TILOS
Time-location planning software for managing linear construction projects

Many planning engineers create plans for linear projects (such as rail, road) using drawing software packages like CAD as well as Microsoft Excel. Whilst creating plans with these packages can be relatively straightforward, keeping them up-to-date can be problematic because there is no easy way of rescheduling activities. Now, there is an easier way. TILOS, a powerful time-location planning software tool, combines the flexibility of a drawing package with the power of project management. Plans are represented on a two-dimensional chart with time represented on one axis and location on the other. With TILOS, you get the best of both worlds a scaled drawing of your project fully integrated with a comprehensive project management system. POWERFUL, INTUITIVE SCHEDULING Start planning immediately with industry-specific templates with calendars and trades. Draw activities onto the chart using the mouse as an electronic pencil just like drawing on paper. Drag and drop activities with the mouse.

NOW THERES AN EASIER WAY TO PLAN LINEAR PROJECTS
s

Draw links between activities in the time/location chart and reschedule the plan to identify the critical path and new project end date. Simulate alternative project sequences by changing the working times and the chaining of operations. COMMUNICATE PLANS MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH TILOS

You can drill down through the chart to view increasingly detailed layers of information. This ensures that everyone receives the right level of information they need in order to carry out their work. Add comments and drawings to your project chart to highlight important processes. Create PDF files for sending charts electronically or as a model for the plotting service. Show several different stages of construction on one chart or scale the distance axis to compress or stretch individual sections. Route and performance data can be used to comment on processes via variables with this information updated automatically when task data changes. SCALED LOCATION CHARTS Powerful drawing tools make it easier to create the distance drawing via gridcontrolled placement of symbols and objects based on distance coordinates. An extensive symbol library reduces the effort required for preparing drawings. Import existing charts directly into the chart and scale them to size automatically.

It is easier to understand the status of a linear project with a two-dimensional plan than a one-dimensional plan.

Printouts of your TILOS plans can be scaled to any size. The quality of printed and electronic plans will help you win contracts and deliver them more efficiently.

One chart presents all the information you need - Split the chart into multiple sections so you can display more information.

projects and constantly monitor actual progress against plan.

s

Freely definable report lines with progress displayed show which tasks were completed and in which time period. The report line shows increased or decreased performance with reference to the reporting date at a glance. The original plan can be archived and loaded into the current project. This allows you to detect variances immediately and compensate for them in good time. Rescheduling instantly updates the current project status and calculates the new deadlines with reference to the reporting date. The progress and the actual data can be imported and exported via the freely definable ASCII interface.

TILOS is a system that allows you to draw and calculate the flow chart using real machine performance data. The chart immediately shows clashes with the tight schedule prescribed by the railways as well as interruptions and site data. The simulations allow you to rapidly find the optimum sequence of operations for the project. This would not be possible just using bar charts or a CAD system as a drawing tool. TILOS saves you time and money even when the ultimate sequence of operations is still being planned. The optimised construction sequence also allows other considerably larger savings so your investment will soon pay for itself.

COST AND QUANTITY PLANNING

s

The integration of cost, quantity and performance planning reduces the risk associated with each project. Task duration can be calculated from the working speed (performance) and the distance - or from the work quantity and the performance. Resource utilisation is calculated in terms of quantities or time using flexible calculation models. Cost and quantity charts with a table of values show the time-specific and absolute demand for resources over the duration of a project. The resource utilisation chart displays demands for resources next to the time axis in a clear and compact manner. Costs and income are compared and the liquidity curve plotted. FLEXIBLE DRAWING In a project file, projects, scales, site plans and charts can be defined in the form of cells. Views of the project can be created by combining basic cells in any way you like. TILOS can produce an unlimited number of views onto a project. Cell width is calculated via the location or time axis and the specified scale. Any time or location section can be displayed in one view. Neighbouring cells can be synchronized via the location or time axis. As a result, TILOS always displays the distance drawing correctly scaled with the schedule. Axis orientation and direction (increasing or decreasing) can be set individually for each cell. Dividable view windows show position and site plans as well as the flow chart in a window with synchronization during horizontal or vertical scrolling. PROGRESS TRACKING
