors have very wide applications in sensing an obstacle. In this project these IR sensors are used for sensing the presence of any vehicle ahead or any movement and send a signal to the street lights to switch ON and after the time delay provided the street lights will switch OFF. Street lights without manual operation i.e. by using this system manual effort is 100% removed. By using this system energy consumption is also reduced because nowadays the manually operated street lights are not switched off even the sunlight comes and also switched on earlier before sunset. High Power LED street lights are new series of energy saving products that utilize high power LEDs as effective lighting source to traditional illumination, such as LPS, HPS, or MH street lights. LED street lighting is environmentally friendly, energy efficient and cost-effective. LED street lighting, as an important member of public lighting Family, have apply to many different countries with increasing need, which is to fit the requirement of low carbon and environment-protection. Features of this project are this system can be easily monitored, ease in understanding the working module, it is easy to operate and power can be saved. Advantage of this project is that the system is highly sensitive, works according to the light intensity, low cost and reliable circuit, and completely eliminates man power. Applications are balcony / stair case / parking lightings, garden lights, oil burner flame out, automatic headlight turner.

CAREER CASE
Communication skills speaking skills: You can hear the fashionable phrase 'good communication skills widely bandied about these days. The skills, however, are anything but modest in their practical effects- without them; you cannot function efficiently, whether as housewife or businessman, office secretary or club secretary, employee or employer, information hunter or bargain hunter, colleague or student or friend. Writing and speaking are sometimes compared to another form of communication- broadcasting. Like a radio transmission, for example, speaking and writing also have three elements- transmitter, signal, and receiver- and often suffer from 'interference'. What is it that distorts the message between transmitter (you) and receiver (your reader or listener)? It might be inadequate vocabulary or nervous twitching or a noisy street. Communicate clearly, and you actually start to think more clearly, and this in turn improves your communication skills still further. Tips for better English speaking: Try to experiment with the English you know. Use words and phrases you know in new situations. Native English speakers are more likely to correct you if you use the wrong word than if you use the wrong grammar. Experimenting with vocabulary is a really good way of getting feedback. Try to respond to what people say to you. You can often get clues to what people think by looking at their body language. Respond to them in a natural way. Try NOT to translate into and from your own language. This takes too much time and will make you more hesitant. Don't speak too fast! It's important to use a natural rhythm when speaking English, but if you speak too fast it will be difficult for people to understand you. Try to relax when you speak you'll find your mouth does most of the pronunciation work for you. When you speak English at normal speed, you'll discover that many of the pronunciation skills, such as linking between words, will happen automatically. Remember, when speaking English Try to become less hesitant and more confident. Remember to be polite use "please" and "thank you" if you ask someone to do something for you.

SPORTZ
CRICKET: Virat Kohli finishes 2011 as highest ODI run-getter. Kohli finished the year at the top of ODI charts with 1381 runs at an avg. The young gun started off 2011 with a solid 54 against South Africa in the testing conditions of Durban and from there on it was no looking back for the confident right-hander as he banged a brutal 100 not out against Bangladesh in the World Cup opener to compliment Virender Sehwags maverick innings. He went on to score 282 runs in the successful campaign cementing his place in the worlds best team in style. But the real test awaited the Delhi brat in England were he showed that he is not one to turn his back to a challenge producing a gritty 55 in the first match at Chester-Le-Street. TENNIS: Chennai: World Number 17 and Chennai Open defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka on Saturday said the young guns in world tennis are out to spring a lot of surprises in the 2012 season. He said the race is always between players ranked five to 20 and this year players have been moving a lot. "That is nice and is a big challenge because you know you can be there. Since you find young players always coming up in tournament after tournament, it is going to be the same this year or even more. You can see some big surprises this year the ATP Circuit," he said. FOOTBALL: FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman said Tuesday that 2010 MLS MVP David Ferreira, out since late April with a broken ankle, likely wont be available in the upcoming playoffs. Dallas plays host to the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday night in a single-elimination wild-card match. Liverpool galvanised by super sub Gerrard took just 31 minutes to inspire a 3-1 win over Newcastle in his team`s final fixture of the year. GOLF: charl schwartezl and Louis oosthuizen both finished in the top six at the Dubai world championship after leaving themselves a little too much to do on the final day. It was a gallant effort from the chasing pack but alvaro quiros kept his nerve to win the title in stunning fashion and Luke Donald clinched the race to Dubai by finished third. Oosthuizen started the day just shots behind the Spaniard and was in the penultimate group with Donald. Putt after puff just slid past the hole for the south Africa who failed to get any momentum going in his final round

PREACHING THOUGHTS
Do not live in imagined future: If you want to be a happier, lessstressed person, there is no better place to start than with becoming aware of anticipatory thinking, or an imagined future. Essentially, this type of thinking involves imagining how much better your life will be when certain conditions are met or how stressful, or difficult something is going to be at some point down the road. Typical anticipatory thinking sounds something like this: I cant wait to get that promotion, and then my life will be great. Life will be so much simpler when I can afford an assistant. These next few years will be really tough, but after that Ill be having a smooth ride. For example, its common for a builder to run into unexpected You get so carried away by your own thoughts that you remove yourself from the actual present moments of your life, thereby forgetting the act of living effectively and joyfully. There are other, more short-term forms of this type of thinking as well: The next few days are going to be unbearable, I am going to be tired tomorrow, I just know my speech is going to be a disaster. There are endless variations of this stressful tendency. The details are usually different, but the result is the same stress! Do not let your thoughts get caught up in the negative expectations and imagined horrors of the future. changes in the original plans unknown soil conditions, a shortage of money, or unforeseen design problems. A reactive builder will panic, overreact and become difficult to work with. A good builder will take the changes in stride, be responsive to the changes, rise to the occasion and get the job done. Responsive individuals are willing to change direction, if necessary, and admit their mistakes when appropriate. Because responsive people are able to see the entire picture so well, they are able to factor into every equation all the variables, instead of being limited to their usual way of doing things. Be Responsive: Responsive means acting appropriately to the issue at hand. Rather than being driven and controlled by habitual, knee-jerk reactions, being responsive means having the ability to maintain perspective and to choose the best possible alternative or course of action, given your unique situation.

INNOVATIVE MINDS
Magnetic Floating Aircrafts: Aircrafts today relies on fuel energy which is non renewable form of energy. In order to conserve energy and to optimize the use of fossil fuels, the earths magnetic field can be used as the driving force of the aircraft, instead of fuel energy. The earth has a magnetic field. The aircraft generates whatever field the Earth is generating (positive for positive or negative for negative) and then the aircraft floats. This was tried some years ago, but the aircraft was far too unstable and thus, crashed. An electrical generator would be required to generate the electricity for a big aircraft, to keep it afloat, since batteries wouldn't last that long. To power the generator, one could put in a conventional combustion type of engine and have the pistons turn a crankshaft that drives the generator. In order to reduce the usage of fuels, the phenomena of super magnets can be applied to generate power. This idea was initially abandoned because the Earth's magnetic field changes in many regions. In other words, the field which allows floating in one region could pull into the Earth in another, which is undesirable. But modern jetliners and modern fighter planes fly with the help of computer programs that constantly make slight changes to the flaps and so forth of the aircraft to keep it stable; without this, aircraft like an F-16 or a jumbo jet would crash. Imagine an aircraft that instead of the four exhaust outlets has four large magnetic generators on the bottom. These magnets are powered by the electric generator which is spinning inside, which is thus powered by the engine inside, which is running on fuel. Now a problem arises - what if on one side of the aircraft the Earth has a positive field, yet on the other side, it has a negative field? The magnets on each side need to custom match the field, or they will pull the aircraft down. Each magnet could be like a television screen, where each magnet is really made up of a huge amount of smaller magnets (as a television screen is made up of pixels), so that the magnetic field from each "magnet" could vary. As the aircraft flies along, the computer can make constant adjustments to the magnetic fields of these four hover magnets, to match the Earth's field, so the aircraft stays afloat.
