TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE FOR ALTERNATE CURRENT SERVOMOTOR
FAULT CAUSE REMEDY
Slow connection terminals (*) Tighten the connection terminals
Incorrect wiring (*) Correct The motor does not start
Overload Reduce the load or use a larger motor
Unstable functioning Incorrect wiring
(*) check and correct the wiring by means of the terminals of the motor U, V,
W and PG
Excessive ambient temperature Reduce to below 40 C
Motor dirty Clean the motor surface Motor overheated
Overload Reduce the load or use a larger motor
Motor mounted in slow mode Tighten the retaining bolts
Motor misaligned Realign
Coupling unbalanced Balance coupling
Bearing noisy Check the alignment, the bearing load and lubrication, and contact a
Yaskawa representative
Unusual noise
Vibration of controlled machine Contact the machine manufacturer
The remedies marked with an asterisk (*) must be carried out with the power off.

FAULT WARNINGS BY MEANS OF LEDs
WARNING BY MEANS
OF LEDs
CONDITION IN WHICH THE LED
COMES ON
PROBABLE CAUSE HOW TO CORRECT IT
When the control circuit is powered Control circuit card faulty (1 PWB) Replace the servopack
When the main circuit is powered Current feedback circuit faulty Replace the servopack
MCCB magnetothermal protection does
not trip
Transistor module of main circuit faulty Replace the servopack
When the main circuit is powered Transistor module of main circuit faulty Replace the servopack
During operation The ventilator has stopped
Check the ventilator (SR29, 30,
44)
A10
Overcurrent
Check if there is a ground
phase on the motor
connector or on the power
supply
When the current which feeds the control
circuit is cut and then restored. When
then resetting, the operation starts
The temperature around the servopack
exceeds 55 C
Reduce the temperature to
below 55 C (the air around the
radiator might be too hot)
When the main circuit is powered Motor earth connection Replace the motor A11
Earth connection faulty
MCCB magnetothermal protection trips Transistor module of main circuit faulty Replace the servopack
When the control circuit is powered
Control circuit card faulty (1PWB)
(MCCB in ON condition)
Replace the servopack
When the main circuit is powered
Main module with thyristor diodes
faulty
Replace the servopack
A20
Circuit protection has tripped
When the main circuit is powered MCCB protection trips Replace the servopack
When the control circuit is powered Control circuit card faulty Replace the servopack
Comes on about 0.5 - 1 second after the
main circuit was powered
Regenerative transistor faulty Replace the servopack
A30
Regeneration problem
This has already occurred on
many RV30s, probably
because the resistor is
underdimensioned. It occurs
when making very close-set
consecutive steps.
Have the max. acceleration
of the X-axis modified from
6.5 to 4.5.
or
Comes on about 0.5 - 1 second after the
main circuit was powered
Disengagement of regenerative
resistor (braking card)
Check and replace the
regenerative resistor
(replace the servopack)

When the motor starts or decelerates Too large load inertia J (GD)
Check the machine inertia with
the value adapted to the driving
shaft
A40
Overvoltage
When the motor starts or decelerates Regenerative circuit faulty Replace the servopack
When the reference is inserted the motor
runs at high speed and continues running
Motor connection error Correct the motor connection
A51
Excess speed
When the reference is inserted the motor
runs at high speed and continues running
Optical encoder connection error
Check and correct the pulses in
the phases A,B,C,U,V,W, with 2
NCs
A52
Excess speed reference
detection
When the reference is inserted the motor
runs at high speed and continues running
Too high reference input voltage
Reduce the reference input
voltage
A60
Voltage drop
When the main circuit is powered
Main module with thyristor diodes
faulty
Replace the servopack
When the control circuit is powered Control circuit card faulty (1 PWB) Replace the servopack
A70
Overload
The motor turns, but does not have
sufficient torque
Incorrect connection of motor circuit as
UV, VW, WU or single-phase
connection
Correct the connection
Comes on during operation
A torque higher than the rated torque is
required from the motor for too long a
time.
Check and correct the load
(there might be an overload)
A71
Check the connector
wiring. The resolver might
have two wires on the
connector touching each
other. On RV 20 the X and
Y cables can be inverted
When the current which feeds the control
circuit is cut and then restored, the
operation starts
A torque higher than the rated torque is
required from the motor for too long a
time.
Check and correct the load
(there might be an overload)
