Unique Self-Adjusting Design

SLIPFREE connectors offer a rugged and easy way to ensure good column connections. The SLIPFREE connector design provides a voidfree connection because it actually pushes the tubing and ferrule into the end-tting. The separate tube holding and connectionsealing functions provide a better connection and better hardware lifetime. Because pressure is applied to the tubing rather than the ferrule, when the SLIPFREE connector is removed, the ferrule will not become lodged in the end-tting. The movable Vespel front ferrule allows the SLIPFREE connector to easily adjust to any commercially available HPLC or SFC column end-tting. Used over and over again, the SLIPFREE connector readjusts to t each new column connection. Even when different column brands are used on a single HPLC system, SLIPRFREE connectors provide all the same benets.
Choice of Congurations
The SLIPFREE connector is available in both single and double congurations. The double SLIPFREE is useful when frequent connections and disconnections will be made between HPLC columns and injectors or detectors. The single SLIPFREE connector is useful when only the column is changed. SLIPFREE connectors are available in exible 1/32" OD tubing as well as standard 1/16" OD tubing, in various lengths. SLIPFREE connectors come in 0.010" ID for routine work, 0.005" ID for use with small-bore and microbore columns, and 0.020" ID for semi preparative and preparative connections, or for connections ahead of the injector. PEEKcollared SLIPFREE connectors are ideal for higher temperature applications such as SFC. Long-neck SLIPFREE connectors have an extra long nut on the end which allows improved reach into tight spaces. SLIPFREE connectors come standard with Vespel ferrules. SLIPFREE sample loops are compatible with Rheodyne and Valco injectors. PEEK and Kel-F ferrules are available for applications where Vespel is not suitable, such as with strong acids or bases.

Solvent Inlet Filters

Stainless steel 10 m inlet lters for longer lifetime Bottom-of-the-Bottle solvent lters for efcient draw Thermo offers stainless steel solvent inlet lters that have a large surface area for a long lifetime. These lters are easy to change with no tools required. Inlet solvent lters are available with stems to slip into the inlet tubing, or with a ngertight nut. Bottom-ofthe-Bottle inlet lters are made from 100% PEEK polymer, including two 2 m frits. The at design draws virtually all the solvent from the reservoir. A helium sparge port and frit is built in for optional use. The press-t design accepts 1/8" OD tubing. Nuts are also available for convenient ngertight ttings, complete with a replaceable PEEK ferrule.

Stainless Steel Fittings

Thermo offers a variety of ttings designed for a wide range of 10-32 port congurations. Nuts and ferrules are precision machined from 316 stainless steel to be burr and contaminant free. They are available in hex nut design to match popular ttings. Two-piece Fingerlok nuts are also available for convenient ngertight ttings. These come with a replaceable PEEK ferrule.
PEEK Fingertight Fittings

Thermo offers ngertight ttings machined from PEEK polymer for reliability and ease of use. Fingertight PEEK ttings are resistant to cracking, breaking, thread stripping and leakage in both low and high pressure applications. They are available as a two piece nut and ferrule, or in a convenient one-piece design. PEEK is biocompatible for a broad range of applications.

PEEK tubing is designed to work in most HPLC applications, particularly reversed phase with aqueous mobile phases. It is supplied in pre-cut lengths, but is easily cut to a desired length. PEEK tubing is available in a range of internal diameters and can be used with standard ngertight ttings. PEEK tubing is resistant to most organic solvents. However, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, dichloromethane, THF and DMSO are not recommended.

PEEKsil fused silica lined PEEK tubing is manufactured using precision bore fused silica tubing coated with a 1/16" OD PEEK covering. The tubing can withstand high pressures, which makes it an ideal choice for capillary HPLC and LC/MS. The tubing has a very smooth internal surface for excellent ow characteristics, which leads to improved reproducibility and resolution, and higher efciency.

PEEKsil tubing is quite stiff and is difcult to bend without damaging the fused silica core. As such, it is not recommended for sections of the system where tubing bends are required. The tubing cannot be cut in the laboratory and is therefore limited to pre-cut lengths only.

Stainless steel tubing is available in a range of precut lengths and IDs. Each length of tubing has pre-nished, square, burr-free ends and interiors to ensure minimum dead volume connections. It is cleaned and passivated and ready for immediate installation. Stainless steel tubing is required for ultra high pressure applications where plastic or hybrid tubing will not work. Stainless steel tubing is reasonably exible, but is best when bends are kept to a minimum. The tubing also has a rough internal surface, which could lead to sample carry-over. Stainless steel tubing is not recommended for biological samples .

Thermo FocusLiner GC Injection Liner

The Thermo FocusLiner Injection liners contain a quartz wool lter that improves the rate of vaporization, reducing the discrimination of high boiling analytes in the sample. It also prevents non-volatile components from entering the column, improving sensitivity and extending column lifetimes. The position of this quartz wool is critical to obtain these
improvements. The FocusLiner secures the quartz wool between two restrictions preventing movement during syringe needle injection. The quartz wool consistently wipes the dispensed liquid away from the end of
the syringe needle during the injection process, resulting in less carryover and greatly improved precision. With these liners, a Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) of less than 1% can be achieved.

Ferrules from Thermo are available in three different materials and various dimensions to match the instrument and capillary column ID. The choice of material is dependent upon the use; guidelines are given in the table.

100% Graphite Ferrules

Thermos 100% graphite ferrules are a soft material that is porous to oxygen, making them suitable for most applications except GC/MS. These easy-to-use ferrules form a soft grip with the column and provide a stable seal.
15% Graphite/85% Vespel Ferrules

The mechanically robust 15% Graphite /85% Vespel ferrules have a long lifetime and are compatible with GC/MS. These ferrules form a strong grip with the column and cannot be reused as they form a permanent seal with the column. They have a temperature limit of 350 C, but must be re-tightened after initial temperature cycles.
SilTite Metal Ferrules

SilTite metal ferrules and nuts are made from the same material and have the same thermal expansion coefcient. The SilTite ferrule forms a strong, permanent, airtight seal around the capillary column, eliminating leaks. The base of the ferrule is at and forms a perfect seal with the MS interface. The ferrules temperature tolerance is well above the limit of the injector, MS interface or GC oven. Unlike other ferrules, SilTite Ferrules do not need re-tightening after installation.

All varieties of ferrules are supplied in contaminant-free, individual blister packs, allowing removal of an individual item without risk of contamination to the other supplied items.

The accuracy and precision of the GC sample syringe is critical to your GC results. Thermos syringes are designed, manufactured and inspected to ensure the expected volume is transferred every time. Our syringes are made by chromatographers who are familiar with the requirements of the entire GC system, not just syringe manufacturing. All Thermo syringes use borosilicate glass with metal anges of either stainless steel or nickel-plated brass. Your syringe choices include xed and removable needles as well as standard and gas-tight plungers for convenience. The needles and plungers are stainless steel; gas-tight plunger tips are PTFE. The table summarizes the specications of all available syringes.
Autosampler Syringes
Thermo is the source for all your GC autosampler syringes, no matter what GC you use. Thermo offers a wide variety of needle tips including cone point which can help prevent the plunger binding with dirty samples. The eld proven syringe designs are optimized for septum piercing, and come in a range of volumes.
Manual Syringes
Thermo manual syringes come in industry standard sizes, ensuring you of a consistent t with your GC. The white scale backing makes markings easy-to-read, improving reproducibility, and the markings are resistant to solvents. Syringe volumes range from 0.5 L to 1.0 mL, covering most sample take up and delivery requirements.
